Her senses came back one by one. Sight, sound, smell, a coppery taste... Orika licked her finger, but found no blood. Finally, her sense of touch came rushing back at a furious pace and the girl was hit instantly with a dull pain in her ribs and a stinging sensation on her face. Never being one too concerned with looks, Orika was way more worried about the fight and how she was supposed to take on two opponents. She looked at the present situation. Karite had flipped to a position too far away for her to approach comfortably and Kore was practically on top of her, the distance separating them being no more than a few centimeters. She could feel his bushy hairs tickle her skin. She knew the lion was powerful so the question remained: Just how much had Karite improved? Was she willing to wait to find out? The thoughts flashed through Orika's brain without coming to a conclusion. However, when the Tenmoki clone came outside with Kore's meat, an idea sparked into mind. "Shouldn't eat so fast after exercise!" Orika joked with a sinister smile. She bent down low and wrapped an arm around one of Karite's paws from the front, quickly getting the elbow up tight against his furry chest. The girl dropped to one knee and curled into a ball, effectively trying to flip Kore over her shoulder onto his side. Since the lion was so heavy, it was more like knocking him off balance, but any slam to the ground was bound to hurt! Once that maneuver was done, whatever the result, she reached for Kore's other front leg and hugged it to her chest. Orika pressed her knees against Kore and twisted the leg over while pushing out her hips. Kore would feel the pain!

((Ignore second roll for Kore not level 5))

Kore was surprised the girl did not dodge his attacks but even more surprised she reacted so quickly, but she was trying to wrestle a lion, he grew up wrestling monsters much bigger than her. Reaching in to grab his leg Kore forget how small this humans were, they could weave in and out of his legs like mere mice could. The girl knew what she was doing and seemed to have learned something in her time period away from the grounds, but she was still a stupid girl. Grabbing his other leg he was quickly brought to the ground. Kore was hopping his partner behind him would be willing to aid him. His brother and friend, besides there was food in the mix, and he was getting kind of hungry.

Karite noticed that the lion dodge Orika's first grapple, but he didnt have the experience to go toe-to-toe with a gennin. Not wanting to see Kore hurt Karite ran over and jumped over Kore bring down a heel aiming for Orika's arm. If he hit she would have to let go, and if he didn't then she would have to let go to dodge. As soon as she did Karite would perform a louts spin kick either way she was getting hit with something. "I thought I told you beautiful, don't forget to look around, remember we Tategami fight in pairs." While it was the first time in a long time Karite had fought anyone with Kore it felt good, it felt natural. This is why Maya pushed it so hard, this is why she wanted them to be together. In a fight they merged and become one force from hell. They were a unstoppable powerhouse.

"Kore, Lets stop playing." Karite was ready to go he needed to see the village and sitting her wasnt getting anything accomplished. Karite wondered what was going on at the Apartments. It wasnt often that he saw smoke like he did last night. That and Yuki was still gone. Walking towards the apartments he hoped the fence and began running. Whistling for Kore to follow on his heels as always.

Kore stopped fooling around and shook the little girl off him. Standing up and growling the lion swished his tail back and forth. Slinking off his golden eyes drifted off as he followed Karite soon running himself.

[Akiko starts, Summer 1]

Akiko woke up, but she wasn't in her bed. Somehow, she found herself downstairs, asleep in the garden. The summer heat was especially cruel to the flowers; most of them had dried up and wilted, cooked through. She supposed she wouldn't be able to make any of Aunt Yuki's candy anymore... but at that thought, she stopped. She let out a weary sigh. Over a short period of time, she had seen so much death and destruction; how she survived, she didn't know. But, one thing lingered on her mind: what does she do now?

The thought turned over and over in her head. She laid amongst the flowers, running her fingers softly over the burnt husks. She couldn't get it out of her head--any of it. The images were seared into her memory; she feared she would see them wherever she turned. She had been too weak to do anything but watch; she felt absolutely helpless.

She pulled herself over to the crystal pool, almost dragging herself across the ground. The water was cool and still. She let her fingers dangle into the pond, watching as the ripples flowed outward. Staring into the pool, she felt like she could just let go of everything, if only for a moment.

Akiko could feel something in the cool water, something deep in her spirit. It was cool and calming, much like the liquid around her fingers. The light in her eyes faded, and her body went limp. She wasn't dead... though she was only a shell of what she once was. Images danced around in her head--those of her family as well as those of all the others who had died in that deadly attack. But, none of them remained; she could only hold onto one thought for a brief moment before it flitted away. Her face was cold and emotionless, a void canvas whose blank eyes lazily traced a line from side to side. Her body was motionless; even if she wanted, she wouldn't be able to find the energy to do so. She was trapped in crippling apathy.

As the images passed through her mind, Akiko found that she could simply "let go" of the images. All the suffering she had seen seemed far away. The memories of her loved ones were suddenly put out of her mind. The pain she had felt, the emotional turmoil she had experienced from losing so many people so close to her.. now, it was as relevant to her as the fact that the ocean was wet. She hadn't dealt with the issues at all; she had simply figured out how to put it to the side for a moment or two. Now, she could better appreciate the stillness. As she laid there, dew began to form on Akiko's body, the morning air chilling her skin slightly. But, she was alive... if not really there anymore.

The chill began to seize her body. As the emotional pain submerged into her subconscious, a more primal need arose: self-preservation. Looking back on this time, Akiko found it a little funny that, when she just got finished suppressing her emotional needs, her bodily needs would surface. Perhaps her survival instincts necessitated that repression. After all, how could she expect to come to terms with her trauma if she froze to death first? Nevertheless, despite this coldness, she stayed perfectly still. She let the cold seep into her body, seizing her from head to toe. In a way, she relished that feeling. It made her feel numb and remarkably sleepy. As the morning went on, her drowsiness grew, and she almost drifted off to sleep...

Before her eyes, a swift fog swirled about her body. It spread outward, engulfing everything that crossed its path. She could barely see what was right next to her. There was the pool of water, the bed of flowers, and a pillar... but where did everything else go? Though she was utterly exhausted, she somehow found the energy to push herself up and put her back up against the marble column. With childlike wonder, she gazed around at the area, her mouth slightly agape. Her eyes slowly trailed down toward the ground, at which point she gasped. There, on the ground, she saw her own body. With a terrified shriek, she crawled over to her body and tried to shake it but found nothing to grasp. "NO! I'm not dead, not dead, not dead, not dead!" she pleaded desperately.

[Enter from Ruined Village]

While he was on his way from the center of the village to the nearby shoreline of the island, Sukotto couldn't help but hesitate for a moment as he passed by the residence of the Tenmoki clan. As his eyes traced the shape of the building, he could nearly see Aya's smiling face as the girl used her charm to get what she wanted out of Ichi. That vision was interrupted when he could almost hear Yuki scolding the girl for being so childish. It seemed as though the Uchiha had been forced to rely on his memories more and more as he grew older. He knew that this was the way of life, but the Chuunin had hoped to grow old before having to resort to his memories in order to visit those who were once close to him. He didn't even know if the sprightly Tenmoki was even alive anymore, as the village itself hadn't been the only target of the intruders.

The shinobi began to walk by the house in the direction of his destination, but stopped suddenly as he noticed an irregularity in the garden. Upon closer inspection, he could tell that it was in fact a person. If the village hadn't been compromised by an attack, then Sukotto would have just strolled on by. However, he couldn't take any chances and decided to check out who the figure was. As he got a little closer, the Chuunin saw that the form belonged to a young girl. At first, his heart skipped, as the illusions of the morning light shaped her image into that of Aya's. However, Sukotto shook away that impossibility and allowed himself a closer look. It appeared as though it was Tenmoki Akiko, the academy student who looked much younger than she actually was due to her size and facial structure. In Sukotto's research of the younger shinobi of Shimagakure, the Uchiha had found that the girl was quite bright and showed promising chakra-based abilities, which had been common among the Tenmoki that Sukotto had known.

Another step towards the girl was all that Sukotto needed to realize that she was either unconscious or sleeping. Unfortunately, the fact that she was outside in the garden suggested the former, but he just couldn't be certain. She was breathing, at least. Sukotto had always hated to wake the sleeping, so he hesitated for a moment, just hoping that the girl would suddenly rise on her own and be fine.

Intelligence Training - Determining Potential Strategy
While running Serena and Shisei through an exercise that pinned the two of them against himself, Sukotto has decided to consider what he would do if he had been placed in their shoes, while also allowing his mind to dance within the battles that he has experienced over the course of his career as a young shinobi.

Akiko clutched her sides. She couldn't believe what had happened. Had she really died? So many things had happened that fateful spring, but she wasn't aware of any injuries. Perhaps it was the cold that finally did her in... or maybe, from the strain of it all, she just "turned off", so to speak. She stared out at the fog-choked grounds, a little jittery from the shock of finding herself dead. Her vision began to flash as the world's colors began to fade in and out. It became harder to make out shapes, but she saw someone standing over her body. She wanted to cry out to him, but in her agitated state, she couldn't even use her own voice.

Akiko's head felt like it was being cleaved by a sharp axe. It was a relief that she could feel that sort of pain--how could she be dead if she could still feel pain? But that didn't resolve the question of what had happened to her. She couldn't even begin to process the questions that weighed on her mind. In a pain-wracked haze, she reached out toward the person who had appeared. Her hands slipped through the figure's shoulder like a rake through sand, gouging out a trail where her fingers once were. Oddly enough, the figure reconstructed itself just seconds after the ghostly wound was made. She couldn't understand this; she couldn't understand anything. She fell to her knees, clutching her head, hoping and praying that the pain would soon pass.

The pain intensified, seeming as if it were cutting through her very skull. She breathed in sharply as every muscle in her face contorted. Her breathing became labored, and soon she found herself worrying more about air than about her head. Her fingers clutched the grasses and flowers under her hands, hoping to somehow brace herself. The fog around her formed violent eddies with every gasp for breath. In spite of her difficulty breathing, she tried to take deep breaths. This created a steady rhythm which, over the course of at least a minute, managed to re-establish a steady supply of air. As her breathing became regular again, so too did the world around her. The world no longer flickered between vivid color and muted whiteness; it was simply covered with fog. The winds died down, and the pain she had felt was no longer there. Now, she could properly assess where she was.

She stood up and looked around again. The man was still there, hovering over her body. She wasn't certain that it was her body, though. She realized that both were quite a few feet away, well-obscured by the fog. Then, she wondered, why could she see them? Or, more appropriately, how could she still sense them? She was certain she couldn't see anything; after all, if she were some sort of spirit right now, she wouldn't have the eyes to do so. But, somehow, she could make sense of the world just fine. It also occurred to her that she was much calmer now. When she was at peace, the world looked... or "sensed" like this. When she got anxious, well, she had other things to worry about than her surroundings. Then, somehow, she had found her way into a land... or a realm, perhaps... of peace. She couldn't quite put it into words, but somehow she felt a deep connection to the earth. She wondered where exactly she was. Was she a spirit, a ghost? Or was this something else entirely? There were so many questions, so many observations to be made... but this, this was something she knew she had to feel.

She stood there in the mist, a distance from the person and her own body. She was completely blind, completely deaf, and yet she could see and hear everything. She could even make out small details, if she concentrated enough. Then, perhaps, she might be able to see other things, as well. She tried to "sense" around the garden. She started right in front of her: her own hand. Somehow, she could make it out, even though the fog obscured it entirely. Yet, she could also feel the fog. It was swirling around her fingertips, clinging to her skin as it parted and passed around it. She wasn't commanding the fog to do so; it just swirled about on its natural course and just happened to hit her hand along the way. She "looked" back out toward her body, and indeed, the fog was swirling around it like a river's current hitting a rock or the air whistling through the trees. Somehow, she could gather information like this. That led her to question what exactly that fog was. It wasn't like any fog she had seen before. Most fog rolled in; this fog spiraled outward from her own body. Was it... was this her chakra? No... it felt similar, but somehow she intrinsically knew it was something a little different. But it might be possible to use her chakra to replicate the same thing. So, if she could, then couldn't she actively use this sort of sense to look at things? She looked toward the figure leaning over her body. She used this sense to wrap the fog around the person. The details of the man's face and body became clearer, and she could almost make out the man's image. He seemed familiar; had she seen him before in the village? Or perhaps he visited her Aunt Yuki before. She wasn't sure which. At least she knew that this worked. Perhaps she'd be able to replicate the same thing with her chakra... but she wasn't positive. She'd have to test that later, but for now, she felt exhausted. She walked over to her body and laid down upon it.

In the small pond, Akiko's finger began to twitch. Then, it steadily rose, bringing the rest of her hand with her. Her eyes cracked open, and she slowly rolled her head over until it looked up at the morning sun. She was back; the world was vibrantly-colored, without respect to the terrible tragedy that had occurred. She found a little bit of strength, and with that, she turned herself over until she laid on her back. The moisture from the morning dew pressed up through her robe and onto her back, making her feel clammy and uncomfortable. Worse, though, was the cold; she was still quite chilly, in spite of the summer heat. "I... I'm cold," she managed, looking up at the man from the village.

Thankfully, Sukotto didn't have to wait long for the girl to rise from whatever state of consciousness she had been in. He stuck to guessing that she had been sleeping, but he could sense her chakra acting a little strange, so he wasn't sure if it was in fact a slumber. "Well it must be your lucky day, because I can take care of that quite easily." The Uchiha gathered a few dried weeds that had invaded the once well tended garden, and arranged them into a small pile in front of the girl. He then lifted his right hand to his face, lowered his head towards the dried up vegetation, and gently blew a thin flame against the weeds. Having used his own fire jutsu many times, Sukotto had become adept at creating small flames when needed. Since he didn't put any explosive power behind the flame, it didn't really require any noticeable amount of chakra. As the pile caught fire, the warm orange and reddish glow danced along the Chuunin's face, which had formed into a warm smile to match. "There you go. You do seem quite chilled and normally a mere fire wouldn't be enough. However, this flame is laced with my chakra so you'll notice a much deeper warmth when you get close to it." Having given the girl what she had needed, Sukotto allowed a small sigh to escape his lips and then sat on the ground, resting his weight on his hands which were placed behind his back. "I don't believe we've really had the chance to meet. I know that you are Tenmoki Akiko, because I've read over nearly everyone's files on the island. My name is Uchiha Sukotto and I'm pleased to meet you. Mind if I ask what you're doing outside on a chilled morning like today?"

As he waited for her response, Sukotto began to consider the mission that had been set before him. Unfortunately, he would know next to nothing about his squad, besides what he had read in their files. Unfortunately, files could only really tell so much about any individual. To really understand the abilities of a shinobi, Sukotto knew that he'd be required to get to know them on a personal level. He looked forward to seeing what his new squad members would have to offer, and hoped that they would be ready for the mission that had been set before them.

Intelligence Training - Planning for the Devil Marked Extermination Mission
While gathering up the members for the squad to take on the task of clearing Shimagakure's wilderness of the infected beasts, Sukotto has decided to take some time to make a few plans for the new team.
