Amalirahc nodded slowly, but he made sure that Miyuki was the first one to enter the library - just in case someone asked.

Once they were both in, he looked around, trying to see if he could spot River. The library was quite large - bigger than either the library in Tor Karad or Chansond'eau, quite possibly the size of both of those libraries put together. The number of books was certainly that much: young as the country was, Lothiriel had made a point of collecting as many books as she possibly could for their library. Row after row after row of books filled the room, and only at the far end was there a space with pillows for reading, and a single desk for writing. Just beyond that area, however, there was a series of doors, most of them open, that led to smaller study rooms, with large tables for working at, miniature bookshelves for books that were in use by that particular person, and a supply of paper, quills and ink.

Of the doors that were open, only one of the rooms was occupied: Lalwen, sitting alone, was copying something out of a book; but of the doors that were closed, there was a light coming from under one of them.

"Come on," Miyuki motioned to Amalirahc.

They were going to have to search the whole library, there was no one anyone could tell just by glancing inside who was in here or not. Not that Miyuki was surprised really.

"She could be in here somewhere."

"Well it's so big!" Amalirahc exclaimed.

Thank you Captain Obvious.

"How are we even gonna know where to look?" He started down the main aisle of the library, looking down the rows of books as he passed them. "It's huge in here! Like - like - like the Tor Karad library two times over!"

How were they ever going to find anyone in there?

Miyuki blinked and gave Amalirahc an odd look not because he was stating the obvious but because Amalirahc said he had checked the library for River.

"Well there should be places for people to study and read, so I guess we'll look there first. I'm sure by now she must have picked out a book if she is in here at all."

Amalirahc brightened. "Oh, there's rooms like that on the far side of the library! Come on, this way!"

He took Miyuki's hand and tugged her forward, breaking into a brisk trot (he was aware that she didn't like it that he ran all the time).

Miyuki had to make long quick strides to keep up seeing as Amalarihc was taller than her and therefore covering more ground than she was. So many he had been in here before?

He was so confusing sometimes.

It took them a minute to reach the opposite end of the library, even at their quick pace, and Amalirahc quickly pointed out the room with the open door.

"There's Princess Lalwen," he beamed. But then his face fell. "Wait ... we're not looking for her, we're looking for River, right?"

"Yea," Miyuki nodded.

The other doors were closed, though there was light coming out from under one of them. She wondered who was behind that door.

"I think there is someone behind that one," she pointed, "But I don't know who."

"Let's go see!" Amalirahc said brightly, letting go of Miyuki's hand and running towards the door with the light. He came to a sudden stop, almost as if he had run into an invisible wall, and turned back to look at her. "Um ... should we knock?"

He was clearly remembering the talk he'd gotten downstairs.

"Yes, the person might be studying," Miyuki replied.

Well, she didn't know for certain but sometimes it helped if one gave Amalirahc and excuse to remember his manners.

"Okay." Amalirahc nodded in understanding and knocked on the door before opening it. "Hey, is Riv-" He broke off and blinked. "Oh. There you are!"

River was sitting in the chair in the room, and across the table from her Maeglin was also sitting. The two seemed to be in the middle of a conversation, which stopped when Amalirahc opened the door on them so suddenly.

River and Maeglin both stared at Amalirahc, until River caught sight of Miyuki behind him. She smiled. "Oh, hello. Finished exploring?"

Miyuki facepalmed herself in aggravation, she was so going to have to teach her friend how to properly knock on doors.

"Yessss...." Miyuki drawled out, "At least for now."

She looked up at the girls and smiled sheepishly.

Maeglin looked at Miyuki pityingly. She understood the girl's frustration.

River giggled softly. "So instead of just exploring, you decided to come looking for me," she grinned. "I have to admit, I'm curious as to why."

Her violet eyes sparkled brightly with amusement, though whether that was because of Amalirahc's antics or because of Miyuki's response to them was questionable.

"We were wondering if you wanted to play a game with us. We still hadn't really checked out the box of toys that Wren let us have from the tree house," Miyuki explained.

Really, also they needed to do something together seeing as Amalirahc got bored and he couldn't be left by himself.

River's eyes flickered back and forth between Miyuki and Maeglin several times as she hesitated to give an answer. She had been in a conversation with Maeglin, after all, and she wanted to continue that conversation ... on the other hand, her friends had clearly been searching for her in particular, and she didn't want to let them down.

Besides that, Amalirahc looked like he might cry if she said no.

She looked at Maeglin to apologize for leaving her, but before she could say anything, the princess smiled. "Don't worry about me. I'll simply catch up on my report. We will speak again later, yes?"

River smiled back at her. "Thank you." She rose from her seat and turned towards Amalirahc and Miyuki. "So where are we going to play?" she asked them warmly.
