On page 28 or so where there's that book list, and it mentions Yookoso, I by no means recommend that book. It's terrible. Terrible.
Minna No Nihongo was the best thing to ever happen to my Japanese. That, and 文化中級日本語, and some other grammar guides that might only be buyable from a Japanese bookshop. But for beginners, I recommend Minna No Nihongo. Scratch that, I swear my life on it.
