.::. The dead never leave... .::. The judging system I use dates back to roman times with a minor twist. Instead of one person having complete say, there are judges of course... but there will be no points. It are either yay or nay with explanation as to why if needed.
.::. They just go somewhere else .::.

The Darth Vizzle Well, the fact is, you still should have won. One judge should not outweigh two judges. That makes no sense whatsoever, no matter HOW big of a point difference there is, which I pointed out about Kenji's fight. It lacks a third judging, but it doesn't need it - 2/3 judges agree that Kenji won, even if the third disagrees, it won't matter. Or, it shouldn't. Points are just a means to explain WHY someone won, they shouldn't overrule a simple majority like that. Judge majority -> point system to show WHY the judges chose who they did, NOT to control the outcome -> comments, which further elaborate on why the fighters scored as they did in each judge's opinion. ^This one, KB. But no need to take judging seriously; half of us just lost. Herp-a-derp insert awesome smiley.

So...no way to get a written out opinion on our battles huh? I kinda miss the learning what the judges dislike thing...And is it possible to poison the happy meal in the poll?

I have to agree. Seeing it in practice I really hate this whole method of using numbers for scoring.
Without a guideline to base it on, people are going to give different scales of score totals. It doesn't seem right when two judges score the fight high and give one person a slight lead, and the third judge scores it lower with the OTHER guy having a 5 point lead. It throws the whole thing off.
I prefer to just give people advantages. This guy did better here, that guy did better there, and if I can't decide based on that, THEN you crunch the numbers. Or rather, as Darth told me, numbers should supplement the major ruling.
I mean, its like that American Idol stuff. Simon doesn't outweigh Paula and Randy because he...
...wait, no, that's individual judging, not 1v1 competitive. It works differently. ._.
@sewing: I made a scale while I was going nuts trying to judge last night. It was in too late, though, because I had figured everyone would just have their own handle on what means what number and work from that. Unfortunately I was incorrect. ._.

.::. They just go somewhere else .::. I hate to say it, but I think people will be butthurt regardless of the circumstances. That's the problem with RP tournaments. People take them too seriously in terms of who they are or who their character's are. And if people just didn't care what a judge thought, they wouldn't bother arguing with them at all.

The points should always be secondary to the majority when it comes to this sort of judging panel style of doing things.
If judges A and B score a fight 20 v 15, and then Judge C scores it 1 v 20, does it make any sense that the one incongruent judging should trump the majority simply because they decided to deliver a sizable point difference?
The scores are just numerical representations of "win" or "lose." So two "wins" should still trump one "lose" even if that one "lose" warps the scoring significantly. Because the scores just explain the win/lose, yay/nay. They - like comments - provide the reasoning for it, a break down of the decision.
