*Maggie rises as Luke speaks, meeting his gaze. She looks unclear at first, but her eyes quickly widen as she realizes that Cora has once again gotten mixed up about the nature of affection and attraction*
Oh, dear . . .
*she clears her throat awkwardly and turns to Cora, not all that much more comfortable with this sort of thing than Luke is, given Cora's tendency to rather bluntly pry into her own love life* Cora . . . ye must understand that there are *she pauses* different manners of caring about different people.

:::The feeling of being comprehnsively inadiquate was not something Cora was all that used to. It felt terrible. It almost felt like a punishment:::
:::She lowered her chin as Maggie spoke. Very quietly::: Yes...?

*Whoooooo.... He lets out a sigh.* Luke's reprieved. He takes a step back, settling into silence.*
*Thinks to himself: Thank God for that.*

*Maggie recognizes the expression and is quick to reassure her* There now, Cora . . . I dinna mean te chide ye o'er it. Ye're world is very different, I know there are many things here ye're still only starting te learn. 'Tis nothing te be ashamed of . . .
*she takes a few steps over to her, and at a few inches shorter she only has to tilt her head to meet Cora's gaze and offer her an encouraging smile* I'll admit I am not the best at explaining such things . . . but perhaps Luke and I may help ye understand better.

*As Luke's standing there, trying to keep his thoughts in logical order......learn, understand, teach....It hits him.*
Cora.... *He takes a step forward.* You know when you *ahem* *points to lips* kissed me... Who.... taught you to do that?

*Maggie exchanges a brief glance with Luke, at a bit of a loss with how to respond to Cora, not wanting to make the girl feel any worse about herself than she already does*
*her eyebrows raise slightly at Luke's question and she turns back to Cora for her response*

:::She doesn't even turn her head to answer him. She's still staring at the floor. She wondered why it was important to know, but she answered without shame:::
Tacitus...

*Luke's face falls.*
*His eyes narrow.... and then darken.*
Tacitus?.... *He nears Cora, wanting very much to hear more about this.* And.... when did he show you this?

*Maggie watches Luke's expression shift, and interjects quickly before he can respond*
Ehm, Cora . . . I believe the point Luke was trying te make is that . . . that manner of affection is something te be saved for one person, who ye care for very deeply. It doesna mean ye dinna care for other people as well . . . simply that ye care for them in a different way - as a friend . . . or as ye would for a brother or sister.

*Maggie's speech didn't distract him in the slightest.*
Tacitus showed you how to do this. *Luke's muscles tense and he nods, forming a plan of action...* *He immediately congered up an image of Tacitus taking advantage of Cora.* *Looks like Tacitus neglected to think about the consequences of his actions.*
Well, don't worry. Next time I see him, we'll have a little talk.

:::She looked back down, realizing that her world was yet more to blame for the confusion:::
:::She's not quite sure why Luke would have to speak to Tacitus about it::: Do you think Tacitus is confused about his feelings for me? He has told me that he loves me. ::::She could cry at this point::: But is that even valid if the recipient can't distinguish between types of love? Is he not allowed to love me anymore?

Cora . . . Of course his feelings are valid, as are your own. *Maggie speaks very gently* Even those of us who have lived our entire lives knowing of it may yet feel very confused when it comes te matters of love. 'Tis no simple thing.

*Tacitus....loves....Cora?*
*Well that did change things, but not by a lot.*
You, and you love him back? *Luke made sure.*
