When you actually start with them you will quickly want to abandon them... you will notice the uselessness of the Champion in moments, he cannot withstand a beating and cannot return his points in a fight... he is a waste of 100-140 points... (based on vow taken) and is mandatory in 750+ games. The good thing i have to say about them is that the one and only troop choice they have is quite effective and that when used porperly they can reek major havoc.

And the Anti-Tank is a joke to them... you almost never have armor back up and are always getting mowed down by Imperial Guard Tank battalions....

Every time that I've fought an Emperor's Champion, he's not been sent against other Characters. Instead, he's been used alongside Initiate squads as close support against other squad leader selections to knock out power weapon attacks that would otherwise cripple a squad.

Also, the vow that allows them Preferred Enemy has been completely worth it from what I've seen. Sword Brethren Terminators used with close support from Initiate squads to lay out pelting of their own. Then Templar dreads become even scarier against infantry.

No list in the game is a failure. The list only fails if their commander fails.

i do give credit to that one vow... but the rest are kinda faulty at best... and Dreadnoughts are great except when all 3 are stopped by ordnance hits from Basilisks that leave 2 as flaming wrecks and 1 immobilized in the deployment zone.

Which can happen to any and all armored vehicles. Don't like Dreads? Don't take Dreads. Templars can take Raiders and Predators, too.

Aye, if your whole army dies on turn one it doesn't mean they're bad, it just means you got screwed.

Blackened Heart Sucubi
when did i say speez puppies? but yes Speez Puppies are the best choice for what you want...

Blood Angels = Fail
Black Templar = Epic Fail
Dark Angels = Epicer fail

now i say this, not flaming, because i have used these three and quite frankly i was very very disappointed in them.

The "Horus Heresy in a nutshell" story you posted... ^^"

Horus: Oh noes, the space puppies are coming!
Abaddon: and the ultramarines my lord.
Horus Who?

No matter what army you play,
no matter what kind of list you have,
no matter how skillfull the player is,
they all come down to one basic thing;
Those damn dices!

Dark Angels are actually quite good...
My friends dad has a hundred Death wing terminators, half of them Assault Squads, and half the Raven Wing, and they are incredibly nasty, then can destroy any army matching their points, they even owned half a dozen stompers.

deathwing and ravenwing give dark angels bad name due to high point cost of models making them vulnerable to even few failed saves...
ravenwing with the scout move actually can charge IG in first turn with meltaguns fired, and meltabombs on the charge making for lots of destroyed tanks and general mayhem.
