It was hard for him not to think about his encounter with Kieran. Everything was still so fresh in his mind and he had no idea where the man had taken off to when he rejected him. He was glad that Abel had been able to come to see him after the fact, especially knowing what a big inconvenience it was. As the lift lowered them slowly to the ground floor, he glanced towards the male. Whether Abel noticed or not he gave no indications. Jakob turned his eyes back towards the shiny silver doors. Another minute or so passed before they reached the ground level. The lift chimed and the doors slid open smoothly. Stepping out, the lobby was bright with natural light pooling in through the windows. He squinted against the light while his eyes adjusted. With another glance to Abel, he continued to lead him through the lobby and out the door. "I think you'll like this place a little more than last nights' pick." he said, holding the door. "It's kind of cozy, and not nearly as far a walk."

Indeed Abel had noticed Miguel had been watching him; however he didn't acknowledge it. He too was curious about Kirean. Abel didn't know what he was thinking. All he'd been dealing with from him had been anger. He wasn't used to such things from Kieran. They hadn't been on speaking terms and he could only guess why. Kirean had felt betrayed by Miguel.

As the doors opened, Miguel had shifted beside him and drew him from his thoughts. He followed after Miguel into the lobby and off the elevator. The light streaming from the doorway was rather bright. Abel hadn't thought to bring sunglasses with him.

Following Miguel, they were soon outside. Abel listened as Miguel spoke of the bistro they were headed to. He wasn't too worried about the walk. Abel hadn't hated the food last night either. His appetite had been hampered by his mood. He hoped though that nothing would ruin it now.

As he exited his building he felt the cooler air on his face. He was glad he had brought along a sweater. While it wasn't exactly freezing, standing in the sun was nice. Still, he wasn't sure that would be enough to keep him warm the entire time they were out. Jakob did his best not to think about Kieran or where he might be hiding. Instead, he turned his attention to Abel as he talked about where they would eat today. In return the male said nothing. Perhaps he was being too chatty again.

Together they walked a few paces from the building, Jakob took a left and followed the same street he usually took to work. The bistro really wasn't that far, only one block away. From what he knew, the business was small and family owned, much like the many other businesses in the area. He mostly liked it because of their delicious coffee and fresh breads and pastries. He hoped nothing would ruin Abel's appetite today. He still seemed a little lost in his thoughts and didn't want him to dwell too much either. As they continued down the street, Jakob took another glance his way. He extended his hand in gesture, hoping that he might take it.

Abel wasn't bothered by Miguel's chatting. He encouraged it though didn't have a response to his words. Abel had been lost in thought though had been listening in parts. He hadn't meant to remain oblivious. Abel walked alongside Miguel down the sidewalk in the direction of the bistro. He glanced toward Miguel seeing movement as he extended his hand. Abel reached down, taking Miguel's hand into his own as they continued down the block.

For the most part he was used to Abel's silence. He understood that not everything he said needed a response. Jakob only hoped he didn't get too caught up in his thoughts. As they strolled down the sidewalk, he reached out his hand in offering. Jakob smiled as he took it and briefly leaned against him. He hardly cared if anyone passing saw. If Kieran was around, he especially hoped that he saw. The thought of ruffling his feather first thing in the morning amused him. Though he supposed he might not want to anger him too much if they were to meet. Abel still had to live with him. They continued their way down the block. Many cars and a few people on the street passed them by. Jakob hardly paid them much attention. So far, no sign of Kieran, and he felt a little relieved in that fact. Maybe he didn't need to worry so much after all.

Taking hold of Miguel's hand, he felt the male lean against him. Abel didn't mind as he continued down the sidewalk with Miguel. He wasn't too sure how Kirean would react if he saw them together. Abel could only assume it would be amusing, most likely it would result in a confrontation. He could see the cars passing them by. Abel tried to avoid the morning people walking around them. He was hardly in a hurry.

Walking down hand in hand, he couldn't help think about how Kieran might react to him being with Abel. Angry, of course, that much was obvious. But what he might say made him the most curious. Kieran had a talent for being cruel when he wanted to hurt him. No doubt such an act of affection would only drive that ridiculous notion of his that he never cared about him. He needed to stop thinking about him. He would only work himself into a panic if he didn't. Jakob took a breath as they continued down the block. They were nearing the end of it and he could see the cross walk just up ahead.

As they walked, Abel glanced toward Miguel who seemed lost in thought. He could only guess what he was thinking about. Abel's own thoughts had geared toward Kirean as well. He didn't want to think about the what ifs though he knew eventually they'd see him. Abel still had his promise to keep by taking Miguel to see him. They continued down the sidewalk toward an intersection with a crosswalk. He didn't know where they were going so he continued to follow Miguel's lead.

He needed to get out of his head. He would be no fun to be around if he kept obsessing about the whereabouts of his former lover. Moreover he knew it would bother Abel that he was thinking about someone else. Especially after all they had done earlier together. Nearing the cross walk, Jakob took a breath and focused on what was in front of him. With another glance towards Abel, he calmed slightly. He slipped his fingers in between Abel’s own as he clung to him. When they reached the crossing, there was a small group already waiting to cross. He joined them, watching as the cars passed, soon slowing to a stop as the lights changed and they were given time to cross. The Bistro was a little more than halfway down the second block. That was all he had left to endure then he could forget about Kieran from jumping out to scare him from behind a trash can or some random bush.

It wouldn't thrill him to know Miguel was thinking of Kirean but he understood. His own thoughts were stuck on Kirean. Abel hadn't had contact with him since before he left the states. As they walked, he felt movement against his hand as Miguel laced their fingers together. They soon arrived at the crosswalk with a handful of other pedestrians. It wasn't long before the light changed allowing them to cross. He followed Miguel across the street still holding onto his hand. Arriving at the otherside, they continued down the next block.

Holding on to Abel, Jakob continued to lead them down the street. With each step he felt a little bit better. Like he had been worrying all for nothing. Kieran wasn’t here, he probably ran back to Chicago with his tail tucked between his legs. That was what he wanted to think, but still he worried inner voice said otherwise. It was annoying and he tried to ignore it. After crossing the street, he glanced around at the passing faces. Men, women, children, but none of them familiar. It made him feel a bit better in knowing that. As they continued down the street he could see the bistro in the distance. ”See that blue awning up ahead,” he said with a slight nod of his head. ”That’s where we’ll be dining.”

Up ahead, he observed the buildings. Abel glanced toward Miguel as he spoke of the place they'd be dining at. He nodded at his words as they continued on toward the bistro. It didn't take long to get there after crossing the road. As they arrived, Abel reached for the door and opened it. He allowed Miguel to pass inside to lead the way towards a table.

Continuing down the street it wasn’t too much farther than where he was taking him. Jakob pointed out the awning, which was blue and stood out among the other dull colors. Beside him, Abel nodded quietly and they continued on their way. The rest of the walk did not take them very long. Jakob smiled as the man reached for the door and held it for him. He entered the small eatery. Inside it smelled of fresh bread and coffee. There were about a dozen tables placed about the room and less than half of them were full. Near the door a sign indicated that they could seat themselves. Jakob led the way to a booth with a view of the street. Releasing the male’s hand, he slipped into the one side of the booth, and grabbed two menus from the holder on the table.

Even before reaching the bistro, he could already smell the scents emanating from it. His mouth watered at the flavors though it was probably because he was starving and had been ignoring it. Abel entered behind Miguel as he opened the door. He followed Miguel as they were given the opportunity to seat themselves. Abel always hated restaurants that made you sit where they wanted. He understood it allowed for equal customers between the waiters but he found it annoying. Reaching a booth with a few of the street, Abel felt Miguel release his hand. He waited as Miguel took a seat before taking his own across from him. Abel could see around the bistro as they sat there. He hardly noticed until he glanced in a far corner booth; there sat Kirean. Abel could see the look of betrayal and anger on his face as he set his coffee cup down. He was drawn away as Miguel handed him a menu. Abel opened it up but his eyes kept wandering to Kirean.

Indeed, the smells coming from the bistro were heavenly. He could practically taste those waffles as they were walking through the door. As Jakob led them to their table he hadn’t bothered to keep looking for Kieran. He wanted to believe it was too early or he had already gone back home. When he took his seat he had not noticed that Kieran was sitting just a few tables away from them. As Jakob slipped into the booth, he grabbed menu’s them both and handed one to Abel. He smiled softly as Abel took it from him and opened his own. The breakfast options filled the first two pages of the menu. The pictures provided looked just as delicious as they were described. As he was reading the menu a waiter approached table and introduced himself. “Can I get you anything to drink?” He asked. Jakob ordered himself a cafe au lait, needing the warmth after their little walk.
