Gtack Ok, someone clear something up for me - What on earth is a troll/troller? This has confused me since I came back to Gaia and found references to them all over. A troll is someone who goes around the internet and constantly degrades others of their self confidence. If you want an example, look around. A big thing right now for the trolls is the Trolls vs. Beiber. or, for an easier example, look at the comments on almost any youtube video. It is a sad day, when trolls fight against trolls. Such as Rick rolls. Rick rolls were created by trolls, and now it seems that the trolls have forgotten, and they are attacking eachother on those now.

Well, Kinda. what you described were actually refered to as flamers. Trolls are focused purely on the defamement of others, and the tearing down of social norms to induce hatred for either single entities, or an entire group. Such as the Gay community, or many other groups of people. Such as based on race, or religion. Trolls are so much more indepth than just posting for a responce.

Okay, a troll is neither a flamer, nor someone who degrades people for gain. If someone is doing that and claiming to be a troll, they are what is more commonly referred to as a "Fail Troll". A real troll, you would never know was a troll in the first place. They say something with the intent to cause a reaction, in order to create "lulz". Basically, they get everyone else going, and create fun.
Sure, not all of the people we call trolls, or call themselves trolls, are like that, but that's what a troll is. It's a person who quietly waits for a catch, and then reels it in. Trolling is just a callback to the style of fishing by the same name. The people who actively seek to create trouble aren't trolls.
And you're a bit backwards Kumo. Yours was a lot closer to "Flamers" than Snuff's.

Hrm. Rick Rolls aren't really trolling to my mind though - I like the song...... /is strange/
So, in essence, trolls are the big brothers/evolved form/more malicious version of flamers? Bloody 'ell, they were nasty enough on their own, they did not need reinforcements!

And at the same time, I managed to piss off a good friend of mine and make him feel like a dirt bag... awww... Well, I didn't think you were 21 { That is the legal drinking age in america right? sweatdrop } But if you are, you really shouldn't solve your problems through Alcohol. you should just let it flow, and have a good friend or family member there to comfort you. Alcohol is the easy way out, but it can destroy your life. Well, tell him you are sorry, and that you had some drinks. Or if it was before the drinks, tell him you were having a rough ptch out of life, and that it was highly uncalled fr, and tht you shouldn't have acted that way. * Jumps off auggie s shoulders and Hugs Shi Shi-chan to hopefully make her feel better * T^T I'm sorry I can't giv you a hug in real life T^T This is the best I can do.
And I made him feel like an a** this morning, when I woke up. Only problem is, is that I'm too pissed at him to care enough to apologize. As far as I'm concerned, he sat there and judged me for drinking away my problem, when he going through a similar thing, and is also drinking away his problems. Basically I called him a hypocrite. =/
I wish I could get a real hug. I don't have any friends irl. That's why I'm on gaia. sweatdrop Ok, I wasn't too sure on the Drinking laws over there. But yeah, If it was a one time thing, then that is good, just don't make a habit of it. Sure it starts off as a one time thing, but you forget about it, have another one time thing, and it keeps going on and on until it becomes a regular event, whenever you cry, you need a drink. ^.^ So please try not to drink anymore unless you are with good friends, and you are celebrating an acheivement. ^.^ Pissed or not, youshould definatly apologise to him. If you don't you could seal off your relationship with him forever. if you leave the wound to seal up on it's own, then it could seal with you outside of it. But if you help to seal it with a bandaid { An apology } Then you could very well become closer to him, or be put right back to where you were before. ^.^ Also, just because he does it doesn't mean that he wants you to do so. He knows what it does to you, and in some way he was protecting you from it. He was trying to keep you from ending up where he is at right now, and trying to help you. But sadly, if you don't apologise and make ammends, he could slide slowly deeper into the path that he is on. I wish I could hug you, because then you'd know that you weren't alone, and that you wouldn't need to drink things away, even once. And that you wouldn't need to yell at your friends because they are always there for you, and that they only want the best for you. T^T @ G-money Gee, thanks... stare
And I'm probably the most responsible drinker ever. I made my brother swear that under no circumstance is he to give me my keys, or my phone; and gave them to him even before I started drinking (my brother stayed sober)
Yeah. I hate the fact that you're right. I'm still angry at him tho... but I'll apologize.

Flamers are actually the more malicious form of trolls. It's just that people get their terms mixed up and nobody is the wiser.
And yeah, that song is awesome. Kind of sucks that nobody actually knows the name anymore though.

But it could slip at any moment. ^.^ If you apologise, then your anger should subside with the knowledge that you two are friends again. ^.^ You do have friends, Quit saying that. Also, how could someone not know the name of that song? I'm pretty sure he says that atleast 10-20 times during the song. Hell, I can sing that entire song already, and I've only listened to it a couple of times. Anyways, That being said, I still hate it. not sure why though... Maybe just the tone of his voice.

If it remained simply at the level of creating an entertaining situation it wouldn't upset anyone, well, not as many at any rate. The problem is, lots of people who I like to refer to as "Immature little brats", think they can do it too, and create the cliched flame war scenarios. What happens when they join in, is that they don't know the limits that have been set, and start right out from the end of the spectrum the rest won't even go to. Honestly, in the end none of us are right, because everyone has a different idea as to what can be called a troll. I personally only find it enjoyable when it creates fun debates, and find it becomes more annoying when it degrades to name calling, at which point I immediately pull out. Some people though, feel that the only real form of trolling is when it causes people to get upset and run away. The most successful trolls go in, do their work, and walk away, without anybody even realizing anything ever happened.
