"Chase... That does not hurt?" Ari asked as he put another mouthful of food in his mouth. He made a face of pain at what the other was doing. It would have been easier to use a fork, but he was sure the other had never even touched one before. Ari had up his and pointed to it. "Use... fork. Fork is easy... To use," he said. He took the fork he held and twisted it around in the noodles and held it up again. There was a ball of noodles on his fork, and so he ate it. A rumbling purr came from his chest. He enjoyed the food, and got done eating it quickly. His stomach let out a content growl as he brought his knees to his chest while sitting in the chair. He watched the other eat, wincing at how that would hurt himself, but he was not sure how Chase could do what he was doing.

"Nwah, but it feels slimy." He made a face then pulled his hand out, a noodle stuck to it, and licked his digits clean. The noodle tasted good, but this shiny metal thing Ari was talking about seemed really silly. It wasn't a sppon but a fork, and it was the silliest thing to use that Chase had ever seen. He shook his head but scooped up some of the noodles in his fingers, twisting uncomfortably on the chair before stuffing them into his mouth. They weren't that hot anymore, but they were rather warm.
He winced slightly as they went down.
The neko opposite him was appearantly trying to be civilized. that or he just knew what to do with those weird objects. Chase still thought the bowls could be passed off as pretty good hats. He gave the neko's fingers a hard stare when they maneuvoured the fork so that they picked up the noodles.
He wanted to do that too! That was no fair! Plus it was a human thing. Humans were still pretty bad in his books. A notch down from evil, just because he was fed properly this time. He growled angrily but didn't do much more, bringing the bowl to his lips and trying to scrape the pasta into his mouth.

Ari made a face when he watched the other. He was in no way beign civilized, the neko. He just liked using the fork, and he enjoyed the reaction from the other. Giggling softly, Ari put more of the noodles into his mouth as he watched Chase eat his food. The neko was tempted to just lean over and eat up the other noodles from the other's hands when they were loose and in easy reach, but he feared what Chase would do. Like he wanted to get hit or growled at, so he kept to himself. Ari picked up a noodle in between his index and middle finger and held it there a second before putting it in his mouth and slurping it up. He loved the sound of slurping, but only for noodles. Any other kind of slurping was disgusting. He purred contently as he glanced at Chase with a kind smile. "Food good," he mumbled and finished off what was in his bowl.

Chase was practically licking the bowl clean. That was what he was used to, those underground slave traders were so cheap. He looked hopefully at his bowl as his stomach started to feel a bit gurgly. To much food. . . Urgh. . . The boy smacked his lips none the less, then closed his eyes, his eyebrows knotting together. What he didn't know is that his stomach would start to hurt in a few minutes. What he figured, was that if he stayed a while longer, he might get another hot meal.
But that was all different from what was going through his head. What was going through his head was so jumbled up he couldn't do much else than sigh.
"Can't go back. . . " He murmured.
Back to the plains. But there's not one there. . . All dead. Bloody and eatten - Back to the plains anyhow! . . . No, I'll be better off half dead here. But there's a human here! He gave me food. . . but he also seemed to want to keep Ari and me in the room.
"Kept like a pet. . . " was his next audible thought.
Chase's vocal cords stretched slightly, producing a weird cross between a growl and a whimper. He knew there was no sense going bak to the plains. His family was gone, the other families wouldn't accept a male as old as he was and his senses had been dulled too much by captivity and darkness. Not that he minded the darkness too much.
His green eyes turned upwards to Ari and he stared at him for a long while before lowering his eyes to his knees and wraping his arms around them.
"Yeah, good food," He replied listlessly.

Ari frowned when he heard what Chase said. Good thing for them that it was heard by only the neko; it was too quiet for the human to hear anything. The neko reached out his hand and placed it on Chase's face. "Not pet... Go back," he said and nodded. He brought his hand back quickly just in case the other wanted to smack it away or something. He sat there and sighed, finding a way to cross his legs in the chair. Ari did not like his feet touching the ground while eating... At all. Unless his food was on the ground. He liked his legs near him, he liked making sure no creature would come by and bite him, infect him with some sort of disease. The neko sighed. Would he even be able to live out in the plains Chase held so close to his heart? He wanted to, but he knew nothing of living out in the open, out of a cage, out of human contact. He might as well have called himself a human except for his ears, tail and vocal chords not quite making the correct sounds for the human speech. Everytime he spoke, it was scratchy and almost like he was just growling. But, Chase had spent time with cheetahs, right? Was he able to understand the neko so well? He scratched his ears before holding his tail and hugging it close. "Freedom..." he mumbled.

Chase flinched when Ari touched his face, a growl erupting from his parted lips but he didn't react much more. The other had sharp enough nails; his own had broken so he couldn't use them. The boy looked at the neko, nodding then pushed himself out the chair and heading for the window they had tried to break.
"Right. . . "
He prodded at it for a few seconds then pulled his hand back, his fingers snapping into a fist, and let it fly firmly at the window. He yelped and jumped back, but glared at it and brought back his other fist to do the same. A crack had appeared, but after this he would be practically dragging himself away from the house. No energy until his system digested the food.
A loud crack was heard a second time, Chase not knowing about front doors, and he cradled both bruises and slightly bloody fists to his chest. He glared at teh window, the glass pretty much webbed with cracks and shattered shards, and then looked across at Ari with a crooked slight frown. That hurt. . .

((Sorry it's short...))

Ari tilted his head to the side when he saw that Chase was attacking the window in such a way. He really had no human interaction, did he? The neko sighed, noticing Nikon's face. He had a dumbfounded, and slightly defeated, look plastered all over his face. Chuckling softly, Ari made his way over to Chase and put a hand on his shoudler. He shook his head and pointed to the door. "Nikon let us go... Front door easier than break window," he said and scratched the back of his head, reaching for his ears.

(( that's ok ))

Chase looked at Ari with a 'oh, say what?' expression, his eyes melting quickly into horizontal lines on his face. He looked back at the window, wondering where all of his progress would go now, then shrugged.
"What's that? Something tuh escape from?" He asked, confused. What in the world was a 'front door'?
He wandered in the direction Ari was pointing, reaching the door to the short hall then looking at the wall opposite the doorway. He stared at it. After a few long seconds he looked back at Ari, trying to stuff his fingers into his mouth to suck off the blood.
"Fat's fe fron' doh?" (That's the front door?) He raised an eyebrow looking very unimpressed even with his hand in his mouth. "Dun 'ook ike a doh." (Doesn't look like a door.)

Ari chuckled and nodded. The other's speech was a bit impaired thanks to sucking on his fingers. Did blood taste good...? Ari had never eaten anything with blood before, but he did like the taste of his own. But, did other blood taste like his? Oh well. He walked to the door and grabbed the handle, looking at Chase. Turning the knob, he opened it up and pointed outside. "Freedom," he said with a smile. Nikon, who was at his computer working, glanced over at the two and sighed. The neko's eyes went to the ground and he looked back at the human. They were no longer the man's 'servants' or whatever he had planned for them. But, would Ari just be caught again and sent back to the cages? Sent back to a place where he would just end up being sold again to another owner...
"Go on, guys. I'm sure you'll have fun out there," he said and yawned.

Chase swallowed his saliva, withdrawing his hand from his mouth and pressing his tongue to the roof of his mouth with a distaste. His blood wasn't exactly the best tasting thing in the world. He watched Ari go over to the door with a curious expression then grinned and was outside before anyone could begin to try to force him away from the door.
"Yeah. . . "
The boy was half blinded by the immediate light, but once he blinked a few times he was perfectly fine and tottering around with a vengence set on getting away from his captivity. He didn't hear anything Nikon had said, not that he waited for it.
Fresh air! The sun! Grass! It was absolutely amazing! Chase sunk to his knees in the grass without even getting five feet away from the building first, then leaned over and pressed his face into the soil. With the soft blades of grass against his face and the homely smell of dirt and grass in his nostrils, Chase was more than delighted just to lay there. Ari could try to move him, but he most likely wouldn't be budged.

Ari bowed to the human and ran out after Chase, nearly tripping over himself as he reached the sidewalk. He looked around in surprise. When was the last time he had walked around? When was the last time he had a good whiff of natural, fresh air? He took in a deep breath and sighed happily. The neko looked at the other and grinned. Laying on the ground in the grass beside Chase, Ari looked up at the sky and smiled. It was blue. It was so much prettier than looking through a window. The air was nice, the sky was bright, the sun felt good on his skin. He reached his hands high above his head, stretching out his body. For some reason, stretching outside was a whole lot better than in a room. Why was that? He would only wonder. Ari sat up and scratched his head, feeling extremely relieved for the first time in his life. Something inside him told him that it would be his last time being enslaved. Hopefully that was true. He looked at the other and grinned. "Free feels...Good," he said and shut his eyes, turning his face towards the sky. The sun was softer and not quite as warm when he sat in the sill of the windows. Now that he was in the real sun, it was warm, keeping his once cold body feeling toasted. Everything just felt so good.

"Umm. . . " Chase agreed, hearing the other lying down beside him. He didn't feel like attacking anything. He didn't feel like growling or snarling. He felt like purring, which was something his vocal chords would not let him do properly, but he made a scatchy imitation of it like he used to.
The boy was good at keeping his traditions and rituals with him, but he didn't know they they had started to disintergrate from his exsistance. He wouldn't be able to be how he was before. . . But what he didn't know couldn't hurt him and he rolled over onto his side while he yawned.
"It's. . . " He searched for a word aimlessly. "Happy."
Sleep was the priorety now. He closed his eyes and basked joyously in the warmth that was the sun. A stray thought in his mind told him quietly that the human master would find them, but that thought quickly faded and he fell into a doze.
"Hmmnn."

Ari's eyes widened when he looked over and saw the other asleep. What was he thinking!? The people who ran the slave market could come and swipe them up and steal them back into the cages! The neko bolted up and poked at Chase's arm. He wanted sleep too, but it was unsafe while they were still so close to humans. Looking around like a guard, Ari grumbled. He saw Nikon standing in the doorway of his house, waving at them like they were his children. That only made Ari shake his head and roll his eyes. He looked back at the sleeping person and poked at his arm again. "Unsafe, Chase! No good to...Sleep here..." he warned and stood up, hunched over slightly. There were people walking around, and they would probably recognize the neko. He was adopted plenty of times to where people spoke about him and warned not to get him at all. The neko sat on the ground and hugged his knees to himself, trying his best to hide his face. Wake up, Chase...Must get to freedom... "Still not free," he mumbled.
PostPosted: Thu Jan 17, 2008 1:18 pm

Chase groaned, his eyes fluttering open again, but closing when he swatted loosely at Ari. He didn't sit up though. Why would he sit up? He was finally comfortable without any effort. . . Then Ari poked his arm and mumbled that they weren't free yet. That got Chase to sit up!
He glared up at Ari, trying not to look directly into the blinding sun. It was hard not to, but then he sighed and nodded with a small frown.
"Sleep somewhere else?"
He pushed himself groggily to his feet then swayed and almost collapsed from a dizzy spell. He closed his eyes at once, groaning, then took a deep breath. Then he opened his eyes and the first thing he saw were all the people passing by and staring. He stood straighter at once, hissing slightly and he could feel the hair on his neck raising.
Honestly, Chase didn't know how strange and tempting he looked. ( o.o yay! ) He glanced back at the house then looked at Ari sulkily.
"Fine. Let's go. . ."

((Yay what? *ish confused*))

Ari looked at Chase and sighed, getting to his feet. He noticed the people eyeing them both, muttering things to one another. Possibly things on how bad of an owner they must have had to have them out and about. Well, they were not owned by anyone anymore. Turning to look at the human again, the neko took his wrist. "...Catchers...Catchers come and take slaves back to cages," he said. That was maybe the best sentence he had ever constructed! But, there was no time for him to be celebrating about that. He began walking in a direction he knew would lead them away from the city. Many years he had taken time to learn whatever paths there were to escape. Good thing he had too. Never once had he dreamt that he would really, finally escape. But, it had happened, and he had prepared himself. Well, for the most part. He was still pretty bad off thanks to being weak. Ari looked back at Chase, making sure to walk slow enough for the human to keep up. Even with a little energy, Ari was pretty sure he could get further than a weakened human. "Escape good? Go this way," he said, pointing ahead of himself.
