Earendil chuckled and poked Lin's nose. "What you mean, 'only a language more'?" he asked, amused. "How many are you learning? Not that it's a bad thing, I think it would be a good idea ... but still. No one is ever as nonchalant about it as you are!" He laughed again.




Atalya smiled at Elnara warmly. "He had a bit of sunstroke, it's nothing major," she told her softly. "He'll be all right once he has enough rest. He should be fine again by morning."

Ruel scowled down at Celebor. "You didn't say she was your mother," he told him shortly. "She doesn't belong here." He folded his arms across his chest stubbornly.

Luthien frowned and put one hand on her husband's leg. "Stop it," she ordered him under her breath. "We all know how you feel, but if you make a scene, I will not forgive you."

"Well.... I have to learn two more," Lin replied back sticking her tongue out at him playfully, "Because there is another language for Daddy's side and another one for Mommy's side...."

Though her mother didn't use the language as an everyday thing. She looked up ahead and her eyes lit up.

"Lookie we're here... or there as Nina would say."

Atalya smiled at Lore. "Well, we would have brought him to you," she replied, "but we had no idea where you might be. Apparently you made the rounds, though, and saw almost everyone?"


Eärendil chuckled at Lin as they entered the Dining Hall. "Here, there and everywhere," he agreed. "To be fair, we're always here."

He took his seat , grinning brightly at everyone else who was there. "Wow," he murmured to Lin, "lots of visitors today ..."

Lore smiled a bit as he set Slivrendir down beside Idhril so he could be the her and the twins. He looked around a bit to see Serenity before sitting himself down as well.

Eärendil sat down next to his brother and set Lin at the tiny place setting next to him. "I can't remember the last time we had this many people around the table," he murmured softly, "or if we ever have, for that matter."

Probably not.



A door at the far end of the Hall opened at that moment and a line of servants came in and brought the food to the table, then served everyone, putting some of everything on their plates. For the Surprises, they gave them only the tiniest little bit.


Ruel raised one eyebrow at Celebor. "I'm not grumpy," he replied to his nephew. "I just think she shouldn't have come back. She was happy where she was, and we were happy here without her. The facts are plain and simple. There was no need to interrupt our peace."

Uh oh... was the first thoughts that came into Lore's mind. Even among the chattering he could pick out the parts of conversations. The one that Celebor was having with that one elf was going to be problematic. He knew how passionate Celebor could get...

He leaned over to Elnara, "Should we have Celebor sit with us?"

Eärendil shook his head at Lin. "No, our family wasn't this big. Almost, but not quite. Of course, whenever Haradhel and Uncle Elrohir finally get married, it might get bigger, but who knows when that's going to be?"



Ruel was taken aback by Celebor's words, and he suddenly grew angry - especially at Celebor's last comment. "Look," he snapped, trying to keep his voice down a bit, "I'm not the one here who's a freak."

"Ada!" It was Tinúviel's voice, harsher than anyone present had ever heard it. "That's enough!"

Conversations fell silent and everyone turned to look at Ruel.

One could almost hear the proverbial crickets chrip in the background. Lin didn't know what Ada meant, but she could tell it was directed at Earendil's daddy.

She looked up at Earendil and whispered, "Is he in trouble?"
