The air felt... fizzling. And the mine of course, would do little damage to Decruda; he was not a member of the undead.

Perhaps Decruda would not be able to cast any further spells for some time. He could feel the dampening effects of the weapon, and being an intelligent person, would not even bother wasting his spell levels trying to cast a spell that probably would not work.

However, the web spell would still be in effect, for it would be cast in the exact time Decruda entered the prime material once again, before the mine would detonate. Assuming that the mine would have to adjust to the pressure before the little mechanics of it would cause it to detonate, the web was faster. It sprang into existence at the same instant Decruda stepped into the prime. And as the mine did not dispel previous magical effects which created physical matter, the web would remain. The guards would not be fried by electricity and then fire, but that didnt matter, they were all facing the wrong direction, their bodies stuck in the position by sticky strands of goop, wepaons pointed in the wrong direction.

Tsk. how disappointing. So he wouldnt be able to cast any spells. So he'd have to resort to physical means. Completely fine with him. However, he was not going to step into the sticky substance and get himself stuck in it. That would be an idiotic idea.

He put away the glass dagger for a moment as he popped a small black cylinder into his mouth and then a thin tube between his lips. It had been a while since he had used the blowgun, but just as his ghouls would use the neurotoxins in the needles to paralyze victims, he'd do the same.

One at a time in rapid succession, he'd shoot one needle into the exposed flesh of the soldiers, primarily in the back of the necks. The toxin worked as an extremely potent sedative. It paralyzes the functions of the spinal chord, medulla oblongata, and central nervous system, causing a general sense of weakness in the muscles, a lowered heart rate, double vision, and delerium. It works fastest when applied to an area close to the poison's targetted areas, and is wuickly transported through bodily fluids, usually blood or the juices in the spinal column. Because it was such a powerful and quick acting toxin however, if antidotes which were not quickly administered to the victim, they may die of asphixiation due to the shutdown of their system.

And, as he would be firing at the soldiers, his left hand would once again draw the glass weapon, and when he finished pumping the guards up with toxins, he'd head off towards the elevator again, leaving the guards to suffocate while stuck in the web.

Eight Guards would survive the needles as the collars on their uniforms prevented the needles from penetrating thier bodies. However four of the guards would drop down gasping for air as their collars hadn't been positioned well enough to deal with the hits. The surviving guard would turn and fire their weapons towards the retreating Decruda. Their legs might have been stuck, but their torsos could still pivot enough to fire on him. The bullets would fire towards him at their normal rate of fire, the magical effects being interrupted by the blast.

((Actually, you had eight people left after the web spell was cast. So if eight people remained, thats wrong.))

As stated in the previous post, the guards had their weapons trapped pointed in the wrong direction. With simple deductive skills, this meant that their torsos and arms were of course, stuck, as opposed to their legs. Besides, what would be the point of just stopping someone's legs when stopping their entire body was much more effective. They could try to kick and step around, but it would matter much when their upper bodies did not move and they were held in place. Also, because of this, the guards which supposedly would drop, of course, wouldn't.

Anyways, being in an alley and all that, Decruda would simply turn the corner as he went. If the guards did manage to struggle their way to turn about in the web, while not getting poked by the needles in their collars in the process, they'd end up firing into the empty dark alley.

And so, a block down after weaving through the continual alleys, Decruda would pop back out into the street. He'd take a moment to find the direction of the elevator, and head towards that.

If Colonel Briggs had kept his radio on, there would be an increase in radio traffic, and such an urgent request for reinforcement would most likely reach him as well as several others.

This is patrol group Gamma, we're under attack and taking heavy losses in the cemetary sector! Requesting backup!

"I think food can wait until later, you have bigger problems," she said, showing her full I.D. "I'm Captain Red, of R.I.O.T., fifth squadron, heavy assault / weapons specialist at your service. Give me permision to go down there sir, I may be able to help contain the threat and minimize losses, please."

Briggs took on a hardened, yet sympathetic look to his face. He knew that some of his men were down there too, and for all he knew they could come under attack as well, but he couldn't afford to run about being hero and risk endangering the lives of others.

I'm sorry, but I can't do that. As much as it pains me to say it, those men are locked down there. If we make use of the elevators, whatever they are fighting might come up with them. There are many more patrol groups all over the Underground, and they can handle it themselves. More of our troops are down in the Underground than anywhere else. And I believe whole heartedly that they can get the job done.

He was silent for a while longer before he spoke up again.

R.I.O.T. eh? So you're also from Raven Industries.

He'd seen the ensignia on her I.D., and it would most likeley carry the symbol of R.I. on it as well.

Perfect. This was exactly the kind of distraction Lilith was hoping for. The only drawback was they were all fighting near the Talk about luck. But still, they probably wouldn't notice her, seeing as how there was a mad mage blasting all their buddies to the Abyss. He was clearly the bigger threat. Taking her chance, she began to sneak off toward the cemetary, and the promised sanctuary that was inside it's mausoleum.

"I understand completely, my services remain available if needed," she said.

She sighed worriedly, what in the world was going on here, why was Lament so important, was it because of the passes through the mountains and into the Nothernlands?

"Yes, like I said before, I'm here to get to find out who originaly attacked the city. Honestly, I think the first attack on the city was orchestrated by Ymiristan. I'm not sure about what is going on now, it doesn't seem like Yaits tactics. He likes to hit the unsuspecting, if he failed the first time he'd either throw every resource he had at Lament, or back off until you let your gaurd down. Of course, they are saying he's dead. Couldn't happen to a better man."

She waited a bit, wondering where they were going.

"I investigated the battleground, there wasn't anything left to investigate besides some cursed ground. I had an interesting run in with a harpy like woman before the lockdown, thought she might be a spy and tried to bring her in for questioning, but she used an orb to get away. She left behind some personal items though."

Well, it seems like you've had your hands full...

Evan White is very pleasant man. He gave me this weapon when I negotiated the contract with this city. In truth theres no reason for you to be living in inns and such. Theres a workgroup from Raven Industries doing construction work on the city. I'm sure you could stay with them wherever they may be staying. At least you'd be with your own people.

He smiled as he spoke.

"Well Colonel," she said, smiling back, "If you knew me, you'd realize I'm a little more independent than that. You've made it pretty clear that I've been a pain in the a**, so I'll be on my way and let you get back to work. I'm certainly capable of finding something to eat on my own."

She turned and started off in the opposite direction, toward a small restaurant that looked to be open.

"Don't worry, Colonel, I'll be on my way as soon as the lockdown is over, and I'll stay out of the way in the meantime. best of luck."

GOOD LUCK TO ALL PLANNING ON PARTICIPATING!

... or so said the flyers that seemed to spread like early snow through the city. In a small commonplace of the Outer City of Lament, was indeed a Heaven or Hell booth. Nothing all that fancy, to tell the truth. Three little girls that couldn't be older than 7 were tending a table under a tent, complete with a large banner. The girls all looked like identical twins, short blue hair, large blue eyes, pale skin and dresses of blue and silver decorated by numerous ribbons and frills. On the table was a pile of registration forms and a pencil, but the coupons were hidden from view.

The little squirrel is flown across the room, hitting against an adjacent wall. But instead of falling, the squirrel rebounds off of the wall and attaches to the face of whoever just kicked it

"No."

He would be in her way. Who was He? The same man that stopped the earlier dragon thing, if anyone was paying attention.

But anyway.

He still had his ninja hood on, in fact, he was still totally ninja'd out. His arms were firmly folded as he stood in front of her, clearly blocking her way. He seemed to just give off an aura of 'Don't ******** with me' and it would also seem clear he was a big fan of justice. The evidence for this support in what's right? The sudden abundance of his hand around her throat, and the presence of thousands of tiny barbs on his gloves- very similar to Spiderman, except metal and sharp. Lillith would probably be too worried about being noticed to be able to do anything to stop his arm shooting out, and considering the speed he demonstrated in defeating the dragon, she would be able to do little to stop it. The only thing that gave away his movement was the sound of air being torn during the motion- hardly enough warning for her to counter.

"You have killed people."

He lifted her up with ease, his hand barely even squeezing her, though she would have thousands of tiny cuts in her neck, hardly enough to do her any real damage, but sufficient enough to cause her some pain and thus distress.

"You have made people panic."

He squeezed slightly harder, enough to cut her airflow down a little bit.

"I'm not going to afford you the chance for redemption."

His hand suddenly tightened, with sufficient force to collapse and crush her wind pipe, his free hand extended with similar speed, a loose fist made.

"TSUH!"

Unlike his previous attack on the dragon, there wouldn't be a new hole on her face, instead she would fly back five or so feet, and hover, paralyzed and suffocating.

"Ahehe..."

He approached her, his feet not issuing even the sound of footsteps. His hand pressed gently against her face and he grasped, thumb on one side of her temple, pinky on the other. He grinned and stepped back, yanking his hand back rapidly.

Her face came with it.

((I could go into descriptions here, but I don't think it's really... tasteful to do so. <_< ))

((...you had Darshendros's permission before you mutilated his character without a chance to react, right Chris? ...Right?!))

The stranger continues to sit patiently before the gate, but as he waits, he opens his bundle. Grasping the bottom, he upends it onto the ground. Several pieces of white armor tumble out, making clacking noises as they hit one another. He pulls on all the pieces as he stands, beginning with the chest and breastplate, next fastening the greaves, then slapping the shoulderplates on, and finally strapping on the bracers. Now that his armor is on, the stranger's bearing and stature seem to be more noble, a representative of bygone days standing before men and women of the modern world. He then stands there, looking completely at ease with his surroundings and slightly grim, as though awaiting some great evil to spring out of nowhere...
