Edward Chitan, True Metal

Edward should have been paying attention. He had sat down without a second thought. In the end he ended up sitting in one of the worst possible places. He was sitting by the most irritating, blond-haired, orange-eyed, sissy of a young man he had ever had the displeasure of being in the same room with. He glanced to Rhythm with a scowl to meet the older boy's smile. His had heard the boy whispering to him in that disgustingly sweet voice of his. It made Edward want to gag. That voice didn't belong on a man. He didn't say anything for now, knowing he'd get in trouble with the teacher. A little bit later, a piece of paper was suddenly slid to Edward, drawing his attention. And of course it had to be from this guy. He read it, and it disgusted him, both in what it said and in it's calligraphy. But, as he glanced to Rhythm, he realized something. It now had a new punching bag, for the training session at least. And oh would he enjoy bruising up that pretty boy face. He quickly wrote down, Deal, before passing it back.

Rhythm was pleased, he had someone who wanted to spar with him. With a small smirk plastered on his face, he continued to watch the teacher. The Jounin was continuing to chat and lecture them, getting into the much harder things to understand. He began to teach them about mixing the elements, the different types of chakra, and the complications of making combos. The teen began to play with his hair, absent mindlessly ignoring the red head next to him trying to get his attention. She was trying everything, passing him notes, leaning on him, just simply trying to be the center of his attention. Fortunately for her, he was bored enough to doodle all over her messages and pass them back. She would laugh, and then coyly reply, then tried to be modest about it. Rhythm, on the other hand, just continued to doodle. He laughed when he got a rather odd response, then shook his head. Out of no where, a kunai came hurling at his desk, but Rhythm was good enough to know the teacher would throw a kunai at him when he got irritated. Pulling out his own kunai, he repelled the kunai, as it sailed across the room and connected with the wall. The blonde looked up at the teacher, and grinned.

"Sorry teach! Please, carry on, you have my undivided attention." Rhythm laughed and gave the teacher a thumbs up. The red head gave the peace sign, and leaned closer to Rhythm. The teacher sighed, then looked over the entire class.

"Before we were interrupted, I was say, we are all to go out to the Study hall to train and practice some." He said and rolled his eyes. The class got up, and the classmates happily picked their partners, and were about to get going. Rhythm, as promised, looked down to the much smaller, less experienced, younger classmate, and smiled at him.

"Well, partner, looks like you got to do some training early!" Rhythm exclaimed with a happy tone. He then was about to show Edward to the Study Hall, but then the red head clung to his side again, nuzzling into his neck and the side of his face.

"But, Rhythm! I wanted to be your partner!" She cried out. Rhythm just sighed and shrugged.

"I'm sure my current partner doesn't mind, Aki. Oh, it must have slipped my mind. What's your name, Newbie?" The blond asked with a happy-go-lucky voice. The red hair gave a sweet smile, her form looking very womanly. Her eyes softly laid on Edward's, giving a smile. She looped her arms around Rhythm's, and stuck to his side. He would seem very out of place, but that didn't matter at the moment.

"You wouldn't mind if I joined your little group, would you, Cutie?" She giggles and gently tapped his shoulder in respect. The girl then giggled, and towed Rhythm out the door and to the Study Hall.
-------------------------------
Soon, the three of them were in the Study Hall, all the pairs of teens were around, and they were all engaged in battle. But Aki and Rhythm was stand apart, almost in a triangle shape. Aki bowed to the blond, as he bowed back. Then they both bowed to the youngest one in their group. They were taught to be respectful, and that's just what they were doing. They soon backed up, and then got into a fighting stance, Rhythm had a grin on, while Aki looked serious and rather sexy with her red hair framing her face. They waited for someone to make the first move...

Things just seemed to get worse, in Edward's eyes. Rhythm was happy to see that his training offer was accepted. Meanwhile, there was a beautiful red-haired girl, who it seemed, could not leave Rhythm alone. It seemed obvious that she had a deep interest in him, yet he seemed almost oblivious, even withj all the notes he was sending back. Their notes drew the attention of the teacher, who tossed a kunai their way. Edward could only smirk as they got in trouble, until Rhythm laughed it off. From what the teacher said, it was time for the part he was waiting for. He got up as well and moved after Rhythm and AKi. They bloody girl clung to him like white on rice. He sighed as they came to an agreement for them all three to partner up. "I am Edward, now lets just get over there." He walked after them as Aki pulled Rhythm along. Once they reached the destination, the study hall, fights would begin among all the sparring students. He didn't bow, as they bowed to each other and him. He found it pointless. "Enough with the song and dance. Lets get to the fight." He took a calm fighting stance, before grabbing six senbon. He tossed three at Aki and Rhythm each, before rushing towards the golden-boy.

Rhythm was standing there, anticipating a move, and soon enough, Edward made the first move. He was ready for it, and so was Aki. He didn't mind at all, cause he could react much more quickly. It was one of the rules in the book, never make and first move, and the little kid just broke it. The blonde couldn't help but smirk a bit, his orange eyes narrowing in a glare as the needles came towards him. He ran towards Edward, pulled out a sharp and metallic kunai, and simply swatted the senbon needles off towards Aki. She too had a kunai in her hand, and she simply grabbed the needles out of thin air, and threw then right back at the two of them.

As Rhythm neared Edward, he grinned. He pushed his right hand outward, and slid on the ground, right underneath Edward. As soon as he was behind him, he dug a kunai into the ground to stop him abruptly, and stood up quickly. He wasted no time in getting his rhythm for fighting, as his head phones that always hung around his neck was lifted onto his ears, and music began to play in his ears, blocking out any distractions. Within seconds, he grabbed two kunais, and threw them at Edward. Not only did he have to worry about six senbon needles coming his way, but two kunais coming at him from behind. Rhythm had a third kunai out, ad threw that at Aki. The blond quickly pulled his kunai out of the ground, and got into a defensive stance.

The blonde noticed the senbon coming his way, with little time to react, he ducked down as far as he could, getting a small cut on his shoulder. He didn't mind, the pain was numbed by adrenaline. Aki smiled as the kunai was coming at her. She simply jumped and kicked the kunai back towards Edward. But Rhythm's attention was on the two kunais and five shuriken coming his way. The beat in his ears were fast, and the base of the song he was listening to was keeping him on track. His body began to move and shift with the music, as he almost seemed like he began to dance. He twisted, grabbed the two kunais that Aki threw, and threw them at the five shuriken, stopping two in their tracks. Three came at him still, but he didn't mind. Instead, he smirked and slid under them again, letting them fly across the room. He wasn't about to be defeated by an inexperienced twelve year old.

He straightened out, and dusted off his white coat. The bell Edward threw would have no effect on Rhythm at all, because he had his large head phones over his ears, and music flowing through his ears. But Aki was a different story. She grabbed her own weapon, a windmill shuriken, and threw it in a path that would loop around and take both Ed and Rhythm a surprise. If they weren't careful, it would hit them both.

Rhythm, on the other hand, also had his own weapons. He grabbed something from his pouch, then aimed for Edward. Something was strange about this kid, why was he aiming for mostly him? His caught the orange eyed boy's attention. Rhythm aimed for Edward's head, and then threw it. Four kunais were thrown out and around Edward, spread out enough that it would look like it was just a warning, rather than an attack. But there was something attached to the kunais, wires! Not only that, but the wires were lined with paper bombs! If the kunais reached the walls, the wires would pull Ed to the wall, and pink him there. Not long after that, the paper bombs would explode.

Edward brought his attention to the kunai redirected at him. He quickly caught it with his hand, receiving a light cut. Rhythm meanwhile was dancing to his bloody headphones and his unheard music, dealing with the projectile weapons. He kept his attention to the two as he shifted his other hand, and nearly invisible metal wire, attached to the silver ball that was thrown, was pulled, and he moved his hand swiftly, causing the metal ball to swing back around towards both Aki and Rhythm. At the same time he would duck on all fours to avoid the windmill shuriken, causing the ball to swing lower. This unintentionally caused the strings attached the kunai to the miss him as well. As the ball would reach Rythm's position, Edward would form the snake seal. The Shrapnel bomb would go off, the shockwave hopefully hitting him, and the shrapnel that sprayed out endangering him. Aki was at limited risk from being farther away, and Edward would be far enough to keep the shrapnel from reaching him.

Hmmm, this fight was getting more and more interesting. for a moment, Aki and Rhythm forgot about their youngest member of this fight, and focused on each other. As Rhythm was dodging the wind mill shuriken, and suddenly Aki was in front of him, and her knee quickly made contact with his stomach. Aki just smiled and then grabbed onto his shoulders when he bent over a bit, and then slammed him down into the ground. When he stood back up, Edward's little exploding ball came at him. The blond opened his mouth slightly, and gasped a little. His orange eyes were wide with amazement, but he quickly tried to dodge, but the smoke of the explosion quickly over came him, hiding him from view. But as soon as it happened, a log came falls out of the cloud of smoke, and soon the smoke cleared. Without a moment hesitation, Rhythm whispered into Edward's ear.

"You're going to have to try better than that, Small fry." He grinned, then placed his hands onto the ground, and kicked his foot outwards, aiming to the middle of the yongest's back, hoping to send him flying across the room.

So it seemed he had a moment of freedom, as the two paid attention to one another. Rhythm dodged the shuriken, only for Aki to move in, assualting him and bringing him to the ground. Edward would move to get up as his bomb reached, thinking it hit them both. Aki had moved back, the left shoulder of her shirt being cut along with the fabric and skin underneath by a piece of shrapnel. Edward was confused then as the log had formed. He turned his head as he heard the voice, only to a receive a kick to the back. He gasped, being knocked forward. He turned in the air and caught himself, landing on his hands and knees. Aki would grab a kunai, tossing it Rhythm's way, before turning to Edward, rushing towards him. He would quickly get back, before grabbing several kunai. He would throw all five. One was released at Aki's feet to keep her from getting close Three were airmed at Rhythm's chest, and one was below them, hidden in the shadow of one as it flew, aiming for his knee. He would rush after the kunai thrown at Rhythm, moving towards him. He tossed a flash-bomb up behind him. It would go off, acting to blind both Rhythm and Aki. Once the kunai would reach him, Edward would move in on the apparently blinded Rhythm to deliver a punch to his face. (2x)

~:: Fugen Himoji ::~

Fugen walked into the gates of the academy, a hand over the scar upon his chest. He was eager to learn from the teachers here on how to control and manipulate his chakra but at the same time worried about the other students within the academy itself. Over time, his chakra that disperses from his body unconsciously eats away at every living thing around him. He did not understand why, nor does the fellow members of his family. He walked down the pathways, looking at the large building in front of him, only to stop when a couple children ran in front of him, playing a game that looked similar to tag but with play kunai and shuriken. "Playing ninja? Well, it does make sense, they are in an academy where they are learning to become one so why not practice the part? ... Which reminds me, I do not even know the first part of being a ninja... Now, where is that library so I can understand their history and importance."

Fugen entered the building to hear near silence but the muffled chatter of the teachers talking to their students. Apparently, Fugen had walked into the academy grounds late for school... Good thing though, he was not exactly enrolled just yet, or at least officially. He wandered through the hallways, looking for a sign to tell him he was near the library but as he rounded the corner, he bumped into someone and fell to the ground, landing firmly on his backside. Cringing and trying to rub the pain away from his lower back, he looked up the the person he just ran into.

"Hey! Watch where you are walking will ya punk! We are trying to walk here," said the student. Getting a good look at the group, Fugen could see that they were kind of delinquents. Not really the sort to really bother with teachers and the such, a dangerous type. Fugen kept his cool though, not wanting to lose face in front of other shinobi if he could get away from that habit. "We are all trying to walk kid. You watch where you are going too." Bad move. Two of the group of five walked up and grabbed Fugen from the front of his shirt and lifted him clear off the ground. "Hey, you think you can talk to the boss that way and get away with it? You have a lot of balls," said one of the two lunks. "Put him down Duke, I like this guy's style. What is your name kid," said the leader of the bunch, getting up and wiping away the dust. "Fugen," he replied, being set down rather roughly as he straightened out his shirt. He was thankful that the mask was covering up most of his face, his lower lip was quivering a little,

"Well Fugen, the name is Hiro. How about you hang with us a while. You do not even look close to the goody goody lot here that listen to the teachers talk about the same thing everyday," said Hiro with a toothy grin. "Well, this guy certainly looks the mobish type. Best to do what he says unless I want a fight." Fugen merely nodded his head as the group started walking through the hallways. He could only watch as the group pushed by pretty much everyone that walks in their path, usually knocking them to the ground without so much as a second though but each time they did, Fugen would hang back a little and help the student back to their feet quietly and slip back to the back of the group without the rest of them noticing... Hopefully. But he was also conscious of the fact that his chakra was probably draining them right now, eating away at their stamina the longer they were with him... But he was growing to be fine with that. So long as that does not kill them, he could care less about all that. It would actually be a good karma lesson for these guys. They exited the school and rounded to the back where it was more hidden from view from both, outside the academy grounds and from prying eyes of the proctors.

Almost immediately, most of them pulled out some cigarettes and lit them up with a lighter that Hiro produced. He turned towards Fugen and offered him a light but Fugen lifted a hand, and shook his head. "I do not smoke. Thanks," said Fugen as he walked over towards a wall and leaned on it, thankful again to his mask that it hid his disappointment and guarded against the smell of smoke. "Fine, suit yourself. So you new around here? Good thing you found us first or else you would probably be like those other squares. So how much ninjutsu do you know kid? Can you make a clone of yourself?" Fugen was caught off guard. You can make clones of yourself? What the hell? Fugen turned his head towards the others with an arched eyebrow but with a practiced look of dullity in his eyes. "Clones? Who would want to waste their time with such things?" The others there laughed as a few of them disappeared in a cloud of smoke. The real ones were already sitting behind the crowd of people in front of Fugen, taking deep puffs of their cigarettes. "That is why you want to waste your time with clones. You can put up a distraction with no penalty to you and get away before anyone would even notice! So how about this, we treat you to how to learn this jutsu and you tell us a bit about yourself. Make us want to accept you into our 'friendly' little gang." Fugen immediately turned his head away from them with the look of sarcasm in his eyes. "Yeah, friendly as in 'I am going to kill you.'" Fugen took in a deep breath and turned towards them before saying, "Sure whatever. I got nothing better to do."

Hiro waved at one of his lackeys and he stepped forwards in front of Fugen lifting both of his hands. "First thing is first. You do know how to manipulate chakra right?" Fugen slowly nodded but said, "Every new ninja should know that one but you do not look like you understand that concept. Explain it to me." The kid suddenly grew angry and defensive. "Of course I know how to do that idiot! All you do is concentrate and push energy through your hands while making a few hand seals which manipulates the results of your expended chakra. Like molding it into the technique you want to do! Now watch, here are the damn hand seals you d**k," said the kid as he performed the sequence of hand seals and a cloud of smoke appeared next to him, producing a near perfect clone of himself. Fugen was thoroughly impressed by this though he did his best not to show it. He push off the wall and stood in front of the others as he put his hands out in front of him. He was thankful that he at least knew of how he looked as he constantly stared at the scar on his chest when he was healing as he started to do the hand seals while trying to focus his energy. That in itself was rather difficult to do since he had never done such things before. It was by the will of his parents that he was hardly ever in contact with shinobi, they were scared that they would lose their only child and it was something that was understandable. After finishing the hand seals, his could feel his chakra pushing through his body and outwards to his sides. He closed his eyes and focused as hard as he could before feeling a gust of wind shoot forth from the side. He looked towards his creation and his expression went from expecting to complete and utter distress and depression. His creation pretty much looked like that of Naruto's clone when he was tested on that technique... Not that Fugen knew though, at this point he thought he was just bad at the technique. He slowly looked towards the others who were just staring at the horrendous creation before laughing intensely keeling over and slapping their knees. Fugen sighed and put a hand against the wall as the clone suddenly exploded into a cloud of smoke, the other hand gripping his shirt over his wound. Grimacing a little from the shot at his pride, he suddenly stood up straight with the determination to get the technique right. He started to do that hand seals again, thinking that he did them wrong and pushed forth his chakra, creating another clone that looked like it was through into a meat grinder inducing more laughs from the group but Fugen was starting to care less and less about them.

It took over thirty minuets of trying before Fugen even got one that was remotely practical for any sort of diversion but there were still some obvious mistakes. He had never any real training in ninjutsu and never expected that he would do well in it. He had even heard of techniques called Genjutsu but that would also involve the manipulation of chakra within the mind, the one thing he had to learn now than at a young age. Unlike these guys who probably have been taught the ninja arts when they were little from their own parents or friends who just happened to be ninjas. Fugen looked to the others who were already hurting from laughing so much before Hiro saw this newest version. "There we go, something that could even pass to be you though there are a few proportional mistakes that can be noted. Not bad for your first ninjutsu technique... Yeah, we kind of figured that one out since it took you this long to muster up something like that. Anyways nice job. You must be feelin' tired. Take a drink and rest a bit man. Can not have you pass out before you tell us about yourself." Hiro tossed Fugen a can of soda, smiling a little as the rest of them started to turn themselves towards Fugen.

He popped the can open and pulled down his mask, taking a drink from it before thanking Hiro and sat down with his back to the wall. He rested his head backwards, thinking of where to start before saying, "My name is Fugen Hiroji. Not sure where my family came from but my father tells me that we branched off the Akadou clan from Hidden Sound. My life up until now was pretty dull, nothing exciting, no risk to my life... I never even had much contact with shinobi... But one day at my job at a store, some random guy came in and stabbed me through the chest without even a word of warning, not even a hint of violent intent. I barely lived through that event. If the store manager had not found me moments later, I would not even be sitting here talking to you guys here. I woke up a day later with a pain in my chest like nothing I have ever dreamed could have existed to learn of what had happened... Now I want to find that son of a b***h and return the favor ten fold... Problem now though is the fact that something inside of me had changed when I got stabbed and I do not even know what it is but I can feel it... So, that was pretty much it, nothing remarkable about me other than that. But I am sure some of you guys have some pretty interesting pasts too. Mind telling me?"

"Well, other than the fact that most of us are parts of families that make up a mafia group, not much is very entertaining. Do not worry though, the mafia group is going to be dispelled soon so our parents want us to learn the way of the ninja so we could at the least have some sort of job they would be proud of," said Hiro as he took a breath of his cigarette before putting it back. "They are all idiots though, I am pretty sure that the group can survive if they just employ shinobi to do the dirty assassination work than doing it themselves." Fugen grimaced as he heard their story. Never did he expect to run into the children of an underground organization, not to mention they would admit this purposely. Maybe he is just putting up a front? Possibly. Fugen stood up and turned his head towards the area's opening before saying, "Thank for teaching me the Bushin no Jutsu. But I really need to check up some things from the library. Something I have to find out. I am sure you understand." "Sure, you do what you need to do but remember, you are one of us now. Snitch on what we are doing here and we will find you," said Hiro as he snuffed out his nearly done cigarette. Fugen pulled the mask over his face before leaving their presence, thanking god that he got out of there intact and keeping face. He quickly moved through the building and into the bathroom where he threw some water into his face, trying to wake himself up from almost passing out from the amount of smoke that he was breathing in from that gang's hiding place. He stared at himself in the mirror, gazing into his eyes and started to fall into himself, He could remember the dreams he was having when he was under, dying from the wound in his chest, falling into the deep abyss that was going to be his death. Suddenly he was pulled out of his shock as he heard a cough from a stall behind him. He looked around, scared of where he was but quickly gave a sigh of relief. Whoever was in that stall just saved him from himself and Fugen was thankful for that as he quickly slipped out of the bathroom, not wanting to look like a freak. He found the library soon after and started to browse through the bookshelves, looking for information on the Akadou clan and why his family split themselves from it. He silently found a book on a multitude of clans that comprised of Hidden Sound and and sat down in the corner of the room, flipping through the pages.

"The Akadou clan is a small clan that specializes in steal chakra from their victims. In short they are like vampires for the soul. Their chakra draining skills are feared in combat and makes them silent assassins but why is it that they never try for the latter? Is it their pride in their abilities keeping them from becoming what they could be? I am thankful that my family split from this foolishness so that I did not have to start on this path without reason... My god what am I thinking? I really do not want to kill anyone... do I?" Fugen closed the book before leaning back his head, a hand over his eyes, massaging his temples as best he could, trying to clear the cloud of confusion from his mind. He sighed once more before pushing himself onto his feet and placed the book back... His ties to his old clan, their ties to a man named Orochimaru who nearly brought destruction on all their clans under his rule. It was a bit much for him to take in all at once, the mixed feelings, the gripping pain in his chest... He leaned against the shelves for a bit, clearing his head of all that he had just learned before leaving the Library... Only to bump right into Hiro again. Literally.

"Watch it damn it... Fugen? What the hell! I thought you learn from last time you idiot."
"I could say the same about you Hiro. So why are you here?"
"Kind of gotten worried you were telling the proctors about us. So we were just checkin' up on you, you know, mafia and all that."
"Yeah well, you did not have to bring a welcoming party you know. So you need something," asked Fugen as he brushed off the dust from his backside.
"Not much really but we thought it best if you stuck with us if you want to learn the other techniques. We got a little of everything mastered between all of us and we look after our own... Or are you planning on turning on us?"
"Has not really crossed my mind Hiro, no worries on that. But I do think I could learn a few more techniques. Chakra manipulation is not really my strong suit but I am sure that I can get the hang of it," said Fugen as they all moved to head out of the building once again. This time they stopped at the training grounds.

"Alright Fugen, we are going to teach you the Henge no Jutsu. It is like something that you throw over yourself to hide from anyone to hide your identity. Handy when you need to disappear for a while." Said Hiro. He nodded towards a sheepish looking kid who stepped forwards. Nervous as all hell, he slowly made the hand seals before disappearing in a cloud of smoke and in his place stood a full bodied woman wearing nothing but a g-string bikini while posing in a very sexual manner. Fugen fell over, bleeding profusely from his nose while the gang started to laugh and whistle towards the transformed kid. A cloud of smoke once again covered the woman before she turned back into the kid before hand, only now he is gripping the back of his head with a sheepish grin on his face, a little embarrassed with what he just did. Fugen sat up, pinching the bridge of his nose while looking at the others saying, "That was a cheap shot you know that right?" This got another round of laughing from the group as Fugen pushed himself back onto his feet and started to practice out the hand seals. This only took him about ten to fifteen minuets to get the technique passable as he transformed into Hiro.

"Not bad, took a while but not bad. Alright, I am sure that you are not tired after that one so Kimoji, Kanaha, show him what you guys are good at," said Hiro lifting up a hand and snapping his fingers. Twins stepped forwards smiling towards Fugen while explaining the fundamentals of how to traverse up the walls and trees or walk upon the water. Apparently there were many different ways but they were only going to demonstrate one. Kimoji demonstrated how to walk upon the water without sinking. His brother demonstrated how one would walk up trees and hang from it without falling or using their hands. It sounded like a simple manipulation of chakra, but that concept, manipulating one's chakra, is something that Fugen found difficult. He started with the walking on water since it would probably be the least painful out of the two. Put one foot upon the water, trying to push his chakra downwards into the water to keep himself afloat but that was failing. He tried again this time pushing the chakra to the bottom but found himself flying out of the water the more pressure he put on his feet. It was like he was repelling off the surface of the water with the amount of chakra he was actively expelling. Fugen started to get frustrated. He tried over and over again, using various methods but none of them seemed to be working. On the last attempt, he was shot out of the water and onto his back, sprawled as he breathed hard a little, trying to figure out what he was doing that was wrong. Suddenly a foot blocked out the sun, coming straight down for him.

Fugen quickly rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a boot to the head before sliding back onto his feet and raised his fists to hear Hiro call out to him. "We thought you were going to need some help so we sent over some motivation! Have fun you two!" Fugen cursed his new friend a little before moving forwards, dodging a few fists towards his face before getting a punch towards the guys stomach. But as it connected, Fugen noticed something completely strange. He could feel his chakra pulling from the guy but not like before, now it was like forcefully pulling a large chunk of chakra at once through a single point of his body. However, Fugen hestitated too long. Two heavy fists crashed down upon his back and he nearly fell to the floor before being grabbed from behind. He was lifted upwards and tossed to the side like a rag doll. Bouncing on the ground a few times, Fugen caught himself and twisted his body so that he landed on his feet for the last bounce and looked towards the muscle built juggernaut that threw him to the side like it was nothing. The lump of flesh started running towards Fugen but what Fugen did in response, nearly stopped the boy in his tracks. Fugen ran at him, not away.

Getting close, Fugen jumped forwards, sending a swift knee to the guy's shoulder, before spinning trying to land a kick to the face. That kick was intercepted by a grasping hand that took him and tossed him again in another direction. Fugen skidded and rolled a little before getting up to a round of applause by not only the muscle of the group but also by the group themselves. "Oh, you enjoying the show?" "Oh, yes but that is not why we are clapping. Look down kid." Fugen looked down and to his surprise, he was standing upon the waters surface. Fugen started to laugh a little as he thought about what the twins were telling him earlier. It was so damn simple and he over-complicated it. The amount of chakra that flowed out of him subconsciously would have been enough. All he needed to do was learn how to mold it subconsciously. He was subconsciously dispersing his chakra over the surface of the water so that he could balance himself on something that was solid. It was like when he was fighting now that he thought about it. To keep his footing or to get more traction, he was pushing his chakra into the ground with the back of his mind, gripping it so that he could move around easier. Thinking on the concept, he would take this and use the results to climb up trees as well by having the chakra act as roots so that he could 'cling' onto the side of the tree and its branches. As he returned to shore, he started to think about what happened when he punched the other kid. He had subconsciously achieved stealing chakra with that punch. A skill left only to the Akadou clan. Maybe that was what was wrong with his chakra? Was it that particular ability that his chakra drew energy from his surroundings? Is that what was causing his family to grow tired easily when they are around him? If that was the case, Fugen realized he was becoming more and more dangerous as time was going on. He looked towards Hiro who now stood up and was walking towards him.

"Alright, last thing we can teach you. It is kind of a swapping technique that allows you to slip away from an attack so long as you have a replacement available. For example," said Hiro as he raised a hand. As he did, a couple kunai and shuriken flew out from the side and struck him with enough force to send him falling to one side, almost off his feet. Fugen's eyes opened wide even though he kind of figured this was a demonstration. It was just shocking to see someone potentially get harmed right in front of him. As Hiro's body hit the ground, it was enveloped by a cloud of smoke and replaced with a log that had the shuriken and kunai stuck in it. Fugen looked towards the side and saw Hiro leaning against the building with a smirk on his face. "Cool ain't it? Here are the basics to this technique." Hiro explained the technique with great detail, revealing that it takes slight of hand and a fast movement to get the technique down but as he drew a kunai with the intent to practice throwing it at Fugen, Fugen felt himself being drawn into his dreams once again.

He was falling, darkness enshrouding him, enveloping him inside a cold embrace. His heartbeat slowly fading out in the background, pulsing slower and slower. Silence was quick, filling his ears with nothingness as he continued to fall ever deeper into the cold abyss. He grew afraid again... Was he going to dream this time? Or was he going to stay in this dark cold hell like the last time? Only permanently... A sharp shaking of his shoulders suddenly woke him up from his sleep, jerking him to sit straight up and completely awake to find that Hiro and the others gathered around him. He could feel the cold sweat rolling down his face and soaking his clothing as he tried to push them away so he could get some space. The last thing he needed right then was to be crowded without realizing where he was. He pushed himself to his feet and told them he was fine but needed to leave. Needed to rest. They escorted him to the gates and sent him on his way with a friendly little message...

"Snitch and we will gut ya if we see you again." How pleasant...

A pale green glow illuminated the room; that was the only light in the otherwise shadowy enclosure. It was an immense room, the vaulted ceiling reached far overhead, too far to see. The walls were equally lost to the shadows, but there was an unmistakable width and breadth to the room, one could simply feel that it was enormous. It wasn't empty, either. Numerous cylinders, each taller than a man, were arrayed in staggered rows. These cylinders were filled with a thick liquid which seemed to glow from that same green light, indeed that light was actually being refracted through those tubes to illuminate parts of the room. In addition to the liquid, there were figures in the tubes, human or humanoid figures. It was impossible to make out any real details of these figures, of who they were or why they were there. But the cloaked figure moving silently amidst these tubes seemed to recognize each figure at a glance. They proceeded slowly, a hand carefully brushing against one tube after another, checking on the progress of each tube's inhabitants. What they were looking for was impossible to say; there seemed no real rhyme or reason in what they looked for.

They finally came to a stop after having traversed almost the entire collection of tubes, stopping in front of one that looked no different from any of the others. Yet there was no doubt in the cloaked figure's mind, this one was ready. They threw their hood back, revealing piercing blue eyes, dusky blonde hair, pale skin and a mischievous smile. "Time to wake up, my darling four-nine-seven!" The voice that called out was lyrical and feminine, though with an unmistakable undercurrent of mania. The cloaked stranger reached down to press her palm to the panel at the base of the tube, where the scanner responded to her prints and emitted a solemn beep.

The liquid began to siphon out of the tube, slurping away into a vast underground receptacle, where it would be purified and revitalized, infused with the complex nutrients and amino acids required for its next use. It was a complicated material to produce, but the benefits for her continuing experiments made it more than worth the process. And the fact that it could be recycled and reused, instead of having to be discarded and potentially drawing unwanted attention from ecological busybodies, was even better. She required privacy when conducting these experiments; she didn't want to be disturbed except for the occasions that were on her terms.

The liquid finally vacated the tube, and only then did the glass tube begin to sink down into the floor. The tube's inhabitant was held in place by a simple harness connecting them to the ceiling, vaguely like a puppet's strings. The irony wasn't lost on the cloaked stranger, a slight smile appearing for a moment before vanishing once more. She took a moment to simply admire her handiwork, another magnificent success! The tube's inhabitant looked like a young woman, somewhere between the ages of seventeen and twenty-five. She had long auburn hair that hung down to her waist, and her skin's slight tan would offset her hair beautifully in normal light. In the green light from underneath, the unconscious figure seemed almost sickly.

The cloaked figure reached up and undid the harness holding the unconscious form in place. They caught the slumping form easily, before managing to lay her out on the wheeled cot that had shown up, seemingly from nowhere. With that done, the cloaked figure moved away from the amassed collection of life-size tubes, approaching the far side of the room, where the rest of her tools were stored. Four-nine-seven was almost ready, there were only a few more steps required before she would awaken and step into the role for which she had been crafted. Indeed, crafted, not born or created. She was not a human, she was not even alive, strictly speaking. She was an automaton, a doll, a puppet of sorts. Powered by a complex formula which combined aspects of clockwork, chakra manipulation, and absorbing raw energy from one's surroundings, she was a self-powered doll. One of many that the infamous Doll Master Sumer had crafted, one of the Magic Dolls that could follow commands from their assigned owner, following without question. Even those who did not possess the skills to power one of Sumer's creations could serve as a master or mistress, such was the ingenuity of her design. As long as they had been programmed with an owner, and given proper instruction, they could perform almost as well as a human, but without any of that pesky insubordination or betrayal.

Sumer was justifiably proud of her children, and as such they didn't come cheap. Oh, she knew she couldn't keep them all, so she decided to let others take them in. For a price, of course. That was why she was working so industriously today, as a matter of fact. There were only a few more days before the auction, she wanted to have as many of her children ready as possible. Quite a few visiting dignitaries and entrepreneurs were coming, each intent upon purchasing one or more of her children if they were able. She saw no reason not to give them all such a chance.

******

And then it was the night of her little soiree. Sumer had worked until late that morning, having only gotten to sleep a few hours before. Yet the excitement that was building was keeping her going, she could always sleep after. For now, there was so much to do, so much to make her home presentable to all of her guests. She wasn't about to open her entire home to scrutiny, that would be the height of foolishness. But she had opened the ballroom, normally used for storing old notes and research papers. It looked completely different, now that it was fully cleaned and decked out for a party. An understated party, to be sure, but a party nonetheless. Soft music could be heard in the background, and several low tables had been set out with an assortment of finger foods and drinks. Including several particularly rare bottles of wine, ones she had selected from her own stores. She didn't indulge in alcohol herself, but several of her previous patrons had tried to curry favor with lavish gifts, including those same bottles of wine.

While the ballroom was looking resplendent, she herself looked the same as always. Oh, she had dozens if not hundreds of pretty dresses, all frills and lace. But she didn't care to wear such things, she preferred the comfort of her hooded cloak. It may have been incongruous to see a figure in a voluminous cloak bustling about a festively-lit ballroom, but she didn't mind. Her guests weren't coming for her personality, they were coming for business, covered over by a thin veneer of the social niceties.

Over the next hour, those guests began to arrive, in twos and threes. Somebody who had paid attention to the political landscape of the assorted villages might have been awed or impressed by the sheer cavalcade of important faces. But Sumer never did pay much attention to such things, and as a result, those faces meant nothing to her. Instead she just greeted everyone the same. Warmly, with a slight but still present hint of mockery. Their reactions gave her a certain insight into why they had come. Some had come for a genuine need for a bodyguard or servant. Others were simply greedy, driven by their desire to own one of her creations. One or two were there to try to uncover her secret in how she created them. They tried to hide it, but she still noticed it. It was a certain furtiveness in their eyes, a guarded sense of body language. For as little as she left her home and workshop, she was surprisingly good at reading people.

When the last of her expected guests arrived, the doors were closed. She waited for a few moments to let them mingle and chat amongst themselves. No reason to rush, not when so many secrets were being exchanged during this brief moment of calumny. After all, an opportunity like this, having a chance to talk to a representative of another nation, was something not to be missed. Arranging tete-a-tetes, coups, even assassinations, anything was possible! And Sumer was privy to it all, due to a few special additions she had placed in the room beforehand.

But finally she noticed the crowd beginning to grow restless; it was time to get the evening's entertainment underway. A stage had been erected on one side of the room, against the closed double doors that led deeper into her home. Beyond those doors, her children waited to be called out, waited patiently and without complaint. She ascended the stage slowly, hearing the assorted muttered conversations falter and stop as her guests noticed her presence. She stopped in front of a small lectern, picking up a cordless microphone. It wasn't needed, not really. The ballroom had wonderful acoustics, everyone should have been able to ehar her at anything more than a soft whisper. But the appeal of the microphone was in the theatrics, and she did love a good show.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased that so many of you took the time to visit this evening! I know you're all anxious to begin the real reason you all came, but I'd like to take the time to inform you all of the rules. Don't worry, there aren't that many. There is no trying before you buy, none of my children have been instructed to obey anyone but me yet. So don't even try. Payment is due in full, immediately after the auction finishes. Don't go up or down any stairs, the rest of my home is off-limits. And finally, there is no refund, nor should you need one. My children are tough, but not invulnerable. If you're reckless with them, it's your own fault." With that said, she clapped her hands once to recapture everyone's flagging attention. "And that's it, let's get this show started!"

With that, the atmosphere of the room changed. Seats appeared, arrayed to face the same stage that Sumer was still standing on, though now on the side. The lights dimmed, with the exception of a spotlight that shone down on the center of the stage, and the curtain that hid part of it from the audience. The music changed, becoming more energetic, and just the littlest bit raunchy. Sumer introduced the first of her children for the evening, and the curtain parted slightly to allow her to step through.

She was a delicate thing, with straw blonde hair and light blue eyes. Her face was expressionless, and her skin was slightly on the darker side of fair. She wore a dress that was reminiscent of the gothic lolita style, though missing a few of the key features of that line. Instead, it was simply an exotic touch on the formal. She stepped forward, striding out onto the stage before pausing. As she did, Sumer introduced her, including her number, specifications and programming. She was suited toward roles with only light combat, and had a full suite of housekeeping information, ranging from cooking to cleaning to all the other little tasks that someone who wished to lead a pampered life would require.

The bidding started slowly, everyone present knew that there were many more lovelies to be set before them, with specialized forms and functions. Even so, a rather ordinary Magic Doll was still something special, and even this model finally went for a healthy sum. Once the bidding had concluded, the Magic Doll bowed, first to Sumer, then in the direction of the one who'd won her, before retreating back behind the curtain until the event had concluded.

Then came the next girl, and the next. A long line of them, each different from the last. Some were built for combat or assassinations, those went for high prices indeed. Others were suited to be teachers or other roles suitable for bringing up the young. Still others held a myriad of other roles, ranging from record-keeping to magic comprehension, even to spiritualist. There was even one sad looking girl was was declared defective; even she found a home in one young couple who hadn't the money to afford anything better.

Finally, several hours after it had begun, the auction had finished. Sumer had collected the fortune due her, and she had introduced her daughters to their new families. At the same time, she gave those customers a few bits of advice toward keeping her children functional and maintained. Only after all of that was done, only then was she by herself again. There were still other Magic Dolls in production, but they wouldn't be ready for several weeks yet. Sadly, that meant there was nothing for her to do. And that meant one thing. She was going to be so bored! She needed to find something else to do, something else to throw herself into, to occupy her mind while she waited for her newest generation of daughters to be ready.

Then it hit her. She could go out, leave her home in search of new inspiration! But where to go... She needed somewhere that saw a wide variety of people, to get the maximum amount of inspiration in the shortest amount of time. That was it, the Ninja Academy! It accepted students from all over, that was perfect! Surely, if she could enter there, even for just a few days, she'd have all the inspiration she could ever need!

But she'd need a few things before setting out. She had sold some of her children to ninja in the past, so she knew a bit about how they acted and what sort of devices they made use of. She'd have to do a bit of shopping before showing up at the Academy, a few odds and ends. And just in case, she would take one of her children with her. If nothing else, that would ensure she had something to work on if the actual day to day life at the Academy proved boring.

The next morning her enrollment papers were sent in. It was unusual for someone older than a teenager to enroll, but not unheard of. She had made a few small contributions to certain select members of the administration to hasten the process, she wasn't interested in having to wait for a new semester to begin. And she had confidence enough in her own skills that she was sure she could catch up to everyone else in no time at all. She was slated to attend starting in four days, that left her three in which to close up shop and be on her way.

Most of her experiments were stable enough that all she had to do was lock them down, to halt them midway through the various processes. Beyond that, there were only a few other tasks that needed to be done. Cleaning out her fridge of anything that would spoil, and putting her unique security measures in place. If word got out that she had left her workshop, then there was a solid chance that somebody out there would be reckless enough to try to help themselves to any of her children that hadn't already been sold. If they tried, however, they would be in for a surprise, one they wouldn't soon forget.

It was a crisp autumn morning, a light breezing sending gusts of fallen leaves flying along the road. Sumer had set out early, to avoid the lingering traces of heat from her namesake season. It was still early enough in the season that midday could get unpleasantly warm, and she would be just as happy to avoid that if possible. She spent almost all of her time indoors; as a result she would burn easily if she got too much sun. To help combat that, she was still wearing her cloak, but it couldn't offer complete protection.

She could see the Academy a short distance ahead. A small grove of trees covered much of the space between it and her, while a slender dirt path led a meandering way to the front gates. Past those gates, she knew there would be still more forested space before reaching the Academy itself. She had done her research, so she had a good idea of just how big the place was.

Over the next few moments, she strolled down the path and through the gates. She could see glimpses of the Academy proper through the branches of the trees, flashes of the structure through streaks of green. It was a large building, and the research she had completed before setting out told her that there were several outlier buildings, sheds and such. For the moment, all she could see was the main hall. That was where she would enter, where she would find the various classes and where she would finish her registration. She had pulled some strings to get the process started, but she could only finish the registration in person.

A warm breeze caught the edge of her cloak, and she looked forward to stepping inside and getting out of the light and wind. Fresh air could be refreshing at times, but she was used to spending the majority of every day inside, far away from wind or even windows. Most days, she didn't even know what time it was, it could just as easily be the middle of the night. But now that she was going to be interacting with the world again, she would have to shift to a diurnal schedule, being active during the day and then going to sleep at night. How boring.

It only took a few moments to complete the registration process. Really, all that was needed was for her to prove she was who she said she was. Once that was taken care of, thanks to the judicious inclusion of an escort in the form of one of her Magic Dolls, she was able to enter the Academy as a student.

Rhythm was having fun. But the kunai that Aki threw was now. It pierced into his skin, and he flinched for a second, before standing on his feet again. Then Edward had to throw three kunai at Rhythm's chest, which made it an easy dodge. Without so much as thinking about it, Rhythm jumped up as high as he could, then used his chakra in his feet to stick to the ceiling. Then the flash bomb went off, and the blonde has to cover his eyes to shield the light from them. He also huffed, what on earth was going on? Aki too was temporarily blinded, and had to resort to sensing things. But Rhythm wasn't paying too much attention to the other spars going on, and therefore something hit him off the ceiling. One of his other classmates had been thrown up into him, and the two of them came crashing down to the ground. Eri, his classmate, was laying on top of Rhythm, his head resting on his chest. Rhythm was rubbing the back of his head, while Eri just continued to lay on the blonde. He didn't mind much, but he was in slight pain.

"Eri? What on earth happened?" Rhythm asked, groaning in pain. The older boy simply grunted, and rolled off the blonde. He blinked a couple times, then slowly stood up. Eri's sparring partner came over, and was making sure they were okay. Eri's partner, Aya, was looking over Eri for some wounds. A few cuts and bruises, and that's about it. She was also going to check over Rhythm, but she got all embarrassed and blushed a lot. She greeted him, then took Eri away. Rhythm quickly shook off his dizziness, then was about to jump right back into the fight, but then the teacher called to them.

"Alright class, that's it for now." He said with a slight bored tone. Rythm just nodded to his partners, then began to join the growing crowd in front of the teacher. Aki was soon by Rhythm's side, clinging to his arm and sweet talking to him. He just smiled and talked back, completely oblivious to her flirting.

Of course that Rhythm had dodged in the wrong fashion, moving up instead of down. He had set himself on the ceiling where Edward wouldn't be able to reach. On the bright side, the flash bomb went off without a hitch, and Blinded his partners and opponents. At that, it seemed another student had been knocked straight into the dancing ninja and they both fell from the ceiling. Rhythm seemed dazed, but quickly had recovered. Edward prepared to continue, but then the teacher arrived. They signaled to the students for the end of the exercise. Edward frowned in disappointment that it was over. He had been ready to sock it to Rhythm, that silly, dancing, no good, blond-haired doofus of a ninja. It was clear that Edward didn't think very highly of him, at least within Edwards own perception. And of course as they were all being called, Aki was clinging to him like barncles of the side of a whale. Edward followed them, arms crossed. That fight, in his find, had been way too short, and he hadn't had the chance to show what he could really do. In truth, he had a long way to go. He followed them all back into the classroom, and once again went to his seat. The teacher began reviewing to them, each of the most basic, and perhaps, most important techniques they would ever learn, at least according to the teacher. He started with the Henge no Jutsu technique, which was just japanese for transformation technique. As a demonstration, with a puff of smoke, he would change to look like the then hokage. The teacher would ask each and every one of them to try it, by transforming into whatever form they wished. Edward began to think it over, even as he stood up to form the hand seals.

As the teacher began to lecture them again, Rhythm poped his head phones back onto his head, and soon his pencil was scribbling stuff all over the page. Doodles began to form, and then the teacher began to call upon him. Quickly looking up, Rhythm began to read his lips, an art he taught himself so he didn't have to pull off his head phones all the time. The red head next to him simply watched him draw, and continued to look at all his drawings. The blonde slowly got up to the front, his music still playing into his ears, and with the last couple of hand signs, a puff of smoke cloaked him. He grinned, and soon the Hokage was standing in front of them. Now, the class just laughed, as Rhythm went on with his little dance, and couldn't help it. The hokage was a girl at the moment, and so it was funny watching her dance around. Then the puff of smoke suddenly appeared, and a dancing blonde was put in her place. He couldn't help it, he loved the music he was dancing to. Slowly, he made his way back to his desk, bobbing his head to the beat of the song. Aki just smiled to him, the leaned her head onto his shoulder when he sat down. He, himself, got back to drawing his doodles, waiting for the day to be over.

Edward had glanced to rhythm through the lecture, noting, of course, that the boy decided to hardly pay attention. He would listen to his music, and draw, while that girl would just watch him. As they were all trying out the transformation technique. Rhythm, of course, had to be the showoff, apparently, and moved to the front of the room for his transformation. He took the form of the hokage, and began dancing and parading around, much to Edward's disdain. He changed back mid-dance. Edward just frowned as the boy made his way back, before, himself, transforming. The teacher wasn't particularly amused by the spectacle, but it was clear that Rhythm had mastered the use of the technique. The others would transform, some to the kages, some to the teacher. Edward would concentrate, before transforming himself into Rhythm. This version however, had a rather large head, with cross eyes. Its hair was covered in little bows, it's mouth contorted into a troll's smile. Lastly, the transformation was wearing a pink tutu. In transformation, he began to replicate Rhythm's dance moves on the spot. He got laughs from the surrounding students, and a scowled look from the teacher for the new disruption. In truth, Edward didn't even care if Rhythm noticed. Moments later, Edward would change back, an evil smile on his face as his chuckled to himself before sitting back down. It would take a minute or two before the laughter died from the given commotion. Once the class was settled, the teacher would clear his throat, before moving on. He began discussing the clone technique. Once again, he would display this to all the students, showing them how to create the copies and displaying the results of forming five of them. The teacher told the class that they would need to take the time to practice them each, and try and form at least three adequate clones.
