Just because they don't have the courage to. Stephen King writes excellent books, but he's a horrible directer. The Dark Tower series is so long, it would take me a year even with my reading time. All we need is James Cameron to direct "Stephen King's Dark Towers" and you'd have a cult following of all those who read S.K.'s novels.

I haven't read enough of stephen king. I'm limited on the amount of books I can buy at once. =A= within certain time periods. Because they'll distract me from studies oh mai.

Dark Towers is still pretty expensive even if it's 10 years old, but it is a Hardback book that rivals some textbook widths. You go to an 'used book' store (We have a few around here), or hunt some down in an antique shop(I find the best political books there..no books written by Hitler..I'm not surprised.) and you could find some for prolly $5.00, with notes in it already. They usually have a huge children's section with a number of books like Huckleberry Finn.

Wait, they do or don't have Hitler books? My sister said that Hitler got his "let's kill all the Jews" idea from a book...Is this true?
As for Huck Finn; I saw the movie and it didn't spark any interest in the book for me. sweatdrop

EejitFeckles - partially influenced by Darwinism, which they twisted and turned into socialist darwinism? you know, survival of the fittest so Ayrans must be superior kind of thing? lots of racism originates there. He writes about his anti-Jew views in his book Mein Kampf
Hukk Finn. I suppose I like him better than Tom Sawyer? blah, I need to reread the classics.

They used to sell Mein Kampf in bookstores (even at U.S. military bases) until a few years ago, actually...but nope, not anymore. I think this guy in one of my classes has a copy...

Hitler may have taken a few ideas (nothing was original anymore, even back then.), but he wrote "Mein Kamph" a book while he was in prison. It's a banned book (much like the "the little Red book") that you need to special order to obtain through bookstores. You won't find one in antique shops just because it was troublesome to obtain for one thing. Another, it may not even be produced in the coming years. They stop printing when no one recognizes a title any longer (in this case because it was deemed a threat; what better way to create an ignorant populace..) to save money.
Huck Finn was censored in the later versions I think, but the book is great by itself. It's still set a 6th grade level, but the protected American public isn't going to see all those things that create stereotypes and bad habits in movies. The book goes all out there. I enjoyed it myself.

Wow, y'all read Huck Finn in 6th grade. I read The Little Prince and...other crap. stare We don't even learn about the Holocaust...unless it's taught in 11th or 12th grade, in which case, I missed, 'cause that's when I moved to MA. xD But growing up, I didn't know anything about it, except the Germans killed the Jews. Then in school I learned that they tortured them, experimented on them--and not just Jews! gonk

I was kind of reading... gruesome Holocaust stuff at a young age. Read Night in 5th or 6th. :l Because sister said I wasn't mature enough to handle it LOL NOTHING'S TOO MATURE FOR ME. -shot-
