Kal was finishing his venison and cider, noticing that noone was returning. Today seemed to be a long day. He wondered when Tjaden would return.

((Kinda early, but i guess poor kal has waited long enough.)) Tjaden had had a fulfilling day. He had fulfilled his physical need in fighting the trolls, his moral need in speaking to Beremond, his spiritual need in praying to the ancestors and indulged his curiosity a bit in a walk through the market. All that was left was to satiate his social need and he wasn't expecting to find it on the city streets. He would have to look to his traveling companions for a little bit of comradeship, though in actuality they still seemed like strangers. Trust, after all, took time.
It seemed like such a shame to head in at this time, Tjaden still felt like had so much he could accomplish in the day, but their was no direction to his restless motivation save for the grumbling of his stomach. With that as his only incentive, he headed for their inn.
A long walk later and Tjaden was pushing the door to the inn open. He scanned the room, ignoring the irrate looks of the rougher folk and disregarding the slack-jawed stares of the drunks altogether. However, the only familiar face was the halfling. Still, Tjaden made his way toward the figure of his newest companion, sitting next to him, he kindly waited for the inn-keeper to inquiry what he wanted before politely requesting the same as the halfling.

Kal smiled at the almost perfectly timed entrance. "Nice to finally see a friendly face," he spoke easily to Tjaden. He seemed still as polite as ever, ever a beaming tower of purity. Kal still had his new armor on and his new blade attatched to his hip. He slid the bone covered plate away from himself, took the last sip of cider and then placed that on top of the plate as well. A nice convenient stack for when Kal took his dishes to the kitchen later. "So how was your day on the town?" he asked.
((Thank you. I was hoping you might come at some point. I was getting bored.))

((I was hoping to run into trouble on the town to shake Tjaden's faith in other people. Trying to find an excuse that will trigger his downward spiralling fall from faith and his subsequent regaining of belief in Berpharon.))
Tjaden paused a moment after the question, thinking on what to say. "It was productive, to a point, though I feel as if I could have done more. Both Erron and Selce are off training in their respective fields, Prometheus, despite being practically dead on his feet from casting so many spells in a short period of time, still came with us around town, and I haven't seen hide nor hair of the ale-grabbing elf since she claimed to be in search of booze this morning." Tjaden exclaimed with a furrowed brow.
The barkeep set the plate in front of Tjaden, wordlessly, and followed it with a mug of cider. Tjaden took up the fork, as he had been taught humans do, and stuck a rather large piece of meat through with the utensil. Practically shoving the food in his mouth, he chewed roughly for a few seconds before visibly swallowing the chunk of meat.
"The paladin at the temple told us to visit the Archmage, but she was busy in a meeting when we arrived at the tower. I guess we will have to wait to find out what she knows. Though I doubt anyone has told you about the strange events prior to leaving for Haven. You should ask Erron or Selce about that." Tjaden suggested. He was not the one to speak of it, for it was not his story to tell. "What about you? You certainly did not stay in the tavern all day." Tjaden asked in a friendly and curious tone.

Selce stooped to carefully pick up the small fragment. She studied the piece and wondered what it was. "Alanna, is this important?" She asked and help the Chaos fragment. (Ahhh sooo short)

Erron awoke an hour or so later, having lost consciousness from the quivering palm blow, he was still in the training room, and still against the wall, he decided to check upstairs to see if Edge was still home.

Kal chuckled and nodded. "True, my friend, I actually bought this new armor and dagger for a mere price of 600 gold. My fair share of the party gold. Then took a short nap, to later go walking for some entertainment. Our elven friend actually joined me on that expedition. We saw a thievery happen, then she followed a weapons master. At least, that is what I interpreted from the short man and his friend's discussion," he replied. "I tried to track down the thief group, but even after their damage from the guard that stopped them, they were swifter and more agile than I," he added. He looked into Tjaden's eyes, "Then after my losing them, I came back here to retire, possibly for the night," he explained the reason to him being at the inn. It was mostly true, and so would be very hard to catch as a lie from a trained city thief.

The time is now 6 p.m.
The Archmage smiled as Selce handed over the Chaos Fragment.
"It is to form the bond between you and your familiar. Come, let us return. You have done well."
With that, they disappeared within the multi-colored portal once again.
Arriving back within the material plane, the Archmage held the crimson fragment in her palm.
"Selce, please stand here in the center of the room and hold the fragment in your hands."
As she did so, the Archmage tapped the base of her staff to the floor and the dust dispersed instantly, revealing an intricate ritual circle drawn on the tile.
"Prepare yourself... This process varies for each wizard."
Melkos. Biertus.. Liiik!
Suddenly, bright lights erupted from the floor. They were almost blinding to the naked eye. Each few moments, an explosion of magic occurred in the air surrounding the young wizardess.
Selce grimaces as one final explosion of light occurs. When the light faded, a small drake with butterfly-like wings sat in front of the girl.
"Greetings! I am Melkor. You're the one who summoned me, correct?"

Tjaden frowned at the notion of the halflng joining a thieves guild. Tjaden took a deliberate swig of cider and was completely oblivious of the lie. "Well, I'm sure you are resourceful enough to find someone willing to show you a new trick of the trade. Perhaps an honesty trader in the market will be happy to give you a lesson on....persuasion and diplomacy." Tjaden suggested.

((I dunno, your character has been a little less than, shall we say, clandestine about being a thief? "The thought of" doesn't mean he KNOWS about you seeking membership, but suspects that if you had a chance you would.))

((Haha, okay, fair enough.)) Kal chuckled, "Yes, possibly," he restated. He looked to the clock on the wall and saw the time. 4 or so hours til' he needed to steal the seal. He had had his fill of meat and alcohol-less drink. "Well, are you planning anything or turning in for the night as well?" he asked curious, for his own plans would be affected by Tjaden's.

As Erron made his way up the stairs, Edge greeted him as he sat by the table in one of the four chairs. On the wooden table sat a modest meal of soup, bread and venison as well as a cup of warm tea.
"Ah, I'm glad you are awake. I trust that you were not strained too far beyond your limits? I certainly hope not. You'll be needing every ounce of your strength to learn the Quivering Palm technique and you most certainly do not need to do so on an empty stomach. Have a seat and enjoy."

((sorry...i was writing quick so when I saw 'tracked them down' I immediately added the 'to join them' part...you know you are a theif, they are theives. Ill try to pay more attention...))
Tjaden stretched and judged the time to be just after 6. "Well, I won't be turning in just yet. I want to see what Selce and Erron were up to. Training vicariously through them, so to speak." Tjaden joked. "I also want to see just how easy Selce will think it is to see this archmage. The less trouble the better. If she doesnt think it would be a problem, I would like to be there. This whole business with the Orcs and humans at war has me a little on edge. I think someone started it deliberately....Erron does to. The only thing keeping me safe right now could be this seal." Tjaden said, tapping the thing. "I may not like it, but I have to respect Beremond's wishes. You should probably come with us, tomorrow. You may pick up on the subtle observations that others, such as myself, may not notice. An extra set of eyes and ears is always welcome."

Erron took a seat at the table and took in the simple and hearty meal with gusto, thanking his host for his generosity before starting, and addressing his concern of Erron being strained. "Even though you were holding back I must admit that was the most challenging match I had faced, I was almost on par with my previous mentor, but you deflected my attacks as if deflecting an infant's tantrum swings."
