I took a nap earlier and my sisters woke me up going "Aleeeeex. It's 6:30." so I thought it was 6:30AM tomorrow morning nad panicked. sweatdrop

Streamjumper So far in the new Japanese season I've found two of the shows I'll be following for the next few months. I've already mentioned my enjoyment of Eyesheld 21, but the other is much more serious... Basilisk - A ninja action show laced with period romantic elements from Gonzo? How the ******** can this NOT win? I just watched the first episode and it rocks so goddamn hardcore. Its set sometime in the 1700s as the succession of the Tokugawa shogunate has been narrowed down to two heirs. To prevent war within the clans it has been decided that one heir will be represented by the Koga ninja and the other by the Iga. The clans are more than eager to each forward 10 of their number in the interests of finally putting a cap on their long-running feud. Unfortunately, this comes at a time when both clans were beginning to negotiate a truce and the heirs of each clan falling in love. The action and animation so far have been spot on, and the soundtrack has rocked hard in keeping with Gonzo's typical love of being badass. Time will tell as far as the plot, but so far the setup is goddamn sweet, with the romance foreshadowed by a 60 year old flashback to a similar romance. If you like your ninjas badass, your action happening, your fights gory, and your plot hardcore, check it out. I expect Kyle especially to like this. Are they closer to real ninjas than the Naruto ninjas?
