For breakfast I am having a couple of petit fours. <3

No. Her mother is a welfare-gobbling nutjob with multiple children. Their daughter now has a permanent infection in her lower extremities because of lack of care; she can't take a shower or use the toilet here unless we bleach out the tub/toilet after because it's highly contagious.

It's ******** ridiculous and makes me want to adopt a special needs child because I KNOW I would be more loving and caring than that. My stepsister Hannah was special needs, and Kat's taken care of the sick and dying most of her teenage life... sometimes I wonder if it was all training in a way so we'd be prepared as adults to give that kind of care. We'll see in a few years.

YUSH THEY ARE.

And lawl. Maybe my niece will be born on your birthday. The mother only just turned 14 so I'm sure she's likely to have it early.

My parents and my sisters love those, but I've never liked them, for some reason. x_x I'm excited for my birthday cake though. Twill be strawberry. <3

Wow . . . that really is terrible. There's no question in my mind that you'd be a much more responsible parent.

I want a black baby. :/

Wow . . . a baby at 14. Still blows my mind. x_x

Maybe not at this point, but in the next two or three years, I really want to take that path. If they promote me to supervisor like I want, within three years I should be able to get into training new hires like I want to. That's 40 hours a week on a set schedule doing work I'd absolutely love. At that point Kat could keep her job at part time and not have to worry about it, and we'd be able to not only care for the child, but support it financially. Whether it's our own or an adopted child (probably in teens because we're just like that.)

In addition, Kansas awards monthly monetary support to families who adopt a child. I will not, however, even THINK about adopting a kid unless I myself could support them. I'm not some lazy pig who collects kids for the welfare checks.

Kansas does not explicitly forbid gay couples from adopting legally. We'd just have to look into it and find an agency that was willing to work with us. We've got a good-sized house with two extra bedrooms and a yard. And I hope to have my credit report clean as fresh snow by that point. XD

...A black baby? That's the type of personal dispute you need to take up with Darrell directly. XD LAWL.

I know, right? xX;

That's great that you'd want to adopt a teen. heart I was talking with my mom about adoption the other day, and there are all those teens out there whom no one adopts because they're older than the age range they want. That's sad.

My mom pisses me off with her ignorance--when she and I were talking about gays adopting, she said, "Well, the agency would have to consider the well-being of the child." "Why's that? " "Well, if two men are willing to have sex with each other, who's to say that they're not willing to molest a child?" " . . . Mom, that is stupid. You're heterosexual, right? You've had sex with your husband, a man. Does that mean that if you adopt a son, you'll molest him? No. That's completely ignorant to say that gays will." Ugh.

If Darrell and I end up going out that long (hopefully, but, ya know, things happen) I'll just adopt a baby. 9 months of agony = DO NOT WANT!

Well, if you think about it, adopting a teenager when you're in your mid-twenties is a perfect idea. You're able to share interests in many things, mutually enjoy activities like going to theme parks, and you as a parent have not matured beyond remembering what it's like to be a teenager.

I can understand the concern of a homosexual couple negatively affecting a child to some extent. For example, young men raised by fiercely independent women tend to become more weak-willed and feminine because they lack a masculine influence; the same is true in reverse for girls. Not to say this is concrete and all children grow up that way, but in my experience there's been a far bigger likelihood. (Kat and I have discussed it at length and decided that we will have a consistent male in the child's life to help even it out and allow the child to mature into their proper personality naturally.) There is also the concern of affecting the child's moral views and imposing an agenda on them. I for one will NEVER tell my child "God says it's okay" or "it's normal, you can be one too!" at a young age; rather, I will explain that they have two mothers and leave it at that, allowing them to draw their own moral line as they grow older. (Frankly, the 'you're just making more supporters of homosexuals by raising children' thing is silly, because the same could be said about Christians raising up Christians, or health food nuts raising up health zombies, etc. XD There will always be people raising their children with their own views.)

What I do have concerns about is how my child will be treated because of their parents. I went to school with a girl with lesbian parents and she was treated very cruelly. She also struggled with explaining it to those of us who didn't understand, while trying to understand it herself. But isn't the same to be expected for the children of alcoholics, soldiers, actors, etc? Anyone with different family structures will grow up with different problems.

LAWL. I don't blame you. Though I have dreams of being pregnant and having that connection with a child.. so I don't know, wherever the road takes me I'll go. :B

That's true. The only problem is whether or not they would be willing to treat you as an authority figure despite your age difference being so low.

Children are always somehow negatively affected by their parents. Even parents in perfect families find something to say their parents did wrong with them. Parenting is a hard thing-- shaping children's psychological states and holding yourself responsible for their well-being. I don't wanna do that aaaaaany time soon. x_x

Yeah, I know whatcha mean. Sometimes I daydream about the connection having a child would bring between me and my potential partner, but at the same time, I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally have a giant phobia of childbirth.

True. However, I think establishing your status as a figure of authority isn't so much about age as how you represent yourself. I see dozens of mothers in their late thirties with toddlers who don't respect them at all, and it's because the women aren't really taking the reigns to be respected.

*Rolls around* I work from 2 until 11 tonight. Hatehatehate that shift. gonk

And you never told me what you thought of that Sev/Charity fic. talk2hand

Yeah, that makes sense. I have like zero authority whatsoever. XD

Ewwwwwww. That sucks. D: Good luck with that.

Oh, yeah! Oops. Well, if you want an in-depth review, I can't really give that. x_x But I can tell you what my favorite parts are. After I get done exercising (about to head off now) and take a shower, I'll post a comment on the community journal entry. 3nodding

Off to the elliptical I go! *zoom*

No, I just want a "I liked/hated/loved/licked this fanfiction!" comment XD Ain't picky.

It is currently 14 degrees outside, but it feels like 6 due to the nasty Kansas wind. It might snow in the evening, which figures because I'm on carts. Luckily it's only 15-minute rounds.

I've got Jay Sean's "Down" stuck in my head. I ******** love this song more than I ought to considering I'm not familiar with the artist. I need a video camera, I have this really strong urge to put a buncha silly clips of Kat and I to it.

It says "and honestly, I'm down like the economy" in the lyrics. WIN. X3

Doesn't count unless it's stated in the livejournal community. talk2hand

I have the day off. SOMEONE GET ONLINE PLZKTHNX. gonk

Ugh, thank god I'm using Firefox now. I'm using IE for a minute because it's easier to edit profiles, but... Christ, everything about Gaia just looks like crap on this browser.

For example, on Christina's profile I have pictures placed in custom boxes on either side of her about section. Firefox automatically smoothes the image because Gaia downsized it, but on IE it's all jagged pixels.

At least bing.com is awesome XD

Christina's name reminds me of that song I Predict a Riot by the Kaizer Cheifs. XD

*spins* I'm here now!
