Unless that attack is a large area attack or amazingly fast moving it might not actually hit, the chosen defense in Getbackers is typically not to be in the way in the first place. And given your mention of defensive jutsu I'd warrant that it assumes the commonly used (and amazingly un-ninjalike) naruto blocks.
Hrrm, well it is manga so it's kind of hard to judge speed but from my guess it's fairly fast since the manueaver requires the two to be in a spinning vertical tornado sort of thing. In addition, after their hit, the distance required to stop their momentum (when they're shredding the stone ground up to slow down) is roughly 30 meters or so (really rough guess, from what you see, from behind their opponent standing up, they appear to be the same size). As for size of the attack, it moves, since they are seen to be following their rather fast opponent around the battlefield before they actually hit (on the first usage, and not on the fastest). The attack is portrayed as a spiralling cyclone (in most basic form it's a tackle) and they're roughly twice as tall as their opponent (who I guess to be around 6 feet tall, or taller), so they're roughly a story tall in that form.
The defensive jutsu was, as you thought, very un-ninja like. How the hell do you hide a 10 story tall 1 story thick metal gate is beyond me. But anyways, said gate is made of the standard spiritual/mystical/ninja metals, but they managed to put what I guess to be a five foot dent into it. They of course smacked themselves silly when they did that, but it is quoted as "Orochimaru's ultimate defense" so eh.

Shido is theoretically capable of about a 1000 different transformations since the first part of the title of his moves is "1000 beast transformation:
" in the manga its called Beast Mimicry.
Shido's wild card is the insane flexibility offered by his beast forms. So far in the American release of the manga and the entire anime series we've seen Primate Form (beserk strength + claws and fangs), Bat Form (sonar and ability to easily dodge a whip moving at the speed of sound), Wolf Form (speed + claws and fangs), an apparent ability (which may have been an optical illusion) to turn into a cloud of bats like some vampire myths, one that I think was called the Diving Eagle Strike which is invoked mid leap that drives him into a powerful downward strike capable of shattering stone, and a few other transformations I can't remember at the moment. Another possible advantage is his ability and willingness to summon entire swarms of vermin to engulf his foe.Alright, I dunno exactly how inhuman the average GetBackers character is outside of Ban and Ginji, but judging from their strength and endurance, it really doesn't match up to Naruto levels. Remember, Naruto characters are capable of almost literally flying across water. They crater into solid rock on a regular basis, and Kiba's normal attack is powerful enough to crater said solid rock and not even phase him. Really, it would take quite a bit of physical force to hurt them.
Now, I know Kiba doesn't move as fast as the speed of sound, in fact, he's probably a mid to low level on the Naruto speed scale (of the Genin anyways, though all of the major Genin are supposedly of Chunin or even Junin level (
they manage to take down or severely wound Orochimaru's best four Junin) but that speed scale is quite a bit higher then the GetBacker's speed scale. I mean, Rock's Lotus and Sasuke's Chidori are both feats of unmatchable speed according to what I know of the GetBackers universe. Kiba's ultimate attack is nowhere Lotus level but it's definately as fast, if not more so then the Chidori.
Also, I'm not sure if you've seen this far, but one of Kiba's team mates in his Genin squad controls bug swarms so I'm fairly certain that he has some competence at fending off swarms. Added to the fact that no normal animal would be able to stand up most of Kiba's attacks and it really doesn't mean a lot.
Quote:
I think that despite the godmodding of the Naruto universe that Shido might persevere... He's one of the few individuals I see as being capable of taking down Mido Ban in an open fight, even with Mido's Jagan being considered. His advantage here is a flexibility in tactics that many of the one-trick-horses among the Naruto ninjas lack totally. Hell, its even possible that Shido's powers could make Kiba's dog unwilling to participate... after all, part of his power is to befriend all beasts and Kiba cannot call upon his beast jutsu without the pup's cooperation.
That's the thing I'm unsure of. Kiba's pup is intelligent and to the point where it's viewed as family to Kiba, and Kiba is viewed as family to it. I'm not sure how powerful Shido's animal compulsion is but it would take a lot to make that pup not want to help Kiba out in a fight.
Also, while the Naruto characters tend to be one-tricks (actually, they're up to two/three now) those tricks are very powerful tricks. They may be predictable and only have a single attack, but it's almost guarenteed that the single attack is a very powerful one.
You may know the destructive potential of a nuke, and where it's going to land, but there's very little you can do to dodge it on short notice, and nothing you can do to survive it. Kiba's not a nuke, but he is damn powerful, and I'm not sure exactly how far the physical level of the GetBackers characters defy reality since GetBackers is a psuedo-realistic series as opposed to the pure fantasy that is Naruto.
