Who knows the correct translation for Seventh Lightning Shadow....
Like Yondaime = 4th lightning shadow.....
I can't find the correct translation to say seventh.... HELP!

Who knows the correct translation for Seventh Lightning Shadow....
Like Yondaime = 4th lightning shadow.....
I can't find the correct translation to say seventh.... HELP! I'll never get the fascination with using the Japanese names. Why not just call it what it's called in English since you're, you know, roleplaying in English? I get some people think it sounds cooler, but that's generally only because you don't understand the word normally (ie hear it less). To the Japanese I wonder if it's the opposite, like if there's some role player somewhere doing like... a marvel rpg asking what the English name for web canister is or something.

I do get what you mean there dbl. I think its probably because when we watch anime or read manga they don't fully translate everything. Like I'm sure if naruto came to the states and they always said fire shadow we would be saying that too, but since the name won't translate smoothly we keep the terms. But then again its probably best that we do keep names and titles just about the same because once you start translating those its going to get pretty annoying.

I usually do everything in english but there are cases where things just sound cooler in other languages. Not to mention that there are some words that are so much shorter in other languages than in English. In the case of Yondaime The Fourth Leader it does flow better but when you just say Fourth it's just as good. As for the Japanese RP'ers asking for translations I am positive it happens. Consider how in One Piece one villain Crocadile had most of his techniques with French names or in Bleach how almost all the hollow stuff was in spanish. Then of course as a person that reads manga I've seen quite a few where people speak english to show how they are well traveled/ cultured. So really it always comes down to an exotic thing, people want to sound exotic instead of normal so they look for names or titles in other languages.
Shiko in NFS speaks japanese and she finds it hilarious and also aggrivating when people use online translators to put a lot of things in Japanese simple because online translators rarely get things right. It may have the literal meaning but it's rare to find one that is also gramatically accurate.
@ Devil, I can't tell you but Yon means 4 and Shichi means 7.

Hmm see it's still shorter than the english version... I've been making a New profile layout, I'm sure everyone has seen, but it's actually much more neater than my original profile.
Thus shorter names provide that "tighty Clean Look"

Technically it has more syllables than the english form however it works because it happens to have 7 syllables which is quite fitting.

I try to stay away from it, but occasionally, I'll use a word here and there, or attempt to string it together by using a source such as a term from anime or a manga as my mold (in a similair way to the whole shichidaime thing) Oh, and whenever I use a japanese name for a character, I often find a word that means something about the character (considering that japanese names can almost literally come from anywhere), then see if there's anyone who actually has that name. If there is, then I use the name, like Hisaki for example. Supporting that, the 7 tailed demon bug thing is called the Shichibi (bi being the suffix for all of the demon names), so Shichidaime Raikage works i think

Wow it's one of those days, my thoughts:
So Sai and Avalon are used to it being on top and find it to be awkward on the bottom. Some how that just seems like a perfect design for comedic double entendres.
