According to Ace's profile, he joined Noire because he pities Sil. He stayed because he cares about everyone in Noire (except for Sin and maybe even Eli too).

I'm a little disappointed. 2 bundles and no dark Ringmaster. Just cheap, cruddy commons. I didn't even wind up with Chiaroscuro. Mostly O. Renge and Jill. Damn.
