After thinking about the battle on Haha Island for a few moments, Sukotto decided that he'd revisit some of the other battles that he had experienced in his career as a young shinobi. Even before the fight with a genjutsu user on Haha Island, the Uchiha had fought against a strange wooden opponent in the Forest of Sorrows with Maya, Baki, Aya, and a few of the other young ninja in the village. While their opponent clearly outmatched them on an individual level, the whole troop of shinobi working together managed to defeat the strange foe. Unfortunately, Sukotto hadn't learned the Phoenix Flower jutsu at this time, so he had been little help in actually damaging the opponent, but his contribution did make the team's assault a little more effective by making their largest attack more difficult to dodge. Even if Sukotto had learned the Phoenix Flower by that time, it wasn't likely that he'd be able to use it against the opponent, since he hadn't developed his teamwork skills very well. He would have fired a very powerful technique that would have hit nothing but air, even with his ninjutsu being as high as it was. Sukotto would train his squad to be good at executing combined attacks, but he figured that he'd also need to do the same for himself.

Sukotto had hopped out of chronological order to think about the fight against the wooden opponent, but since he had covered it already, he decided to jump back into the order in which his fights actually took place. As far as he could remember, after the battle on Haha Island, the Uchiha's next serious fight was in the Orochi village, when Shimagakure responded to the mercenary attack that had been carried out against the village. Unlike his previous opponent, the Orochi that Sukotto fought had a fairly straight forward strategy for the most part, as he focused on using weapons against the Uchiha. Sukotto had a bit of difficulty dodging these attacks, as the Orochi had been quite skilled with his weapons, but he did manage to avoid a few swings of the blades that the snake man wielded. This time around, Sukotto didn't waste any time in using his Phoenix Flower technique against his opponent, as the Orochi's assault on him had taken quite a toll. Unfortunately, even when using the technique's full power against the Orochi, Sukotto still didn't manage to knock out or kill the man with one hit, as he had hoped to do. The snake man had a stamina that Sukotto had never before witnessed in someone that was near his skill level, and continued to fight even after he had nearly been burnt to a crisp.

After he launched nearly everything he had at the Orochi, Sukotto had very nearly drained all of his energy away, leaving himself quite vulnerable, as his own stamina was quite low along with the amount of chakra that he had left. In a last ditch effort, Sukotto decided to attempt to hide and restore some of his lost chakra by focusing it within his body, but the Orochi man had set up an explosive trap that the Uchiha couldn't have seen coming, due to his lack of skill when it came to detecting hidden objects or shinobi. He was already quite wounded from the weapons, but figured that he would be able to withstand the blast as it erupted forth, since it didn't seem to be one that was too powerful. However, it seemed as though the explosion was just enough to take the Uchiha down, rendering him unconscious. Thankfully, events that were taking place in other parts of the village caused an eruption of the area, burying Sukotto's opponent in a pile of rubble that he could have very well ended up in if he had been the victor of the battle. Sukotto wished that he could battle this opponent again, as he had greatly increased his skill with taijutsu, but that was impossible. He merely took what he could from that fight and developed a fighting style that didn't strictly require the use of chakra.

Sukotto decided to switch back to the task at hand for a few moments and shifted gears in his mind. After thinking about what a small part of Serena’s personality could offer, Sukotto then began to think of how Shisei’s could help himself as well as the team. This task would be a little more tricky, as Shisei didn’t seem to be the type to consider his team, not unless they served some sort of use to him. Fortunately, the team would be of great use to the young Orochi, as a majority of the missions that the team were sent out on would require a team’s effort. Shisei seemed to be observant, like Serena, but in a much different way. Instead of seeing every side of things and acting based on others, Shisei seemed quite focused on his own abilities when “compared” to others. In addition, the boy seemed to have quite a strong mind within that snake-like skull, and unfortunately, that could be used against him in the form of a genjutsu. No matter what he did, combating genjutsu would always be a challenge for the boy as long as he was so headstrong, and Sukotto didn’t forsee that quality changing anytime soon, unless the boy saw it as advantageous in some way.

In spite of this weakness, a powerful mind like Shisei’s could be put to very good use when it came to noticing and understanding small details that most others would simply overlook or misread. Sukotto figured the boy to be like hiselfin many ways, as he seemed to eye up other shinobi, especially those that were in or near the same age group as himself. Since Shisei would be good at seeing all of the details in a given situation, it waslikely that he’d have a knack for detecting a hidden shinobi if he began observing his surroundings as much as he observed his rivals. Unfortunately, the boy didn’t have any kekkai genkai like the Sharingan to assist him with seeking out hidden enemies, which couldprove to be one of the more difficult tasks that a ninja would fac in their career, but Sukotto knew of one other personality trait that the boy held that would make up for this lack of an enhances sensory body part, and that was the Orochi-born’s obvious thirst for understanding, discovering, and learning jutsu.

Shisei’s desire to learn and invent jutsu would serve him well in the shinobi world. If he thought up a scenario in which his ability was too weak to handle, he could simply develop a jutsu that temporarily boosted that area of skill, allowing him to be better equipped for the situation. If he were to fit the role that Sukotto wanted him to, the role of a seeker who was capable of finding and disabling enemy shinobi who had hidden themselves, then a jutsu could be exactly what could get him to that point. The Uchiha figured that by developing some sort of genjutsu that rooted out enemies, or a ninjutsu that increasesed the ability of his senses to detect hidden ninja,, the part of Shisei’s personality that caused him to hunger for finding new jutsu would definitely become a positive thing for both himself and the dquad as a whole. Unfortunately, this sort of hunger could drive the boy mad, and that was Sukotto’s greatest fear for the boy as there eisted forbidden jutsu that required more than just training to acquire, but the Uchiha hoped to find ways to lead the Orochi-born away from this path.

After having taken the time to think about the training that he had tasked himself with, Sukotto decided to allow himself to think about his past battles once again, as learning from his past had made him into the shinobi that he had become. After battling the Orochi in the village that the shinobi of Shimagakure attacked, Sukotto returned home with fewer ninja than had set out on the mission. They lost Uchiha Ichi on the mission, the man who had taken Sukotto in as a nephew of sorts, and had taken the time to help to teach him the Phoenix Flower jutsu, and how to successfully defend himself against genjutsu. Since the death of Ichi had awoken something quite evil within Sukotto, the young man decided to devote his time to creating an extensive fighting style that could replace the more regular taijutsu form that was taught to most shinobi of Shimagakure in the academy that the village housed. After many grueling hours of training, Sukotto faced one last task before the jutsu became his own: He felt as though he needed to enter a taijutsu spar with someone that was similar in strength to himself, allowing him to test the strength of the new fighting style so that he knew it was ready for battle.

Sukotto paused once more, deciding to divert back to his original training session. Since he had gone over a few of the many strengths of the personalities that his two squad members in question had, Sukotto decided to focus on how to summon these strengths when they could actually be put to use in the various situations that the squads would encounter. With Serena, her patience and analyzation of the situations they would face would come naturally. In all honesty, it would be up to the Raiken to activate this part of her personality, but Sukotto was very sure that she’d be able to do it fairly easy. After all, this was one of the main reasons that he had selected her from among the other shinobi in the village. She always seemed to go about situations with a fairly open mind and would do just about everything that was asked of her. In particular, Sukotto remembered a small mission that Shinichi had once sent the girl out on. If his memory served correctly, it had to do with some sort of caveman who had been found frozen in ice. While the mission itself was relatively insignificant to the safety of the village, it really showed how well Serena could perform when she was expected to complete a task on her own.

Since he had taken a bit more time to think about the training at hand, Sukotto figured that it wouldn't hurt to divert once again, and allow himself to resume thinking about his previous fights. Since he needed to find someone near his level of skill to fight against, Sukotto decided he'd choose either Tenmoki Aya, or Tategami Maya, as he had always regarded them as two of the most powerful ninja in his age group at the time. Apparently, Aya had gone off on some sort of mission, so the obvious choice was Tategami Maya. Sukotto was quite happy with this, as the girl was known for her physical strength and teamwork with her lion companion. When the Uchiha asked Maya if she'd like to spar, her companion nudged Sukotto in a way that made it obvious that he wanted to participate as well. While Sukotto didn't want to put himself at a disadvantage, he knew that he wouldn't be fighting Maya at her full strength unless the lion was at her side, so he accepted the animal's request and agreed to a two-on-one taijutsu contest. The rules were as follows, no one could use offensive ninjutsu or genjutsu attacks, but the defensive versions of these techniques were allowed.

Sukotto's mind was jumping between his actual training and the thoughts about his previous fights. He again decided to switch back to thinking about his training, as he really needed to get it done before Shisei fell off of the cliff. In Shisei’s case, nearly the same would be true. In all honesty, if the squad came up against a foe who was more powerful than they, and it was likely that they would, then Shisei would be so driven to overcome the more powerful foe and gain as much power from the situation as possible, that the strengths of his personality would come out on their own. The more Sukotto thought about it, the more he liked the idea of Shisei’s thirst for jutsu; it was so much like the Uchiha’s own. Whenever Sukotto fought someone with an extrodinary ability,, he always considered ways to counter it. Often times, the best way to do so was with some sort of jutsu that turned this ability against its user, rendered it ineffective, or allowed him to use it to his advantage as well. If the squad faced such an opponent, both he and Shisei would think of ways to counter them after the fact, and if the pair put their heads together, it was likely that they’d be able to create a very powerful technique or set of training exercises to counter the said ability in case they ever ran into it again.

When he finished thinking about how to best activate the emotions that would help his teammates in battle, he began to think of what sorts of uses they could extract from these emotions. He had already covered much of this in his previous thoughts, but not as specifically as he had wanted to. Since Serena was so good at seeing every side of things before making up her mind about how to react to it, Sukotto figured that she’d be the best squad member under himself to combat a genjutsu-based opponent. If he managed to help her learn the advanced parts of her lightning jutsu, then she’d definitely be able to deliver strong attacks against her opponents, hopefully powerful enough to finish them before they even had a chance to use their illusions against her. If she missed with her lightning-based assault, and there was a chance for this since lightning seemed as if it was quite hard to control even for a shinobi, then Sukotto would have to have her ready to defend against any mind tricks that would be sent her way by the opponent who intended to disrupt her thoughts and use them against her.

For Shisei, Sukotto feared that he would one day become quite powerful and then begin to underestimate his opponents, and this was something that he’d have to train the boy to evade. In all honesty, Shisei’s own ego would be his worst enemy and greatest weakness in the future, in Sukotto’s opinion anyway. Beyond that, if the Orochi managed to act on his ambitions and learn the vast amount of jutsu that he desired to acquire, then he’d have a wide range of weaons to use against his opponents. With such a large hodgepodge of techniques to choose from, Shisei would be able to adapt to many, or even nearly every situation that he was faced with. Fortunately, Sukotto had similar ambitions, so he would be able to help the Orochi-born along with this difficult journey of learning a great number of jutsu to assist him in battle. The only difference would be that because of his Sharingan, Sukotto wouldn’t have to worry as much about training his own defenses, so he could focus on jutsu requirements more easily than he’d be able to allow Shisei to. He couldn’t allow Shisei to neglect his defenses, as having all the jutsu in the world would be useless if one couldn’t hold off an enemy’s attack long enough to use the important ones.

"Ugh. You really need to watch your weapons more carefully. I mean..your tessen is huge. It shouldn't be that hard to take better care of it." Serena continued to reach out towards Shisei until she caught onto his wrist. Was she going to have to pull him up herself? It looked like it. The Raiken took in a deep breath and moved her hand down towards the middle of the arm, making it easier for her to support him. This boy really wasn't too heavy, in her opinion, but it was still a bit of a challenge getting him up on the same limb as her, especially since she was only using one arm. The girl's left arm was gripping on to the side of the cliff, to make sure that she wouldn't fall as easily. From the looks of it, though, she might have to let go and pull her teammate up with both arms--in the most careful manner possible.

Switching tracks yet again, as he had somewhat stumbled in his thinking, Sukotto continued to think about his taijutsu sparring match against Tategami Maya and her lion companion, Baki. Since he was fighting against two opponents, Sukotto knew that he needed to do whatever he could to take away that advantage as early as he could, as their teamwork attacks were infamous for being both powerful and accurate. Since he didn't happen to have a jutsu that dealt with teamwork at the time, Sukotto knew that the only way to disable the advantage that Maya and Baki held over him was to take out one of them as quickly as possible, thereby eliminating their greatest strength and crippling their assault against him. While this sounded like a good idea, it came with risks. It would take time for Sukotto to take down even just one of his two opponents, so he knew that they'd probably get at least one shot at hitting him and he didn't expect them to miss. Since he had a pretty low level of endurance, this had worried Sukotto, because Maya and Baki may have only needed to land one hit on him in order to bring the somewhat frail Uchiha down with a physical attack.

Fortunately, Sukotto managed to sustain the hit, enabling himself to prepare another attack to launch against Maya and Baki. After the pair had struck him, Sukotto quickly rebounded from the ground and used a move from his taijutsu form to trip the lion, leaving the beast vulnerable for a more powerful taijutsu strike. Sukotto sprinted towards the downed lion and launched a flying side kick aimed at the back of the creature's head, which managed to successfully knock him out. Needless to say, the female Tategami didn't take this lightly, as her and Baki were so close that the two could nearly be considered one entity. Sukotto had planned on upsetting Maya with this move, as he figured it would distort any sort of strategy that she had against him, and he'd use her own emotions against her. It wasn't a very nice thing to do to a friend, but they were sparring, and the purpose of sparring was to prepare themselves for any sort of danger that could potentially lurk in the shadows, and Sukotto only wanted to help Maya prepare for a cunning enemy who was capable of figuring out this same weakness while she was on a mission.
