Streamjumper Shoujo Phoenix I got my camera back today! surprised
I think you might like some of these then. I took a huge pile of em in the fall but haven't really sorted or edited most of em down yet, so they're mostly random. Also, these aren't anything I really went looking for, just stuff I saw on my way to and from assignments and around my daily travels. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/streamjumper/personal/Foliage01.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v30/streamjumper/personal/camera065.jpg The most extraordinary moment I have ever witnessed probably, nature-wise is when I went to Rhode Island this past New Years. It's sort of hard to explain, but I'll try to to the best of my abilities. The lake picture just really brought back the memories. whee
My two cousins, my sister and I had taken a bike path down to their nearby lake which is surrounded by trees, trees, and more trees. When we got there, about half of the lake was frozen and covered in shadow. The other half was completely immersed in the sunset making all the trees look red and firey. The water was also melted on that half.
I remember standing at the midpoint where the ice met the water...
...and I cursed myself for not bringing my digi-cam. It was so gorgeous.

Streamjumper dot_com Streamjumper dot_com Streamjumper dot_com Tandoori! I just had some tandoori chicken yesterday night for dinner! 4laugh And my mother happens to be a whiz at it, and everyone LOVES it. It's crazy. As for puri, my little neighbor child came over and ate 13 of them. 13! It was insane, and very cute. whee
My friends who've eaten it like to refer to it as the "puffy bread". xd Another thing I noticed a lot of people like are all the panir dishes...I guess you could describe them as the "cheese cubes"? They're usually made with spinach or curry. Ever tried it? I've had panir once or twice. It wasn't half bad but didn't really grab me as being memorable. You should try fry bread sometime. Its a Native American traditional food with several different variations from nation to nation. Trust me, it rocks hardcore. Its kinda like a doughy doughnut... Hard to explain but impossible to forget. I've been trying to broaden my range of foods and try all types of weird food. whee I tried my first bit of fried calamari for the first time at a Thai restaurant. It was pretty okay, a bit bland, and tasted like super rubbery noodles. xp
All I can say is Greek and Italian food have got to be my favorites. Generic, I know, but hell...it is sooo good. Especially those Greek cafes in New York City. whee Mm mmm good.Greek and Italian (especially when you move away from pasts) are excellent, but I really like provincial French cooking and New England regional cuisine a lot. French food is EXCELLENT! 4laugh I love crepes!! I don't think I've tried New England cuisine. 3nodding You've probably eaten quite a bit of New England cuisine... Much of it is considered classic american food. Apple pie, pot roasts, baked beans, boiled lobster, clam and corn chowder... Oh dear...lobster. The horrors. sweatdrop The last time I had lobster, I was about 8 years old, and it felt like my stomach was being eaten by something for the following 4.5 hours. sweatdrop
I don't think I've ever had pot roast. sad I feel so foreign.

The mix of colors in those trees is gorgeous. Sadly enough, a lot of New Englanders have lost their sense of wonder at the foliage we've been gifted with. I sometimes do too, but when I realize it I try to put myself in the frame of mind of someone who hasn't seen it before. Then I can resume admiring it for the awesomeness that it is. It, along with the shifts in temperature, are huge reasons why fall manages to beat winter out as my favorite season. Though the foods that come into season then don't hurt at all.
