Scubas_girl i have a question do taoist's preform spells or rituals?? jw Hmmm...there is a lot of mysticism in Taoism, and some of their practices are somewhat close to typical Magick. There is a lot of ancestor reverence, and what I usually call "wish burning" (where you write/inscribe a piece of paper with a certain desire and then burn it. the Tao version is similiar, if not more as an offering to the spirits.). I havent studied Taoism much, but from what I have, so far I havent seen any opposition to spells. Rituals are totally welcome though, a good deal of Taoism is about ritual, and elements, and spirits...its really peaceful now that I think about it...

I said aloud "So according to the Bible Wiccans should die?! That makes me feel good" My mom might of heard her door was open I hope not, maybe hat sentence was too subtle to hint to my Wicca.

Nate, if you're referring to the Bible quote of something about suffering a witch, I had been told that it actually meant poisoners, not witches. People who poisoned others are not true witches - witches would be the ones who would make the antidotes for the poisons. So a lot of people take that quote wrongly.

People who poisoned others are not true witches - witches would be the ones who would make the antidotes for the poisons. So a lot of people take that quote wrongly. Indeed. Sorcery is another word they just throw around. If you take a close look at who were considered "witches" back in the day, you'd find people who knew a little more about healing ailments (as most mothers knew a few ways to tend to their families, common knowledge. If It went beyond their know-how, healers were sought out). They knew which herbs did what...depending on the culture they might be a bit more spiritual and incorporate that into their methods. Of course there were a few bad apples (or not perhaps, maybe some lady wanted to kill off Caligula since he was mowing down people left and right), but it was mostly when Christianity was in "conversion mode" that healers and erm...not-healers were thrown into the same barrel.
I mean, God forbid anyone took a bath back in the 17th century. Your neck or ankle might be seen while you scrub off last weeks B.O....cant have that.

The gems probably hold some meaning (unless they were just there to be pretty). There isnt anything posted on gems/stones/crystals yet, but I'm sure something will go up soon (as in if I come back from vaca and its not up yet, I'll write it up myself xp ).
And yes, I'll be in the Detroit area till next Wednesday to beat up Noodles (the ex-fiance of awesomeness who joined the guild at random), see my family, and then see Coldplay.

I have a few small cauldrons. You don't need to have an enormous cauldron, like they had back in the day they had to wash laundry in the same cauldron they cooked food in. I have two iron ones that are a few inches in diameter, a couple inches high, one I used to use when I've made candles (melting the wax in it, while it was in a pot of boiling water, on the stove). The other one had been used as a ritual tool, to burn herbs in, like incense.
I also have one the same size as the iron ones, but it's of white milk glass. This one I've used for combining salt (element of earth) and water (element of water) as part of cleansing a circle.
I have had an altar set up with other tools, but it's been down for a couple years. My sacred space had been turned into a storage space (well, it is in the attic space).
