Batsu cracked open the book to the first page and was immediately greeted with a diagram of the human body. However, it just showed where all the blood flow was. No clothes, no skin, just canals of blood where the boy assumed blood went. It was one of the most complex things he ever saw, so he knew that understanding the anatomy of a human was not going to be an easy task. However, Batsu was definitely up for a challenge, no matter how great it was. The boy was, in fact, intrigued by the diagram. It was so intricate in detail that he wanted to know more about it. But there was something that troubled him. Some of the canals were blue and some were red. What in the hell did this mean? He knew that he had some more of the book to read, but the boy wanted to try and guess before going through the contents and finding the answer. But what could he do? Batsu knew nothing about the circulatory system and the only way he'd find out about it was if he read on. Batsu turned the diagram loose and flipped the page. But as he did, a drop of sweat ended up in his eye. As anyone would know, sweat had more salt and toxins in it than the eye could handle and his eye began burning. Batsu dropped the book like a hot potato and started furiously rubbing the irritated eye. After a few minutes of rubbing, his eye stopped stinging and he was able to pick the book back up again. Now that that ordeal was done, Batsu went back to the book and actually started reading the contents. "The cardiovascular system in the human body is one of the most complex and intricate structures in the world. The system is a large one that consists of arteries, veins, and capillaries that send blood throughout the body along with nutrients and oxygen. The blood is responsible for pumping the said nutrients and precious oxygen to vital organs, such as the brain."
"At the center of the circulatory is the heart, the strongest muscle in the body. The heart's main job is to pump blood through the rest of the body. Another job is to push blood to the lungs to gather oxygen. Together the two work hand in hand and pumps blood through the body over 1,000 times a day. Even more interesting is that 5 to 6 thousand liters of blood go through the heart per day, which is about the size of your fist."Batsu couldn't help but look. The boy balled up his fist and looked at it. How in the hell was it possible for something so small to be so powerful? It was definitely marvelous to behold, but still, it was baffling. He couldn't question what it was, but it was still cool. Batsu picked up the book and went back to reading. He wanted to know more... LOTS more about the circulatory system.
"Arteries are tough, elastic tubes that carry blood away from the heart. As the arteries move away from the heart, they divide into smaller vessels. The largest arteries are about as thick as a thumb. The smallest arteries are thinner than hair. These thinner arteries are called arterioles. Arteries carry bright red blood. The color comes from the oxygen that it carries." It suddenly hit Batsu like a ton of bricks. "That's why some of the channels were red and the others were blue. Well, if arteries are the red ones, what are the blue ones called?"Batsu would find that out later. He was still fixated on how the heart worked and how powerful it was. He didn't want to rip his own heart out and see how it worked. But hopefully he'd be able to do some kind of research to where he could test the ins and outs of the circulatory system. After all, he had Mayumi-sempai as a teacher, and she was the head of the village hospital. Who knows how much he'd be able to learn under her direction? Being a medic definitely had its advantages. He was able to learn about the body and what complex systems made everything work together. The circulatory system was just one of many that he had to learn. God only knew how many more he had to learn. It didn't bother Batsu in the slightest though. This meant more learning for him... and Batsu loved to learn. So he hurried up and picked the book back up so he could dive right into it again. The next part went into veins and started talking about what they were. "Veins receive blood from the capillaries after the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide has taken place. Therefore, the veins transport waste-rich blood back to the lungs and heart. It is important that the waste-rich blood keeps moving in the proper direction and not be allowed to flow backward. This is accomplished by valves that are located inside the veins. The valves are like gates that only allow traffic to move in one direction."This was way too cool. The arteries were the path that oxygen-rich blood took. The blood transported delivered oxygen throughout the body. When that was done, the blood went through the veins to go back through the body and towards the lungs. The blood then picked up more oxygen and the process again.... and at the center of this was the heart, which powered the blood through a person. Such detail... such complexities... such awesomeness! "Since the blood in your veins lack oxygen and are filled with waste, the blood is a maroon color in contrast to the bright red blood that flows through arteries. But be careful! The force of the heart is stronger in arteries than they are in veins. This is the reason why many people who are hit in an artery must be bandaged quickly. Otherwise they can become dizzy or (if hit in a larger artery) can faint. A person can even die if too much blood is lost."Quote: Intelligence DC: 16 Formula: 1d20 + INT [4] 9/10

"The largest artery in the human body is located in the neck. This artery is known as the carotid artery and is by far the most powerful in terms of blood pressure. A major hit to this artery and death is almost certain if medical attention isn't received promptly." Batsu read this and his neck kinda cowered between his shoulders. The boy grabbed his forehead protector and tightly coiled and tied it around his neck. He didn't want to go out in a bloody mess if anything were to happen to him. Batsu was about to close the book but he saw a small flap come out from between the pages . The boy was curious to see what it was about, so he pulled the thing out to see what it was. As luck would have it,, it was another book, but this one was about the skeletal system. This was good new for him, because he needed to read about it for Mayumi-sempai's assignment. ... and since Shinzu wasn't here yet, one more book wouldn't hurt him at all. Speaking of Shinzu, where was the guy? Surely he'd be here by now. Hopefully nothing happened to him. Meh... maybe the boy was still crabwalking his way to the academy? Knowing him, that was the case. Because, unlike him, Shinzu liked to take his time. But then again, Batsu read a whole book and he wasn't here! Batsu wanted to read the book but his friend was still out there. That was it, he had to go check on Shinzu's progress. Batsu stood up and slid the book on the circulatory system back in his bag. However, the boy carried the book on the skeletal system in his hand as he trotted up the steps. After he made his way up, the boy walked through the academy door and peeked around. It looked like the fighting subsided and the Umi were defeated. Good, it made everything safer for him and for Shinzu. That was a big sigh of relief for him and it lessened his fears. Still, Batsu walked off of the academy grounds and went to jump on top of a building. He looked around and saw no sigh of his team mate, so he jumped to an even taller building and tried to spot Shinzu. Sure enough, the boy was still crabwalking from the library. It was refreshing to see Shinzu safe, but jeez, the guy was slow! Oh well, at least it meant that he had more time to read the book. So he sat down and opened the book to the first page. Similar to the first book, there was a diagram of a human body and it showed all the bones withing. But holy crap, there were a lot of bones in the body and it looked like there were names for each one! Batsu loved a challenge, but this one looked like it would be a bit of a doozy. The boy studied the picture for a while and tried his hardest to memorize the names of the bones in the entire body. Eventually that became a bit much and he would periodically forget the names of some of the bones he saw. So Batsu came up with a plan. He decided that he would divide the body into sections and worked on remembering everything that way. Doing so actually turned out well. Before long the boy was retaining the names of bones and what went where. However, he didn't get too cocky. The boy just finished memorizing one portion of the body... the arm. He still had a long way to go. The arm was now knocked out and he started to go down to the chest, stomach, and back. That wasn't too hard since this part of the body had bones that were larger and had names that he could remember, like the ribcage and vertebrae. Still, he knew he had to know the medical terminology associated with each. This way, Mayumi-sempai wouldn't stump him if she decided to use the technical term for whatever. That was easy enough. Batsu finished with the torso of a human and now he could go down to the leg. Right off the bat, Batsu saw that the leg had a lot of different bones and it was easy for anyone to get the names confused. So in a similar fashion than before, Batsu divided the leg up into two parts, the upper and lower half. He decided to work on the upper half first since it had the least amount of bones. It took the boy a few minutes to have them knocked out and he soon went on trying to memorize the lower half of the leg. Still, it took him a lot longer to memorize the bones there as opposed to anywhere else. Hell, the foot alone took Batsu 15 minutes to get the names right. Even so, the boy called himself looking away from the book and he still had an issue naming everything. The poor boy had no choice but to go back to the book and study harder. Before that though, Batsu had to take a break. All that intense reading caused words to jumble in his head and soon nothing made sense anymore. Batsu ended up forgetting what he learned and have to start all over again. What made matters worse, from the looks of it, Shinzu made very little progression, if at any, towards the academy. Jeez, did he have to go down there and drag him to the academy? Quote: Intelligence DC: 16 Formula: 1d20 + INT [4] 5/10

Well for now, Batsu had to focus on himself. The boy went back to studying the book again. Once again, Batsu had to divide the body into sections. This time he decided to work from the ground up. Batsu recently worked on the leg so it was all starting to come back to him again. The boy started rattling off the names of the bones without even stumbling through the pronunciation. The boy was getting back in the groove of things. Now it was time to move up to the upper part of the leg. It was here that Batsu noticed the largest bone the human body... the tibia. Once again. it all came back to him and the boy starting running through the terminology. From that point, Batsu started running the whole leg together and started naming of bones down from the foot up to the pelvis. Before the boy knew it, the boy was rattling off the bones within the midsection. He couldn't complain, it meant that the boy was really pulling through. All he had to do was go through the arm and the head and he was good to go. Just to make things interesting, he decided to close the book before naming the parts of the arm. The boy did just that. He closed the book and pointed to his shoulder. From there he started pointing o parts of the arm and continued naming the bones off. Good for him, he was blazing through everything at immense speed and before you know it, Batsu was able to get down to his fingers and name every bone within. This was just great! Maybe when he reported to Mayumi-sempai, she'd let him go to the banned room without any sort of punishment. Batsu decided to go ahead and check on Shinzu now. So he looked and to his surprise the boy was gone. There wasn't a single trace of Shinzu to be seen anywhere. Batsu stood up and looked all around for the other and saw absolutely nothing. Of course, Batsu thought the worst and ha to jump down from the building he was on. Hopefully nothing happened to the poor boy. Quote: Intelligence DC: 16 Formula: 1d20 + INT [4] 9/10

"Well, maybe Shinzu caught his second wind and he's at the academy now." It was at that moment that Batsu saw the academy doors close. He didn't see who walked in, he just knew someone walked in. It quite possibly was Shinzu, so he started heading back towards the school. Before he went in, though, Batsu stopped and looked at his feet. There was something that the boy needed to do first. Of course, Batsu needed to name all the bones within the human body. So the boy reached up and tapped the top of his head. "Cranium..." he said as he name the skull. One by one the boy started poking each area and naming off the corresponding bone there. It took him a while to name everything, but the boy did so without any hiccups whatsoever. The medic finished his little spill and went back inside of the academy. He was definitely proud of himself for making what initially seemed impossible, possible. Shinzu walked into the Academy smiling broadly, and punched his right hand into his open left. "Ok Batsu, you ready for some real Taijutsu training?" He asked feeling particulary excited at the moment. Hard training tended to have that affect on him, especially after he finished.

Batsu's eyebrow shot up... damn near off his face. Shinzu said it was time for real taijutsu training. So what he did earlier was fake training? He didn't see why. The boy's arms were still in a gelatin-like state, though nowhere near as bad as it was previously. So, Batsu justt looked at Shinzu with a curious expression and nodded slowly. The boy didn't know what to say in all honesty.

Shinzu's own eyebrow came up, as Batsu seemed surprised. "With the mild torture I put you through, you don't want to learn that Taijutsu Style?" Shinzu asked, before shrugging. "I'm going to train over here, talk to me if you need me. Remember, in this style you use your flexibility to gather power." Shinzu said, pulling out his own scroll, and reading the Eight Gates, ok first he had to find the first gate, then open it. Sounded easy enough. So Shinzu sat down and crossed his legs, closing his eyes and practicly meditated, trying to find the first of the gates. Soon Shinzu felt something in the left side of his brain. "Ah" Batsu said as he pulled out the taijutsu scroll. It was quite interesting that the boy and his team mate were both in the process of learning taijutsu techniques. It definitely made for an interesting time. What was more intriguing was now Batsu had a legitimate shot at beating Shinzu in his own game... highly unlikely though. Shinzu was a beast as far as he was concerned.

Batsu realized that his training needed to be put on hold. If he was jumping around doing flips and whatnot then Shinzu might have difficulty doing what he needed to do. This wasn't exactly fair since he was being helped this entire time. So things had to stop... at least temporarily. His training could wait, it wasn't like the fighting style was going away anytime soon in the first place. So Batsu tiptoed his way towards Shinzu and sat.

Shinzu kept focusing, even as he heard Batsu come towards him, he definately thought he'd found something. Yeah, yeah there was definately something there, Shinzu thought as he did the mental equvilent of poking it. Something seemed to be there, at least Shinzu thought so, unless of course he was simply imagining things... He sighed lightly before opening his mouth. "I'm just trying to find something Batsu, feel free to keep training." Shinzu said. Roll (15) + CC (20) + 2= 37 vs 30 Pass

Batsu looked over at Shinzu even though the boy was still concentrating. "No. I think you should have as much focus as possible. If I trained then I might get too into it and throw you off." Batsu grabbed the scroll from in front of Shinzu and started reading. "Besides, it says here that you need to have a dummy or someone to practice this gate thing on. Who better than the speedy genin with the ability to get under your skin? Besides, I need a break anyways."

"Whatever suits you bud." Shinzu said, shrugging as he started to mentally fiddle more with the gate. It was closed, obviously, and he needed to find a way to force it open. Likely it would require pure Chakra and a forceful nature, he wondered what it would feel like with the first gate open. It'd probaly feel incredible, which caused Shinz to grin slightly, anything that made him stronger would be worth it. Roll (15) + CC (20) + 2= 37 vs 30 Pass
