((Oh... Um... Happy late birthday, Kittengrl. Sorry I couldn't say happy birthday yesterday. My internet connection was acting up. It does that periodically.))

Gallant nodded, seeing Jasper's point. He followed the other's gaze to the group of students as Jasper recomposed his countenance.
"Refuge...sanctuary.....I guess I never thought of it that way. I mean, it isnt like people didn't know I was different, but I can't exactly say I had it rough." The thought surprised Gallant a little. Perhaps his roommate was right in his conclusion, though Gallant didn't agree with the reasoning. Making friends here would take time because they had already been taught to fend for themselves. Gallant snapped out of his short reverie.
"Well at least we have both proven ourselves as great psycho-analysts, how about a new topic. What part of this place are you looking forward to the most? I can't say that I am complaining about starting our day in an English class!" Gallant said switching his mood as quickly as he switched the topic. He seemed a bit more buoyant, like he had yesterday.

"Same" Gallant responded. He opened his bag from one side, careful to keep the satchel's flap covering as much as he could. As he fished his schedule out of his bookcase, a keen observer could catch a glimpse of light grey fur peaking through the opening. The moment Gallant withdrew his hand, the flap obscured the view.
"It puzzles me as well. I assume it refers to the source of a person's special abilities, but that assumes a great deal, including that all of us have abilities." He opened the paper to the side that showed their class and stared at the enigmatic title to the course.
"I mean, there is bound to be at least one course that acknowledges the reason we were picked for this school, right?" Gallant pulled the rose from its place on his shirt and stuck the end of the short stem in his mouth, almost as if it were a pen.

Saki walked out of the cafeteria and towards the fountain, taking her ocarina out of her bag as she walked. When she reached the fountain, she was pleased to find no one there. She leaned against the fountain. Hm... What song to play? she thought. I think I'll play 'Eyes on Me.' She then put the ocarina to her lips and played. ((This is what it sounds like. I just found out how to do that. sweatdrop I'm not so good at figuring computers out.))

((Ah. Lucky you... they declared a snow day here at noon. Trouble is, both my classes today finished before noon, so I get nothing out of it except the snow itself.
Which isn't all that bad. mrgreen ))

"True," Jasper agreed, putting his empty plate to the side and leaning over slightly to look at Gallant's schedule. He pointed at the weekly column. "It's scheduled for every day. So they might be assuming that many need to learn control."
He leaned back and laced his fingers behind his head, thinking aloud. "I do wonder what they'll teach those of us without abilities, like me. Surely there are other humans here." He snickered. "Wouldn't it be funny if it turned out to be a class on meditation and yoga instead?"

"I can't imagine it would be anything but boring for you. Imagine learning all the theory but never able to apply it. I guess they figure you won't fear what you understand." Gallant was just assuming now, he had no clue what would happen in a school like this.
"Well, if worse comes to worse, you can always enjoy the view, if you catch my drift. They know at least one way to maim you, but most of the girls here are real lookers, eh?" Gallant said in a hushed sort of tone. He looked around as if taking in his own advise.
"People seem to be pairing of already. If the classes become boring at least we know the campus life will be entertaining, eh?"

Where'd the music go? Nathan lost himself in it and... oh no. She was talking to him. What did his caretaker say? Right. Just say hello. Shake hands. He looked at her; she was pretty cute. But... smallish. Was she really a... what was it, high school student? "Hello..." Nathan drifted off. Oh, right. Shake hands. Nathan moved his hand forward, moving it through the fountain, hand open to what he thought was the gesture to shake. "Sorry if I... surprised you. What is that?"

Yay! Another snow day! *dancing* Actually, it's more like a freezing-rain day.))

Saki took the boy's hand when he held it out and shook it. "It's okay. It's really my fault for not expecting anyone to show up. My name is Saki," she said. "This?" she asked, slightly lifting the ocarina. "This is an ocarina."
