The pharaoh had been called, the guards searched the palace, but Mariku hadn't been located. Seto and Bakura had both been taken to the infirmary, and Seto's arm had been set into a crude splint and his shoulder bandaged. Bakura was still unconscious, but he didn't seem to have suffered much more than bruises. He had actually, at the pharaoh's request, been given a sedative herb to keep him calm when the news of his wife's kidnapping would be broken to him. Seto was in an agitated state; he and Bakura were friends, in a sense. He felt utterly responsible for what happened with Rei. Seto was currently in Bakura's room, brooding.

Ayira came in sitting beside seto. Bakuras children had been brough to the nursey to be cared for.

"This is my fault." Seto muttered, struggling to sit comfortable enough to avoid shifting his broken wrist too much. "I should have been able to stop him. Bakura will know that. He's going to want to kill me." He looked over at Ayira. "That means the pharaoh won't have anything holding him back to get angry with me. That means I'll have to face both of their wraiths. I wouldn't care so much if I hadn't considered them both friends, in a way. This is why I never should have grown soft."

Ayira hugged seto gently She hugged him around his waist so he wouldent hurt his shoulder "It's not your fault seto"

"I feel like it is." Seto sighed heavily. "Has the pharaoh been around? He should be the one to tell Bakura..." Atem had gone to inform Nanu of the most recent happenings. He knocked softly on the door before opening it. The knock wasn't really needed; he could walk anywhere he wanted to. It was his palace. He hoped another servant hadn't told her some false gossip instead.

Nanu had just woken up a few minutes ago. She was sitting up in bed. The servents had her daughter at the nurcery."Oh hi hun" nanu said.
"I havent seen him" ayira said. She was speaking a bit better now that her tounge wasent numb.

"He'll come by sooner or later." Seto said, glancing at the door. His eyes fell back on Ayira, and he couldn't suppress a smile. "I know I shouldn't be so happy when the situation is so grim. But you are too beautiful to ignore." "Hello." Atem said, sitting down on the edge of the bed. He saw that the baby wasn't anywhere, but didn't ask about her. "Mariku 'stopped by'. Have you heard?" He asked, but continued on anyway. "Apparently he tried to attack Seto and Ayira first. He broke Seto's arm and stabbed him, but got chased off. He went to Bakura's room and kidnapped Rei." He decided to be blunt, but didn't want to go into details. "Bakura's still unconscious. He got beat up by Mariku. I'm not sure how to tell him about Rei. It's not like she's dead, but... there was a lot of blood..."

Atem looked at the queen, thinking this over. "Yes... I suppose telling the truth is the best way to go." He said, musingly. "I should probably have told you this a while ago. But with the circumstances involving Seto, I didn't have a chance. I'm taking another wife. Her name is Kabi. I'm sure you'll like her." He said simply, getting to his feet. "I should go see if Bakura's awake."

Atem smiled and nodded, glad to see that she was so accepting to the idea. "I can send her in to meet you if I pass her. Bye." He left the room without saying much more, proud of himself for handling the situation so well. He did pass Kabi on the way to Bakura's room, and instructed her to go introduce herself to Nanu. The servant seemed stunned, but Atem didn't linger to make sure she went. Bakura's eyes opened and he stared up at the ceiling hazily. All of his senses felt dulled, but there was a deep ache beneath the numbness. He blinked slowly, then struggled to sit up. His throat hurt the most, and he was having trouble breathing. He didn't know where he was, but he didn't like being here. A hand was put on his shoulder and he was pushed back down, and he heard a voice somewhere far off. He looked over to see the priest, and all of a sudden it came back. "Rei..." He said, his voice hardly more than a whisper. It was extremely hard to speak. "Where is she?" Seto had been about to respond to Ayira when he noticed that Bakura was awake. Or seemed to be. The thief seemed completely out of it, but still tried to get up. Hastily Seto leaned over and pushed Bakura back down. "Don't get up yet. You'll just fall down." He said, knowing that the medication would have made Bakura drowsy. The thief said something; Seto could see his lips move, but all he heard was Rei's name. Seto bit his bottom lip and glanced towards the door. Atem had expressed the want to break the news to Bakura, and said to wait.

Nanu smiled softly as he left and let out a sigh.
Ayira moved over "just relax" she said holding him down.

Bakura grew irritated. There were now two people pushing on him, and he didn't want that. Mariku had been there, he remembered that the idiot had dared touch his wife. He would kill him for that, if he wasn't already dead. He spoke again, trying to shout but it was very hoarse. "Where is my wife?!" Atem had just entered to hear this. He waved Seto and Ayira away from Bakura, and loomed over the thief. Bakura fixed him with a very unfocused glare. "Mariku has her. Apparently he came by. After attacking Ayira and Seto, he came after you two. You were knocked out, and he seemed to have done the same with Rei. He then left, before the guards could properly react. I already have plenty of men out to search, Bakura. We'll find them soon." Bakura didn't hear much past the first sentence. His eyes widened and, instead of growing into a temper, felt himself grow suddenly weak. Mariku had her? No, no, that wasn't good. When he had taken Femi, they hadn't been able to properly locate her. Mariku wouldn't hesitate in killing Rei. The color drained from Bakura's face and he was silent in disbelief, stunned beyond words.
