Haha not even close, but I'm taking courses in it.
Lemme see if I can explain; I'm going for a BA (Bachelor of Arts) that I need to meet certain criteria. This criteria (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is usually some specific courses (like I have to take 9 credit hours in English) and have a major & a minor, or a double major.
A major is when you've take 36 credit hours of courses in a specific field. So I'd need to take 36 credit hours in history. Each course is worth 3 credit hours usually, and so that means that I have to take 12 history courses (divided into 4 years, 2 semesters each year).
A minor is the exact same thing on you need 24 credit hours in a certain subject in order to get your minor.
Then an education degree is completely seperate and in order to get that I need to meet certain criteria. Meaning that I have to have taken certain courses and I need to have "two teachable subjects". Meaning that I have to have a major and a minor (or a double major) in two subjects that I can teach. Unfortunitally most of what I want to minor in would continue to be counted as "history" and wouldn't be considered a second "teachable" subject. Whereas something like French, which is a completely different subject would be.

Or you want to learn enough, so that you'd be able to teach people, but you're learning for a different purpose?

I want to be a teacher.
Well that's not quite true. I want to be an archeaologist, or an anthropologist specializing in either classical or medieval history - however there isn't much call for them. XD It's not great with the job opportunities. So instead I'm going to teach history.

My sister's 28, and finally, she and her husband both got music teaching jobs after working really, really hard. 3nodding They even got their own apartment, recently!

That's awesome! Music would be a cool thing to teach. Art would be a really fun subject to teach as well.
I'm lucky, when I get out of university there should be a lot of openings for teaching jobs all around Canada. Plus I also plan on going to other countries and teaching there as well. I want to go to one of the poorer countries in Africa and teach there for a couple of years (in which having French would be beneficial since a lot of countries in Africa have French as their first language.)

Yay! Helping people's always a good thing. ^ ^ I didn't know African countries spoke in French, though... hmm...
I have no idea about French, but I'm good at English since it's the only language I speak, but I'm always scared of pronouncing words. (Subject change for no reason) I just learned in my Heath book that "placebo" is pronounced pluh-SEE-boh and not place-boe. And my teacher was reading something, and then I learned how Nova Scotia was pronounced, and... jeesh! Everything should be spelt how it's pronounced, like that chef "Boyardee" guy did for the Americans.

Haha I think "placebo" has gotten everyone, at some point in history. I pronounced it the exact same way, when I was your age actually. The only reason I know how to pronounce it today is because I like the band "Placebo" and someone told me off for pronouncing the name wrong. XD
Not all African countries speak French, but quite a few do. Some are actually English as well (I have a friend who lives in residence with me who is from Zimbabwe and her first language is English).
Nova Scotia is pronounced differently by Nova Scotians than by most people because apparently we have an accent. Like for instance I pronounce "Newfoundland" "New-finn-lind"

I never pronounced placebo at all, I just read you or someone else say it before and my mind pronounced it. I read "Newfoundland" as "New-fun-land," and the "land" is changed to "lend." And I always had an idea that I was pronouncing Nova Scotia wrong in my head, because "Nova Scot-ee-uh" sounded kind of weird. ^ ^ So now I read it "Nova Sko-shuh" like my teacher and brother said it.
I always thought Australians and Europeans had accents, but my mom proposes that it was the Americans who messed English up but saying words differently. And then one Australian said that Americans have weird accents... it's kind of neat!
