Xenon was now making quicker progress, his knowledge of what the records looked like coming in handy in his previously blind search. The Scroll's identity was placed at the back of his mind as the Author noted that he had found some clue to it's continued existence, that it had disappeared after a certain violent event, and that he might at long last be on the path to reclaiming it. Xenon sincerely hoped now that the man hadn't simply handed it over to the Otokage, it would do him no good to learn that the secret art was deep in one of Kasuke's vaults. Not only would it be madness to try and reclaim, his preference toward being loyal to this country would prevent him from retrieving it, even if he COULD do it by force.

Xenon continued to ponder over the scroll's identity, but he was also now trying to recall anything and everything that he'd ever heard about the Snake Sennin, trying with his all to scrounge up some forgotten detail that he might have overlooked.

Orochimaru was, at his core, a very pitiful soul. Xenon, even when he was a child, had felt sorry for him...he could remember that, indeed, he could remember it very clearly...

Xenon looked now across the small lake, his eyes soaked with tears. "Mom...did I do something wrong?"

His mother sat down next to him on the rock, holding the umbrella over the both of them. "No..." she put an arm around him "It wasn't your fault dear..."

Xen closed his eyes "I tried to help him...I really did...but..." his eyes swelled up with silent tears.

His mother rest her head atop his, hugging him "It's alright sweety, your dad's a great doctor, and even he loses patients sometimes..."

Xen's eyes stemmed the tide of tears, his failure to save the animals life dulling as his expression became ponder-some. "Mom...I was thinking...do you remember the story about the first Otokage...?"

His mother lifted her head and looked about at his face, slick still from the rain. She started to wipe his face dry with her sleeve as she acknowledged "Yes."

Xen looked thoughtful, albeit still a bit down trodden. "Remember how he was a really bad person...and he stole peoples bodies just so he could keep living..." His mother nodded, finished drying his face. "I think...I think I understand him now..."

His mother tilted her head, Xenon the elder just realized where he'd gotten that habit, her voice still comforting "You do?"

Xen nodded "He didn't start off a bad person...he was just... afraid to die." his mother smiled at something "I understand how he felt... to be afraid to die...he just got so afraid that he stopped caring about other people...he stopped realizing that other people are afraid to die too."

His mom looked out across the lake with him. "And...what do you think about that?"

The younger Xenon seemed certain. "I think he made a mistake when he stopped acknowledging other people...but...," he looked down slightly "I think...that maybe it wasn't all his fault." he nodded "He was just a scared little boy who got his way too much...,"

His mother smiled again, her warm proud smile "I think that's very insightful of you my little one."

Xen didn't seem to impressed with himself, but he did continue. "I think...even after all that, even after all he did...I think I can forgive him."

Yes... Xenon recalled it all too well...but though those words were spoken through a veil of naivete, Xenon still felt the same way. It was perhaps this that didn't make him the least hesitant of mastering the man's Jutsu. Orochimaru's Genius, on of his redeeming qualities, should have been passed on in some small way...even if the madness had ruined the man himself...

Xenon's skills were not something to be taken lightly, this was true, but even he was awed at some of the things he had heard about Orochimaru. Much of it was probably just hearsay, but where there was smoke there was fire, and there was a veritable inferno surrounding the First Otokage. As he found another record, his eyes devouring it without fault, he really did feel he was getting close to something, a revelation that had not yet occurred to him.

The Author's search for the relic continued, his unending drive to find it now boarding on excitement. He seemed to have found out that it might have been taken by Orochimaru's followers after his fall from grace, and even where it had been hidden during Oto's reclamation period. It seemed now that he was right behind the author, though a good 50 years might have separated them, he was close at hand to his quarry now...it was almost in sight...

Xenon was now in overdrive, his mind, considerable to his age, seeming to be tearing through the various volumes like a hurricane. Anything that was not to do with his hunt was set aside and returned back to it's proper place almost at once, and his fingers seemed to have sped up as well as though they were in a mad dash to keep up. The remaining clues to this mystery were close at hand, he could almost sense it. A probably solution to what he was seeking might very well be almost within his grasp. He didn't expect it to be easy, even after he found the information was seeking, but he had to admit some small hope, some small shred of destiny seemed to be with him this day. He was almost certain now, that he would find what he was looking for...

The next record at last, this one had been under another scroll, but now...

Xenon's eyes widened. That was it, that had to be it. The Author had finally tipped his hand. He hadn't necessarily, named it just yet, but it wasn't that hard now to draw a conclusion. How could he not have seen it before. Looking back at the others, there had been several sentences that now had new meaning to him. He'd not taken into account one of the Snake Sennin's greatest weapons, he'd foolishly brushed it aside with one of the others. Snake Qualities, yes, snake Qualities indeed, but that was not all that Orochimaru had achieved. The Snake Contract. That was it, the Snake Summoning contract thought to be lost so long ago. The man had been seeking it relentlessly because if the example of Orochimaru was any indication, the Snakes were a weapon not to be taken lightly, it was said that Orochimaru's summon could off two of the others when he fought his fellow Sennin. If this was true, then someone with full mastery of the contract could potentially defeat a Kage.

"You look happy boss, you find something?"

Xenon was perusing though yet another record, his smile plain now. "Find something... I might have indeed. If I could acquire this...it would more then serve to close the gap in my fighting style..." he smiled "Hold on a moment...these next records might be crucial." Mokutan nodded, giving a short smirk at how excited his master had suddenly grown. Whatever this thing was, it must have really been something.

Xenon turned the page. It seemed that the authors search was going well, a little too well Xenon feared. His only comfort was that the contract was still thought lost. Perhaps he could find some sort of hint in these records, some clue as to it's location. Though again he supposed the author might have found it and merely had ti destroyed, that explaining why it was still lost...he hoped he was wrong.

The entirety of Xen's attention was on the books now. Kimiko and Raine could have attacked him head on and he might have noticed until long after he started bleeding and or smelling of charred flesh. The call of the Snake Contract was growing more alluring the closer he seemed to get it, and now that he knew for certain what it was he was seeking, it motivated him all the more. In this instance Xenon was completely dead to the world for his reading, his usual talent for multitasking gone as he focused with all his might.

Close, so close, this seemed to be some kind of mantra that the young shinobi was repeating to himself. his the tiltes and sentences began to blur together in his memory, he felt as though the records he sought might very well just have shown out bright red to him, for they were all he would see and remember clearly in this state. His mind was now a whirl as this task reached in crescendo, and his answer was now so close at hand. With Mokutan now reading over his shoulder, discerning what it was indeed that his master might have found, the pair seemed to be caught up in this ages old tale together, seeking out the final chapters with a serious intensity.

The records were very clear now, yes, the author was very close. He'd found a lead, a good one, and it was taking him back across the nations to the very place that he had left. It seemed that in the end the very last place he'd thought to look, Oto itself, had been the resting place of the scroll all along, but what was it still there? The Author intended to find out. Much of this record was confirmation that it was indeed the Snake Contract ,and his many theories on what should be done with the dangerous relic. Little was known about the snakes as currently. No human had made known contact with them in quite some time, though it seemed that Spirits often peered into the human world, that would only mean that human would be a disadvantage.

Xenon looked now upon the last record, his eyes glancing down at it with slight trepidation. What would he find within? Hope? Victory? Or wasted effort... it was no garuntee for any of them, yet the ptoential for all. Xen carefully opened the cover, and begin to read. Much of it was the final account of the author's return to Oto, and his various searches of the extensive tunnel systems that ran under the city. The man had at last decided, much to Xenon's annoyance, to destroy the scroll, deciding it was better off to leave the world without it's temptation, destroying one of the last remnants of the villages shadow. He turned the page...

Xenon's eyes skimmed the last page with stern eyes, but they softened as they read on, and at last they sharpened once more. He sat there a moment, Mokutan merely reading alongside him until both were finished, and silence reigned.

For a moment niether seemed likely to speak before Mokutan raised the question. "Well boss...what...do you think?"

Xenon picked his glasses up from off the table, replacing them before whisking his jacket off the back of chair. "Do you even have to ask?" Xenon inquired with the smallest hint of sarcasm. he tore out the last page, sticking it inside the pocket of his coat, before shutting the book tight, and putting back on the shelf where he had found it. After that Xenon left the darkened lower floors, heading back towards the libraries entrance, heading toward the sunlight.

The final page contained several sketches of a hidden door, and a particularly misshapen bush, as well as a map of the fields just at the base of Mount Oto. Written there was simply.

"All my fears these long years have been for naught. The Contract is safe where no one will ever find it. No soul could possibly make it through the labyrinth that lies under the mountain. So many have tried to enter it only to lose their minds, the scroll has a defense better then any I might have designed for it. I am content to put this matter to rest. No one will ever again use the Snake Summon Contract."

Tsuneo found himself inside the library yet again his goal for the day was to try and find something to help him figure out how to improve his knowledge of survival after some talking at the front desk he manged to get his hands on a book titled.

Baka's Guide to Poisons plants
A guide to know what dangerous plants should not be eaten in the wilds of the Rice country.

He quickly opens the book and started to see what he could mange to figure out from this new book he manged to get his hands on. As the book is opened and he goes through the pages his mind soon is lost in a sea of symbols he has no idea what they are talking about. As he desperately looks to the pictures his head hurts as he scans the pictures of mushrooms only to find they all look to be the same to him not a difference in the world from one mushroom to the other. All he manages to succeed in the first minutes of looking at the books is he started to develop a pain in his eyes from staring at the pictures to long since he was making no progress with the words. The words seem like complete gibberish to him. The reason being Tsuneo had failed to notice yet he was reading the book upside down.

Tsuneo found himself still trying to decipher the book that made no sense to him how was this supposed to help with Survival it made no since was it written in a foreign language he simply kept trying to figure out what his problem was with the book before him. He realized after a few minutes like an idiot he had been reading the boo upside down and after becoming somewhat embarrassed at the mistake went back to trying to make sense of the book. He still had no idea what the Survival Guide was talking about at least though he was able to finally read the word on the page.

Tsuneo was now having the ability to read the words but just being able to read something still doesn't mean you understand what it was talking about. He was trying his hardest to focus on what it was saying in hopes he could make some headway in this book. after a few minutes of reading it properly he finally was able to figure out the purple spots on one of the mushroom in the pictures and how that was a a sign that is was poisons. He had manged to finally make some sense of this crazy book. Apparently reading it the right side up really helps a lot to understanding it.
