"My name's Agent Aikley," Toby corrected. This kid had not yet earned the right to know anyone on a first-name basis, "and there are processes for the first day. You're going to have to do all of them. You're mine and my partner's case, but unfortunately we have more than just you to deal with. So do you want to see your apartment or meet Agent Yraudhen? Or are you hungry?"

"Hm," the kelpie said, seeming to take in Toby's name, before saying, "No, I like Agent Werewolf." Processes? "What else are you guys busy with?" he asked, curiously. "I'm always hungry. I guess that comes with this form," he looked down at himself.

"I don't think it should. You can talk to Agent Yraudhen about that. He'd know more than me. If that's true, there are ways to settle your stomach so you don't have to live hungry," Toby said, "We have other cases to work is all. My partner's pulling both of our work for the moment. So what would you like to do, hm?" Toby had all day with the Kelpie if he needed it.

"Okay. I'll ask Agent Impossiblename about it," the kelpie agreed. "What cases?" he asked, after a moment. "What are you working on? C'mon. I've never left my lake, it's not like I'll know what you're talking about."
"Want to have lunch? Where's your black friend?"

"I can't tell you about other active cases, but there is a fileset I can show you about past cases." Not that anyone ever really aged out. They always kept in touch in some way. t was more just declassified files.
"Sure, if you want. My partner's working, like I said."

"Have you ever had a kelpie before?" it seemed the kelpie was genuinely interested. He was definitely curious. "Can you? Unseelies? They're more fun. I've not really had the chance to meet one, though. You know, just appearing in the middle of small town Oregon wasn't my idea of a good time."

"We have, yeah, sure. After lunch," Toby nodded, taking his sunglasses off finally and clipping them into his jacket pocket. He nodded for the kelpie to follow and headed for the cafeteria. They'd never had a particularly friendly kelpie, but that kind of came with the subspecies.
"There's nothing out here, but you'll be able to go out into town. I think you'll like it a lot better."

The kelpie followed Toby to the cafeteria. He almost smiled. "Really? When can I go see? I'd like to see what's all in town."
"Why were you wearing sunglasses inside? Do all agents do that?"

"Soon," Toby said with a nod, "We'll just go over some ground rules and we can go out." Who was 'we'? Well, it depended. The kelpie seemed to like him, so it might be Toby and Dari or even Maia.
"Huh? Oh, no. We're supposed to outside in general when we're in uniform. It's just habit. I'm able to see well through them regardless. It's like night-vision."

"Great!" They could out, maybe he could get something for his new game system. A new game, maybe some decals--something. "Do I have to get a job?" he asked. How would he have money?
"Oh, I see. Like I can see underwater." He nodded in understanding. "Do you want pizza too?"

"Not right away, no. It can be hard for an entity to get a job, and it can be even harder for a teenager to find a job. You'll need an identity first, some basic skills, maybe you can get one in a while. Until then the Bureau will give you a monthly stipend to keep you afloat." He held the cafeteria door open for the kelpie.
"No. I'll get something, though." He'd bring something back for Dari too. He loved to eat things in his human form, it didn't matter what it was.

The kelpie nodded; the agent was right. He didn't have a proper name, even, let alone an age or any of those identifying numbers. He entered the cafeteria.
"What will you get?" he asked.

"Uh. I'm not sure." Maybe just something for Dari. Being here made him reconsider his agreement to eat. The stuff the residents got was better. Where was the fairness in that?
After lunch, Toby went with the kelpie to Records and got the digital file to show him the other Unseelies they'd dealt with. Only a few had chosen to integrate. After that and the near endless onslaught of questions Toby led the kelpie to Lori's office. The generally friendly elf looked up and offered a smile, but no more than that. He held out his hand to shake.
"Hello. I'm Agent Yraudhen."

The kelpie didn't take Lori's hand, and instead stared at the elf. He looked back towards Toby, frowning slightly. "Hello," he said, not looking towards the elf. "You have an impossible name. I prefer Agent Werewolf, what can I call you instead?" He studied Lori for a moment. "You're supposed to teach me how to be human. But you aren't human."

Ah. Lori had been expected that. He just took his hand back while Toby made awkward eye contact with the kelpie.
"Agent Y is fine. Most people just call me 'Lori.'"
Toby gave the elf a look. First-name basis? Really? Maybe it'd make the kelpie like him more.
"I'm not, but I'm of the closest supernatural race to humans. Besides, I've been living with humanity for longer than you've been alive."
