Bakura smiled uneasily, but the feeling of dread wouldn't go away. He should have taken Rei's advice and not decided to stay. Should he leave now? No, not now. Not while the children were calmed down. "Good." He said, nodding his head and moving over to be next to her. "Amazing how they can look so innocent. The little demons." Seto might have continued gushing to Ayira about such romantic matters, but he didn't exactly get a chance. The door began to open and he tensed, looking up, expecting to see the pharaoh. Instead, to his utter horror, Mariku entered the room. The blond maniac looked the same as he had years ago; the face had been burned into Seto's mind ever since Ayira's death. For a moment, he was utterly paralyzed. Then Mariku spoke. "Funny. I keep trying to kill her, and it never works out my way. It must be your fault, priest. You shouldn't have brought her back in the first place." Mariku had hardly gotten these mocking words out when he found himself with an infuriated priest on his hands. Seto had pulled out the Millennium Rod and unsheathed the hidden dagger so quickly that all Mariku saw was a flash of gold. With alarm, he took a step backwards, which was lucky for him. Seto had lunged forward, swinging the blade, and had missed slitting Mariku's throat by only a few inches. "Feisty, are you?"

As the man appered ayira let out a small cry. She was trembling in fear. She was absolutuly terrified of mariku.
Rei smiled "yea..they can be little terrors at time...but they can be sweet too."

Mariku's pale violet eyes fell on Ayira for a moment, but he couldn't concentrate on her too much. Seto, propelled by pure rage, attacked again. The priest showed excellent skill with the knife, and Mariku knew he might be able to overpower Seto sooner or later, but the priest would be able to fatally wound him. He wasn't sure if continuing this fight with the priest would be the smart thing to do, at the risk of his own life. He decided to try a little longer, and if it didn't go well, he would leave. He pulled out his own knife when he managed to skip back a few steps, and saw Seto's blue eyes widen slightly then narrow sharply. Mariku had various knives on his person, being his favorite choice of weapon, and he didn't hesitate in throwing it at the priest. His aim was a little off, but it still managed to hit the priest. Not in the chest, where he had aimed, but on his shoulder. Seto let out a somewhat choked cry of surprise and pain as Mariku abruptly pulled out a knife and threw it expertly, but that didn't break down Seto's guard. He ripped the knife out quickly, flinging it to the ground, and pressed his palm to his new wound. Mariku snarled at him, but neither said anything for a moment. They stood utterly still, glaring at one another, and Seto tightened his grip around his Millennium Rod. He lunged for the blond, realizing that he was at the advantage. Mariku's back was to the wall, and he would have little place to go. Seto had forgotten about the door, however. The coward bolted, opening it and slipping outside the room quickly. Seto let out a shout of anger and reached to try to catch a hold of the man, but Mariku had been in the process of slamming the heavy door shut. Seto's wrist was caught, and he heard it snap. Mariku was already gone, and Seto fell to his knees, swearing under his breath and trying not to move his broken wrist too much.
"They'll grow out of it." Bakura assured his wife, kissing her on the top of her head. "Or, at least, be better at when they become scary."

As the door was shut ayira rushed over to seto. She ignored her own pain kneeling beside seto "Seto are you ok?"
Rei smiled softly "I'm sure they will. Would you mind holding them?" she asked.

"I think it's broken." Seto said, trembling in suppressed anger and pain. His shoulder was bleeding somewhat heavily as well, but he didn't care too much about that. It was both his left shoulder and left wrist that were hurt, rendering his left arm completely useless. The priest lifted his head to the shut door, glad that Mariku hadn't lingered. "I think he went to another part of the palace. Peek outside and make sure. If he isn't there, try to find a servant to warn the others." His voice held a note of command his memory-less self hadn't had. He growled slightly. "That coward... How dare he run away so quickly..." "Uh, sure." Bakura still marveled over how much bigger his children had gotten while he was gone. Dead, he reminded himself. Not just gone. He had been dead. He took a seat next to Rei on the bed, gently lifting the two from her. "Are you feeling better?"

"ok.." ayira said softly. She opened the door and peaked out to see if he was there.
"Im tired but yes I feel better" rei said and gave him a kiss on the cheak. The children cuddled close to him.

Mariku honestly hadn't even thought of the thief when he came to the palace. He didn't care much about that man. He had just been looking for a place with a window, just for him to slip out of without being noticed. He heard soft voices coming from one room not too far away and entered as silently as a cat, after glancing over his shoulder to make sure nobody there had seen him. Turning to see who was in the room, he was stunned for a moment to see the people he would last expect to see. The thief and his family, all neatly sitting together. What a lucky day this was. Bakura looked up with a glare when the door opened, expecting to see the pharaoh or priest or something of the sort. Instead, Mariku was in the doorway. Seeing him there seemed so out of place, so sudden, that Bakura wasn't sure if he was actually seeing what he though was there. Mariku looked equally as surprised for a moment, but Bakura knew it was real when the blond pulled out a knife and brandished it threateningly.

Rei had looked up to see who hd come in. When it was mariku she squeeked. She took her children from bakura and placed them behind her protetively.
Not seeing him Ayira went and warned a servent. She also told him to get a healer.

Mariku had gathered his wits more quickly than Bakura. The blond was already filled with adrenaline from his previous brief fight with Seto, and didn't take nearly as much time to react. The woman moved quickly, to protect her children, and Mariku knew that Bakura would be a bigger threat to him. He darted forward, clenching one hand into a fist. He punched Bakura squarely in the throat before throwing him to the ground as the thief struggled to catch his breath. He coughed and gasped, and Mariku knew that time was of the essence. He didn't bother even trying to give Bakura a fair fight. He kicked the already down man, his foot coming in contact with his stomach, and causing Bakura to fall again, now on his back. Mariku chose now to speak. "It isn't nearly as satsfying to kill a person again. Why couldn't you just stay dead?" He had completely ignored the wife as he thrust his heel sharply on Bakura's chest.

Feeling safe that the children were hidden rei bolted up and hit mariku in the neck "Get lost!" she said.

Mariku whirled to glare at the woman. He seized her by her wrist, squeezing tightly. "I've killed far stronger men than you for far less reasons. Don't get on my bad side, woman." His other hand, which held his knife, was about to come up underneath her ribs. His head turned when he heard a shout from guards outside. Damn! He didn't have time for this now. Growling, he pressed the flat side of his knife against her throat. "You'll just have to come with me."

Rei gritted her teath as he seised her wrist. She tried to pull away but wasent able to. "Gett off!" she growled her eyes narrowing.

Mariku released her wrist, only to seize her by her throat and slam her against the wall, intending to knock her out by hitting her skull against the wall as many times as it took.

It only took two times before rei's body went slack and unmoving. there was a blood spot on the wall and her hair was soaked in blood.

Mariku slung Rei over his shoulder and looked down at Bakura, who was struggling to get to his feet. Mariku's foot shot out, coming in sharp contact with his face. Bakura fell back to the ground, and Mariku hesitated only a moment to ensure that Bakura was unconscious. He knew he had to hurry, before all the exits were blocked by the guards. He slipped out of the window, carrying Rei with him.
