Lt. Brookman Straken is great, though personally I'd trim off the shotgun magazine.
Yeah, that was my one beef. At first glance at the model, I thought, "Wait, when did he get a Lasgun?"

Why give the model a bandolier of shells when he has a magazine fed weapon?

'Cause bandoliers full of clips don't have nearly the same badass effect?
I can't remember, does new Straken still have a Plasma pistol?

They should've removed the plasma pistol or the shotgun imho.

Eh, home made rules don't float in the club and I'd rather not, last time someone did that the s**t really hit the fan when everybody all of the sudden had a special rule for something. Nope, codex or gtfo is the way things are done these days.

That would be absurd overkill. Strength four would've been better, just give it Manstoppers like Arbiters and Scouts. Or just drop the shotgun in favour of the plasma pistol that everybody and their mum would use on that model. Well, it is more of a close combat model, so it's not that much of an issue.

That's what I mean, though; if it's already got a Plasma Pistol, why not make it a close-combatable shotgun with Plasma-esque strength?

Straken already has a power fist that strikes on initiative.

Lt. Brookman Straken already has a power fist that strikes on initiative. Again, not my point. Why not drop the plasma pistol and make the shotgun S6/7 to replace it? He can only fire one anyway, and the powerfist denies him that extra attack.

Again, you'd overpower the shotgun to the point of silly. Shotguns go to strength four at the best and this is the Imperial Guard we're talking about here, overkill and fancy wargear aren't things they have in spades.

Honestly, I think a guardsman that's S6 T4 is overpowered to the point of silly; why not the gun too?
