"First timer, eh? I'm Jake," Jake grinned at him, and started to dance. "I got dibs on buying you a drink later," He was dancing close, but not yet touching Dari. "I thought I would've recognized a cutie like you."

'Cutie' again? Hey. It was a compliment at least!
"If you say so," Dari said with a half-grin. "Flatterer. You're not so bad-looking yourself." He gave the man a once-over. Really not bad. He wasn't sure he actually liked the guy, but that was well beyond the point. He wanted to dance and feel. He bridged the gap and put a hand on Jake's shoulder.

Jake grinned, and it only broadened when Dari closed the gap between them. He didn't hesitate. "So where ya from?" he asked. "Around here?" Could he see this cutie again?
Luca looked to Lori. "I don't like him," he said, glancing at Jake briefly. "He's no good."

Lori turned his head slightly to see who Dari was dancing with. "No?" He kind of looked like the douchebag type, but sometimes first appearances weren't true. Lori certainly looked like a few things he wasn't himself.
Dari's heart picked up the pace. He loved this feeling. Someone was touching him, and they were interested in him.
"Yes. Right around here, actually. I needed a new place to go." New, first, same difference. He remembered his assigned identity.

"No," Luca said, firmly. "He's like-" an incubus. he wrinkled his nose in disgust. "I hate guys like that."
"Really? You should come more often." As the music progressed, so did Jake's movements. He began to grind against Dari.

Lori leaned in and kissed Luca on the nose. 'Guys like that.' Everyone had dealt with guys like that. He didn't like them either.
"We'll keep an eye on him." Dari was new to humanity but not a new person. To parent him would be distinctly against Dari's identity as his own being.
As the grinding began, Dari threw his head back and laughed, then put a hand over the lower half of his face and blushed. Seriously?! Already?! If this was gay culture he thought it was ridiculous!

Ah. Hm. This guy was...weird, Jake decided, as he stepped back. Normally people looked for fast action, but this guy--this guy was laughing at him! He hurried off to find a new dance partner.

Dari barely enunciated a 'whuh?' as Jake left. Just like that?! But he was having fun! He came here to dance and meet people! What about that drink he was owed?! Bah! People. How disappointing! Dari went out on a search himself, found a young man that he found attractive, and ended up having a hell of a time just dancing with him and his friends. They laughed, they got a few drinks together, and everything seemed to be going well from Lori's vantage.
"See? He's smarter than that failure of a seducer."
In time Lori and Luca moved away from the dance floor as well, and were sitting when Dari came to find them.
"Hi!" he chirped, sidling up next to Luca. "Shots are not pleasant, but they had fun doing them." The first 'them' being his new friends, of course. He did not seem remotely drunk, though.

"I've never taken shots," Luca had to admit. He didn't like alcohol, especially when it was strong and bitter-tasting. "Did you have fun?" That was the important thing, they were introducing Dari to an entirely new way of life. He'd been genderless for so long--his entire life, and now that he had one, he'd discovered himself.

"Don't," Dari suggested with a laugh, "Everyone made funny faces, myself included. I think you take them to get drunk, not because you like them."
Lori nodded. "Yup."
"I did! Those guys, they were nice. The first guy, though. Jake. He really wanted in my pants. It was a little ridiculous."
"That's... one of the 'types'," Lori said with a nod and a grin.
"I don't like that type."
"Nobody does, except other members of that type."

"He reminded me of my ex girlfriend," Luca muttered, and took Lori's hand. He gave it a squeeze. "I'm glad you knew how to deal with him, Dari. I was worried."
They chatted a while, and then a blonde guy in a bright colored t-shirt tapped Luca on the shoulder. "Hey, do you believe in love at first sight?"
Luca looked to Lori, apparently lost for words.

"What? I apparently didn't deal with it very well, he just went away!" Dari said. He was still beaming from his experience with humanity. "I didn't know what to do, but that was strange for certain."
The chatting continued, and then some man strode up and dropped a line on Luca. Lori just laughed and leaned over. He threw an arm around Luca's shoulders and kissed him hard on the cheekbone.
"Sorry, fella. You're in the wrong movie."

"I'm glad he went away!" Luca said, and then shook a finger at Dari, teasingly. "Don't get involved with people like that, Dari, they're only after one thing."
"Oh, sorry," the guy apologized, looking awkward, and wandered off.
Luca watched him go, shaking his head. "Thank you, love," he said, looking to Lori. He kissed his cheek. "I panicked."

"Oh, I know."
Lori laughed and accepted the cheek kiss. "No problem. Nobody gets to woo my man." He pulled Luca a little closer for a moment and then released him, but kept his arm around him. He was just a little proud to have a boyfriend other random men wanted so badly they'd approach a table full of guys!
Dari shook his head. "People are interesting."
"Yup. That's a good word for it."

Luca smiled at Lori. He was glad to have come; dancing had been fun. "He was probably half drunk," he said, then, looking off in the direction the guy had went. "Dari, are you ready to go home? Do you want another drink first?"
