I donated 40 little baby hats to the hospital's "Family Birthplace" department today. PR lady was nice. Everyone fawned all over the hats. The PR lady knits, so she said she could appreciate the quality of the hats. They really really liked the hats made from the variegated Bernat baby Jaquard yarn. Too bad Wal-Mart's not carrying it anymore but I do have some lying around here still. Not tons, but some. They took pictures of me with the hats and pictures of me with the "boss" of the Family Birthplace. Alicia took some with my camera but the angles are awful and make me look fatter than normal and some of them are fuzzy. The PR lady said she'd email me some of the ones SHE took. They were also going to take pictures of one of the hats ON a baby, but the mother seemed to be acting up a bit, so they said it might "take a while" to get the picture, even though they already agreed to it and the dad signed the release. I'll get those pictures later too. There was another baby boy that was leaving to go home. We talked to the family and the head nurse lady let them pick out a hat and put it on him right there. The mom looked at me with a very genuine expression and thanked me so much for making the hats and giving one to her baby.
I have mixed feelings right now. On one hand, it's nice that people liked my handknits. I don't think they were faking it. They seemed genuine. Even mom remarked about that "oh, and they weren't even "fake". In the big scheme of things, donating hats to the hospital for their tiny babies isn't really a super serious deal, but I'm glad I can do it. I'm floating somewhere in between happy and sad. I'm always knitting stuff for other peoples' babies. I just wonder if Brian and I will ever get to be in the Family Birthplace having one of our own or if I'll ever get to make hats and knitted items for our own child. The fact that I'm not ENTIRELY sad is a testament to how my moods have changed and improved over the last several months.
Also, I lost more weight today. As of the doctor's scale this afternoon, I'm down 31 since February. It seems slow...

Just so you know, folks...my mod powers are vast but they don't allow me to instantly recognize you on a mule account. If you put in a join request with no information and I can't tell who you are, I have to turn it down.

Oh, I'm very, very good.
The deal last night was that apparently join requests are broken, because someone put in a RQ that was blank. Of course, I guessed who they were based SOLELY on the username, confirmed their identity over AIM and let them in.
Oh yeah, I'm VERY good.
But still.
Let me know who you are, folks. I get a lot of really lame join requests.

IT'S TOO HOT OUTSIDE. It's not just hot, it's humid. I wish people would take this into account and NOT leave their garbage piled up near the back door. It's an extra thirty ******** feet to the dumpster. Yes I know the squirrels are scary, but if you give the lid a hard thump before you open it, they will scatter and you are free to place your trash in the appropriate receptacle.
Should you not be able to figure this out, I will gladly break into your apartment and strew the trash all over your floors. And I will blame it on our industrious squirrels.

I either a) downloaded a nasty virus that deleted a Windows system file or b) had my hard drive just go bad.
Either way...I'll be beating my head on the wall until I pass out.

I was wondering why you weren't online. Is it sad that I immediately assume something bad has happened to you guys instead of "oh, I bet they just went out to dinner on a Friday night?" sweatdrop
At any rate, hope you can get it sorted out. Sounds horribly frustrating.

Well, he can use my desktop in the meantime, but it's not powerful enough to play his games. Thankfully, nothing else bad is going on down on our end.
Whew! heart
