Hikaru sighed dramatically, flopping into one of the other seats at the table. She knew when she was beat, and it was really hard to argue with Elspeth for some reason. She sat in the chair, fidgeting a little and kicking her legs under the table as she flipped through one of the summoning books Terry was looking at. It was little more than a picture book to her - she couldn't understand the text written in it even if she was trying.

"So, a frog, huh? Well, c'mon, let's see it!"

She turned to Terry expectantly, grinning as she usually does. It was clear she had no idea what was involved in this sort of thing, and was waiting for Terry to just chant a few words or something and have animals start popping out all over the place. Despite not knowing what was going on, though, she did seem to be displaying some measure of genuine confidence in her friend's ability.

"Well, um, see frogs are big enough and complex enough that they have a conciousness, and you can't really summon something without a mind. But frogs are easy enough that beginners can do them too. Sorta like bio. You disect frogs for the same reasons you summon them."

Heh, I sound like I know what I'm doing.

Terry cleared the study desk, took a look behind him to make sure the librarian wasn't looking, and then pulled a vile of salt out of his back pack. He drew a circle on the desk, doing his best to copy the one from the book. That done, he used the salt to make patterns and sigils within the circle, muttering under his breath all the while.

When the writing was done, Terry sprinkeled a bit of water from a flask, slammed his hands down on opposite sides of the circle, and said in a clear voice: "Bufonidae!"

His eyes glowed green for a brief moment.

No frog appeared.

Terry sat back on his haunches, looked at the two girls, and gave a rather loud croak.

Hikaru watched intently as Terry drew the summoning circle with the salt, actually managing to keep somewhat quiet while he did so. This looked a lot harder than she'd assumed it to be - was Terry that smart? She glanced back and forth between him and the summoning circle as he continued sprinkling the salt around, and then watched the circle closely when he chanted to finish the spell.

Silence.

"...Did it work?"

A croak.

She glanced up sharply, squinting and looking at Terry.

"Terry? Are you okay?"

Hikaru tentatively extended a finger to poke at him, not quite sure of what had happened.

Clearly fascinated by it all, Elspeth hoved just over Terry's shoulder as he went through the steps of the summoning, asking questions more or less to herself about the entire process taking her own wand out and waving it at her book to take notes.

At the green glow she ooed and then stared for a moment in silence.

"You summoned a frog spirit into yourself... that's so cool!"

Elspeth beamed at this, jumping up and down with no small bit of glee, wrapping her arms about his neck and jumping up and down.

Hikaru glanced back and forth between Elspeth, Terry, the books, and the broken summoning circle.

"Uh... that wasn't supposed to happen, though, right? The frog was supposed to appear on the table, not inside Terry..."

She looked deeply confused at all of this.

"...Right?" sweatdrop

Elsepth's jumping, coupled with Hiko's prodding, equaled Terry taking a leaping jump, propelled by his back legs over the desk and out the window. Taking El with him if she didn't have the sense of mind to let go.

A loud RIBBIT echoing throughout the library stacks in his wake.

Fresh air slapped Terry as he hurtled towards the ground. Somewhere in the back of his head, the normal Terry though Oh no, not again.

Meanwhile, frog-Terry thought only one thing. "Ribbit!"

"...uh oh..."

Flapping for all that her wings were worth, Elspeth let go of her grip on Terry and started for her wand, waving it in the air in a circle.

"Wait! Wait, frog Terry.. er.. Grassius Alivicus Treedium Wallis!" Despite the clearly made up sound of the words she waved her wand again and again and again before zapping in front of Terry and the grass proceeded to grow into giant trees to frame in a small wall around three sides of Frog-Terry.

Hikaru, meanwhile, vaulted out of the window after Terry, hitting the ground on all fours and taking off after him in a sprint. She immediately turned up her speed as high as it could go - Terry's human-frog-legs moved him much faster than one would guess. As she dashed off after him, a wall of trees sprang up in front of them to block their path. Hikaru's eyes went wide, and she yelped as she tried to slow herself down, but she knew there wouldn't be enough time. Skidding wildly to a halt, she crashed into Terry at breakneck speed, effectively tackling him to the ground and sending both of them spiraling into the middle of the enclosure of trees before they came to a halt, lying half-crumpled on top of one another.

The impact with trees (helped along by the small motorbike to his back that he used to know as Hiko), knocked the frog spirit loose from Terry's mind. Still a bit groggy, Terry tried to stand and pushed against the ground. It was softer than he thought it should be though.

It hadn't rained. Why was it so--

Terry looked down, saw Hiko beneath him, saw what he was pushing against, imediately went terror code tomoato and moved his hands away, waving an appology more so than voicing one as he couldn't form words through all the blood rushing to his face.

Unfortunately, waving his arms around took away all of his support, and Terry's head went crashing (literally face first) into Hiko's chest.

Hikaru was still somewhat groggy herself from the impact, rubbing her head as she sat up.

"Owww..."

She shook her head back and forth to clear her vision, and then felt something pressing against her. As she looked down, she noticed Terry's hand in a place it definitely shouldn't have been.

"TERRY! WHAT THE HELL!"

As Terry flailed wildly and began to apologize, Hikaru simply froze in place, blushing and somewhat in shock about this whole thing.

And then his face went plowing straight back into her chest.

"HEY!"

Hikaru sat in place, shaking in anger and blushing just as fiercely as Terry at this point. Finally, the tension was broken as she ripped his face away from where it was lodged with one hand, reeling back to punch him across the side of the mouth with the other. Standing up and dusting herself off, she draped one arm across the front of her shirt and, still blushing like crazy, stormed off back the way she came.

Elspeth watched for a moment, tiny hands moving into tight little fists as Terry and Hikaru went end over end over end into each other. For a moment she flickered in the air and her eyes went from blue to white.

"h--Hey.. HEY!"

She began to glow brighter and white, bells chiming in the air and starting to turn into a strange sort of calliope music as her wings beat rapidly, posture tense.

"GET OFF OF HIM!"

"Hiko I'm so sor--" Terry fell backwards as he was punched in the mouth. He stared up at the newly formed tree line. Trying to figure out what had happened. He let out a whimper and felt a tail twitch between his legs. Large dog ears had replaced his human ears as well.

Terry whimpered again. At least this didn't happen in front of the whole class. He sat up, tucked his tail between his legs, and tried to calm down.

He breathed in, Just relax....
He breathed out, And it'll go away...

Alex watched the scene from afar and it was all she could do not to burst out laughing. After Hiko stormed off, she giggled and waved to Elspeth and Terry, "Hey guys!" she jogged over to them and eyed Terry carefully, "I feel so sorry for you," she mumbled and turned to El, "Ever consider getting a job as a ref?" she knew it wasn't the best situation to be joking about, but this was so much better than a book.
