Generally its like, people who make anime or manga try and emulate white people because they have weird issues with wanting to be white.
So... white people being their characters is the natural progression of things, minus the outfits/hair that Japanese people have a monopoly on.
A lot of main characters though, can obviously be done by white people.

White Guys. With other white guys helping them. Not Asian people wanting to be white.
The characters were all of different ethnicities which was a major part of the show. So I think having them white out the cast is poop.
Also I wouldn't touch that DBZ movie with a pole. D; To clarify. I only watched the anime 'cause my brother would have it on in the background when I was in the same room. And it was just dudes looking constipated and screaming at each other for 30 minutes. I was unimpressed.
