"Probably check in on the rest of the children," Donovan murmured, "And then see to my bags, I brought more than what I need for a trip out, so will probably have to resort it for the trip tomorrow."

Then which probably left him to wander around a bit more, because otherwise he had nothing to do. Which was a bit odd when this was a place he owned.

"Can I go wander?" Lin asked Donovan.
"As long as you don't bug anyone."

Ulrich nodded. "You may want to check on Aliya and Feng and Ryu," he suggested. "Aliya's never taught anyone before, and I'm curious to know how it's all going." He chuckled softly.

"At any rate, I must be heading home. I'll see you in the morning, hopefully with news." And he waved and headed off to the east.

Donovan waved back, "See you in the morning then."

With that Donovan turned to go back where he had saw Aliya and the twins during his tour. After all it would be good to see how the two were faring and how Aliya was faring with them.

Aliya meanwhile had only just gathered up the horses that they needed and brought them into the corral.

"Make sure you don't approach them too quickly," she warned Feng and Ryu, "or from the front. It's always dangerous to approach a horse from the front, they can't see in front of them. From the side, then, and slowly, so that they can see you and don't feel threatened."

Of course it wouldn't be too bad with old horses like this, but with the younger ones caution was imperative.

Even at their height horses were big creatures, and Feng and Ryu knew what would happened if the horses became spooked. It was probably the equalitive to pissing off Arc Ryu supposed.

The two climbed over the fence, in a very odd unison that they rarely did unless told to do the same thing they approached the horses from the side. It was odd to see Feng take things slow, but perhaps because she was gaining the pace from her brother, even though neither of them seemed aware they were matching each other step by step. Cautioniously they held their hand out to the creatures, wavering it there for a moment before gently petting them.

Donovan watched the three work from a distance. He had put Lin down before getting any closer since she wanted to run off and do gods knew what.

"Hmm.. I thought the two grew out of that," he murmured to himself noting how the twins seemed to copy each other's moves.

Granted it was done seamlessly so if you were to guess who was copying who, you couldn't tell. Not that they were even copying each other, it was just something they did without realizing. It was kind of amusing to watch them go through their katas because of it as children. He wondered if they would still do the same now.

In the mean time, Lin flroicked, (if such an odd child would do that) back the way her Daddy came from towards the barracks. It held a much greater interest than her, since no one in their right mind would let her near horses.

"Good," Aliya nodded, walking slowly around them. "Stand on the left side of the horse. Always always always mount from the left."

She honestly didn't know why that was, but for some reason horses always shied away when someone tried to mount from the right.

As they moved to stand beside the horse's left, Feng tilted her head a bit. She viewed the horse curiouslity before asking Aliya.

"Why is that?"

She ran, ran as quickly as she could across the area to reach the large building that she could not miss. Then again at her height it was pretty hard to miss any of the buildings. Unfortunately there was something Lin forgot.

The door.

The little girl glared up at it as if she expected it to open. Didn't look like it would.

Aliya shrugged and grinned. "No idea," she admitted with a laugh. "But I don't suggest you try mounting from the right. I tried it once ... it didn't end well."

She'd ended up with a broken leg and three broken ribs from that little incident. Needless to say, her mother hadn't been pleased.

"Anyways, the place where you're going to want to sit is forward on the horse's back, right behind the shoulders. Not on them, just behind them."

She stepped forward and showed the twins by patting the spot with her hands.

A tall presence appeared behind Lin almost from nowhere, and icy blue eyes stared way down at the child, watching her watch the door.

"Do you need some help?" Elros asked in a soft voice, his face expressionless.

Of course they would have to be shown, since they weren't going to be using saddles. Ryu studied the area, before looking at the horse. He supposed his only discomfort was wondering how horses would take to being mounted in the first place, but they were going to have to get up either way.

"Did your Dad threaten to lock you in the house after that?" Feng asked as she placed her hand on the area where she wanted to put her butt.

Lin jumped and whirled around, normally one would be frightened, but Lin's face broke out into a wide smile. For her, even though she couldn't get to the door, she found what she was looking for anyways.

"Uhm... not anymore," Lin replied, "Are you busy?"

Might as well get right to it, besides she didn't really know how to beat around the bush.

Aliya blinked. "Lock me in the house?" she repeated. "Why in Arda would he do something like that? I mean, Mum refused to heal me, so I was kind of stuck in the house for half a year anyways, but still ..."

Going back to the topic of horses, she added, "Normally you would grab both sides of the saddle to help yourself, and you would have a foothold in a stirrip for a lift - bareback you have neither of those. You have to get up on your own."

She eyed the twins thoughtfully. "You're tall .. you shouldn't have too much trouble with it. Would you like me to show you first?"

Elros blinked at Lin, and for the first time in a very long time, his face took on an expression - he was confused.

"I ... am not," he replied slowly, puzzled. "May I enquire as to why?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 05, 2007 5:25 pm

"Please," Ryu replied to her question.

Partly because he was at a lost in how to even though she was probably right about not having a hard time getting on the horse. It was just trying for the first time that was going to be difficult.

Lin looked at him innocnetly enough, which wasn't hard for her even though she wouldn't want to admit cuteness had a factor into it.

"Daddy says I can't go bug people, people get bugged more if they're working."
