Starbranded Hey, I like the bad boy Gerard he just sucked major toot in POTO. Yes i know the Crawford is in his sixties but that would have fit the profile much better than sir hunky-one-looker. That and Crawford's voice turns me to goo. The funny thing was there was a big ol' petition going around when Webber first expressed the idea to make the movie for Crawford to be cast as the Phantom. My opinion is they should've gotten one of the current theater Phantoms like Hugh Panaro do it.

Psh, I have issues with 5. If anyone says that there isn't a book, and they know me well, they wouldn't say it. All my friends have seen me reading POTO at least once this year. (And at least half have seen the cover...muahaha*)

My biggest pet peeve is when I'm talking to someone about opera and they start talking about PotO. It happens way too often. Not that I don't like talking about the musical, but it is not an opera...Maybe I'm just oversensitive. Normally I would be delighted to change the subject of a conversation to PotO.

People think it's an opera because it has the word in the title. It's set in an Opera House, that's as far as it gets to touching the word.

Eh, it's just one of those things, I guess...

Actually, now she gets them, cause she listened to it. It's all good now.

In sleep he sang to me In dreams he came That voice which calls to me And speaks my name ...
I sing opera (yes, you read it right) and I can tell you, Phantom is NOT and opera. It's just an ah-mazing musical that I love. =D Something becomes a musical when there is a spoken word in it (I know, but it's true)
... And do I dream again? For now I find The phantom of the opera is there, Inside my mind

You don't have to be able to sing Opera to know the difference. You just have to have common sense, which is a lacking quality in people these days.

Exactly. but I have something that's been said wayyy too many times, and I'm still gonna say it:
So one of my friends is obsessed with POTO. She started talking about how 'I think the Phantom is way hotter than Raul.' yes, that's how she spelled Raoul, too. That was all she said about anything at all. Oi, then I went on to rant how the phantom's not supposed to be 'sexy' or anything. As usual, some ALW fans are just like 'ZOMGTHEPHANTOMISSOHAWTANDSEXYANDYUMMY!!1!1!!!'
They need to be exposed to real theater. (not that 2004 wasn't theater, it was just overly rushed.)

Technically, the film wasn't theater. It was an adaptation from theater. What they need to be exposed to is a naked picture of a skeletal Erik. Would shut them up right proper.

I don't like #1. Erik was a genius who created beautiful music. Who cares what he looks like? I bet they don't even care about the story, just the guys. rolleyes
