James stared at his brother. He knew very well that his brother excelled in shield charms and he knew that Hikakaru was the one that helped him. He looked back at Galen and asked. "Is he dead?" refering to Richard.
Hikakaru tried to act the part of death eater hoping knowing would notice what he just did. He shot avada kedavra at his brother. He knew the shield he previously created for his brother would hold so he didnt have to worry about his brother getting hurt. The Avada Kedavra hit the shield and instead of reflecting this time, it just sowly diminished.
A death eater looked over at Ryu who appeared to be another death eater. "Where the hell have you been? we are in the middle of fighting off the Resistance as ordered by Lord Voldemorte." the death eater knew that ryu couldnt be a real death eater, if he was then he would of known what was going on. He pulled his wand out and shouted. "Crucio!" and waited for the effects to take in on Ryu.

Alyssa stood in the shadow's for a long minute. Her eyes wandered around the battle that was going on. Shaking her head she saw James, and decided that she'd make her way towards him. She pulled out her wand, and yelled spells at the Death Eaters trying to attack her on her way. Finally arriving next to James she whispered to him. "Long time no see. How are we doing?" She asked, refering to the resistance.

"I'm not sure right of, James, but it's safe to guess he more than likely is." Galen said softly as she stared at the motionless form of Richard. "I suppose it's for the best, James." She saw more green sparks traveling towards James, only to be absorbed by a shield charm. "What a strong shield spell... Even I can't create one that strong." She took her position next to James and nodded lightly at Hikakaru. "Keeping up appearances won't do you much good as far as they are concerned. They want to see fearlessness and hatred in their leaders. Perhaps you have the first but you cannot have the second being that you are so connected to James. Why else would you protect him with a shield?"

Ryu whiped out his wand and whispered, "Protego horribilis." and stopped the curse. "I was busy with something. You can ask the Dark Lord himself what I've been doing." He pointed his wand at his left sleave.

James nodded at Galen and then looked back at Alyssa. "Its looking way better for us right now sense there leader is dead now. I think we may have to fight the rest of them off tell they run but I dont know, im waiting for Galens next orders." he said to her shouting stupify at one of the nearest death eaters.
"I did not shield him from that spell. He did that himself" lied Hikakaru. "As for hatred, I have plenty of that stored up." which was very true. Only his hatred was directed at the death eaters and all they have done. After all, being a death eater when you arent evil like them would definatly build up hatred over time. He looked at the dark mark on his arm and thought to himself. 'its to late for me now, I already have the dark mark. I cant turn back even though I want to.'
The death eater that attacked Ryu still had his wand pointed at Ryu. He began to lower it and say. "Very well" and turned his back on him to watch what was going on between Galen and Hikakaru.

Ryu walked among the Death Eaters. He noticed a few people he knew, and some he didn't. He also noticed the Resistence. So many things were hapening in this small town. He crept into the shadows of a nearbye building and waited for things to happen.

Galen nodded silently to what James had said, leaving that conversation alone. Then what Hikakaru said ruffled her notably. But in her speech she was every bit of the calm leader that the war had trained her to be. "Ah... I'd believe that if it was a basic spell that had been absorbed but I'm afraid only true masters of Defense can cast a Shield Spell powerful enough to absorb a Killing Curse. Any decent wizard would know a strong opponent when they saw them. And I must say that there is a chance..." She stopped as her addressee looked down, a look of regret flashing in his eyes for a split second "I do have a bit of advice for you if you'll listen. There's always a chance to change your own fate, your own life. You must actively seak that chance and grasp it for dear life. If you regret anything live in a way that ceases that regret... That way you can..." She stopped again as she moved slightly closer to the boy "never regret again."

Hikakaru looked at the ground at the end of Galens speech deep in thought. The battle all around them was not going the way the death eaters wanted. Soon they started apperating way. They kept on apperating till there was one left. Hikakaru was standing still looking at the ground and then he looked up at Galen not flinching one bit at the site of a hundred wands pointed at him. He took a deep breath and said. "What if changing my fate the way I want it means sealing the fate of my loved one? " If that question could be answered with a reasonable answer that made sence to Hikakaru then he would stay and take his chances saving her a different way.

Galen first motioned for the resistance to lower their wands so she was the only one that still pointed her wand at Hikakaru. But she had her reasons as was illustrated by her responce "you must decide what is most important: the loved one's freedom or yours. And fate is never sealed completely. There is always a chance to change things for the better if you only take it. Sometimes this chance is cast aside because it goes against what someone might look for in their chances and only then is a fate sealed. Even with the darkest of circumstances there is always a glimmer, however small, of hope and light at the end. You must actively shape what you want to happen, even if it is difficult. No satisfaction will come without risking something else." She smiled lightly as she too lowered her wand as well, giving him a choice with the motion. "If he truly chooses this path then my fate will be decided here as well. But I think he is just confused and scared."

Hikakaru listened but didnt pay much attention to the rest of what she said. The only thing that rung in his mind over and over were the words. 'you must decide what is most important: the loved one's freedom or yours.' He put his wand in his pocket and said. "thank you for talking to me. Her freedom is more important to me so I must keep living in this hell." and with that he bowed, putting the hood over him as he turned around. He stopped for one second. "The next time our paths cross...we'll be enemies." and with that he apperated away.

Galen nodded weakly as he said that they would be enemies but let it go. "Yes, I suppose we will..." She said at the air that had just a second before been the location of Hikakaru. "Well, James, we have won a hard fought battle but the war is far from over. We must protect what we have liberated and continue fighting until the other side yields their true leader. Only when the king falls can the kingdom be conquered." She said this in a philosophical tone as she scratched her chin in a thoughtful motion. "And we must instill hope in the next generation that our fight is an honorable one." As she said this the owl she had sent to the Ministry returned carrying a message wrapped around its leg. "Looks like they've finally decided to reply, eh?" The owl hooted and landed on her shoulder and she reached with her hand to remove the letter. Once the delivery was taken care of, the owl hooted again and took off into the trees. She looked at the letter, addressed to James. "This letter is actually for you, James." She held it out, address facing James, and sighed. "I just hope it isn't what I fear it is" ((You may write whatever you feel is right for the letter.))

James opened the letter and read out loud" We have been told of the death eaters return. We think it is absurd but you shouldnt dwell over such trivial matters. An informant has sceen you use the unforgivible curse known as 'Avada Kedavra' and without proof of reason, you will be detained at once and sentence to Azkaban." After James finished reading the last line he dropped the letter to the ground and incenerated it imidiatly with his wand as if somehow it would prevent him from going to Azkaban. He looked into the crowd of the resistance and said to Galen "It seams we have a spy with us." Thats all he could manage to say. He was keeping unusually calm though for someone that was about to be thrown in Azkaban.

Galen nodded weakly before saying "it would seem someone did indeed report your actions to the Ministry but not as a spy but to explain why. Obviously they didn't explain that very well. That owl..." She pointed at the woods that the owl had disappeared into "Was mine... I was the one that reported the reason." At this the owl returned with another letter. "If this is another Azkaban warning I swear I will scream." She nodded as she removed the letter, this one addressed to her. She cleared her throat and read the letter aloud. "Galen, in accordance to rule 730 of extenuating circumstances the lad in question is not covered by this rule. Unfortunately proving a person's feelings is not allowed by this law. 'Avada Kedavra' is an unforgivable curse no matter the circumstances during which it was used. We are truly..." She stopped reading and threw the letter on the ground "alright, who wrote the letter before my owl went? I swear I will weed you out." Before she could finish her threat a hand went up slowly. "Damn it... You promised not to report this to the Ministry. We all knew that one of us would have to use that curse in the course of today's battle. We discussed it at the planning stage of this battle." "He is not exempt from the rules, as it was not discussed which of us would have to use that curse. And that curse cannot be planned. You know that very well, Galen." Came the male's voice as he growled another response "That's why we should not have started this battle whatsoever. We should have just given up." "I see what you are doing Ken, you are saying that we should have just walked away. But we couldn't. We couldn't let Hogwarts fall and we could not allow the Death Eaters keep Hogsmeade." Galen pointed her wand at Ken "So what do I do with a traitor." She thought for a second and muttered a quick curse. Or, rather, something she'd never used since seeing what it did to another "Sectumsempra" She said as her eyes changed to a darker shade as anger hit her full force. The sparks of the spell hit the male hard and caused deep gashes to appear on his body, his blood spilling out onto the battle field. As this happened a group of Aurors appeared out of nowhere behind James. "The letter the Ministry received was a lie. James never cast the Unforgivable Curse known as 'Avada Kedavra'. I did. My followers said another cast it to protect me but I must admit to my own crimes to spite their efforts. If you ask any of my fellow Resistance members they will tell the truth. They will tell you that I was the one that preformed the curse. You can search my wand if you so desire." She held out her wand and looked down as if guilty in order to convince the Aurors not to take the boy. She did indeed cast the curse but some time in the previous day so the tracking would pick up on that fact as well as the obvious confession. But at the moment she cared not for timing. "Don't blame the boy for my wrongs." ((That didn't go according to plan... Ah well)).

James looked at Galen astonished that she was taking the blame for this. He would not be able to live with the guilt of her going to Azkaban in his stead so he pulled his wand out and said. "No, she is lying, it was me. You can check my wand. She did nothing." He knew Galen would be very angry with him but he didnt care. "Do you have a television in Azkaban though? It might get quite boring there." he said to the Aurors trying to lighten the situation for his own benefits.
