Dagoth DeSeer Vice Captain
|
Posted: Fri Nov 07, 2008 3:57 pm
"I'll kill him when it's his time then."
Dagoth winked at Reinholdt with a sly smirk, he moved to the place Bailey pointed at and kneeled down. He watched the room stare at him whispering amongst themselves, he caught words of his name and his brother Corbin it seemed as if he had left an impression on this place. Dagoth grinned one again and waited silently, his hybrid eyes burning through people as he took in this strange crowd of kindred, kine and others. An intresting place this Fang, very intresting.

*The Fang's layout was very simple, and very old. It was based around its key feature - the large pit sunk into the floor in the middle of the main room. Around it, railings on the main floor kept the crowd from falling in, several seats bolted to the floor at key points for the main players to seat themselves to watch their champions fight. It stank of blood, guts, gore, but MOST of all... of violence. The echoes of it resonated from the walls, leaked from the dusty floor of the pit below, soaked up through the floor boards. It was a place of primeval need and instinct, a temple to the fight or flight core in everyone. Beneath the floor, facing into the pit, cells lined a long underground passage, dark and dismal, the slave cells for those that would fight, the smallest cages opening directly into the pit itself, allowing attendants to force competitors out into the arena when necessary. This place too stank, but more of suffering, the two feelings overlapping in the arena itself, where only fear and pain ruled.
A bar ran along the back wall, Bailey's throne slightly elevated so he could see into the pit from his location further back than the spectator chairs. People were everywhere, music an undercurrent in the background, not the main attraction like most clubs. And YES, everyone was talking. Conversation buzzed around the room, enough pairs of eyes turning to Dagoth, staring as whispers moved form ear to ear, tales of the supposed deeds of the warmonger clan growing in magnitude, the debacuhery of the Heir General spoken of, and his achievements in the ring, followed by reminiscenses from the older Cainites about Roan's time... and inevitably, speculaton about what Dagoth would achieve. He had a lot to live up to, but Bailey had NO doubt he would do his name proud, make his own path in this tournament. Smirking as he settled into his seat, Bailey was very quickly beset with questions, demands, anger, suprise, derision... the works.*
You cant have another one of them fight here! Wasnt last time enough? Yeah, the last one you guys brought here was a menace to anything that moved and you let him LEAVE. What foul precedants will THIS one set? We DO have standards you know... That clan should have been dissolved years ago. Unstable, uneeded and reckless to a man. You lot are just moaning because you know NOTHING you put forward can stand up to him. To ANY DeSeer. Like ********! THIS one is only here because he hasnt become one of their 'Generals' yet. Oh? So you saw the last tournament then? No... Then shut your mouth. He'll destroy everything. Hardly makes for good betting odds then... Then only bet on the matches he isnt in, p***y. There's always good money on the line betting against any of these guys. Surely you dont believe all the crap you hear about these guys? Its all bullshit. Cainites cant do HALF of what they do - its tall stories. You really WERENT here last time then... Dont need to be. Its all crap. Then bet against him Fine. I will.
*And so it went on, Bailey just smiling and nodding, listening and not rising to the bait. His words werent needed - they were resolving Dagoth's right ot be there by themselves. He did lean over to talk to Dag however*
Your name is known. It is your badge, your honour, your kinship. All of you who claim consangunity with Roan are unusual, above even the Cainite norm. You can do with ease what these others cannot. You walk the daylight, you eat food, you burn with the presence of entities beyond their ken. You and feared and revered for all you have done, carrying the deeds your kin carried out also. Everything ANY DeSeer has achieved, is YOUr accomplishment. Anything you achieve here will add to THEIR accomplishments. Its a big name to live up to. I have faith in you, I will thus protect your honour where I can, but you will not recieve such care in the ring. Your enemies will not just be challengers - each of them will have VERY good reason to HATE you.
Plus... IM counting on you.
*The crowd parted again, falling back with even faster fear as Roan strode down the aisle, her swagger pronounced, menace almost physical, her smirk firmly in place. It hurt to see Dagoth at Bailey;s side, as submissive as Corbin had had ot be to Ice, but she hid it better this time, her ruby eyes flashing to BAiley. When her gaze moved... Dagoth would surely feel the change within Roan. The coldness. The fele of something... missing. He would not know what had happened to Corbin in his absence, now would not be the time to tell him... but he would no doubt sense a change. Woth Roan, Daegonna nd Graymalkis, invited along by Roan herself*
Ah. Vengeance. Even earlier this time.

Daegonna stood beside and slightly behind Roan. Her long tail flicked from side to side, but her face was calm. She was sucking on a lollypop, and her other hand gripped the leash of Graymalkis, who stood beside her, at full size. His head was nearly at shoulder level to the petite girl, but it was clear that she was in control. Daegonna wore a black dress with a short, flared and lace-trimmed skirt and a vaguely victorian-style bodice; high collared, button down, with white ruffled lace running down the front, and cuffing her arms just above the elbows, where the sleeves flared out. She wore black and white stockings, and heavy black boots, which had a liberal coating of mud and old blood on them. Her curly red hair was done up in pigtails tied with black bows, and her bangs kept back from her pale, heartshaped face by a set of white crystal barrettes. She'd taken out four of her six earrings, and now only wore little white crystal studs in her earlobes. Her nosering had also been removed.
The girl's thoughtful gaze shifted from Bailey, to Ice, and finally to Dagoth. She didn't smile, or blink. She didn't look at him terribly long. The flighty child's attention quickly shifted to those who had previously surrounded the Anon twins, those who had pitched such a fit about the DeSeer's presence. She didn't seem interested by them either, because again, she turned her attention back to the Anon twins. Her gaze was cautious. Curious, thoughtful, but cautious.

Dagoth listened and he watched, Bailey would feel the urge within him to just reach out and pull the head off the first one to doubt him. He would also feel the ease at which Dagoth resisted it, he simply stared at the pit until Bailey lent down to him. His attention quickly snapped back at his master nodding with his words, his voice as soft as silk.
"They will learn that I am a different creature, efficient and poetic in my killing I do shock and awe. But I much prefer a style to my killing, they will learn."
Dagoth didn't look up at Roan or Dae, he simply stared at his master then at the pit. He hadn't been told to ingage or talk to them so he didn't his mind focusing on the tasks to come. He ran thousands of fights through his head, remembering millions of punches, kicks and throws. His fangs felt razor sharp in his mouth, his fingers gripped his knees as he knelt there waiting.

Poetic... yes... I rather think you are.
*Roan's face didnt flicker, not as Bailey spoke, not as Dagoth;s gaze remained on him. But CAINE did it hurt, deep within her mind. She hate dthe fact he had leanred that look of obediance, hated it was turned on Bailey, hated that for the fun he woudl have in the pit, he had suffered to get to this point. She hated Bailey just as much as she;d hated Ice, controling her growl of rage and frustration with remarkable ease, yet still... it shoen in her eyes. Bailey wisely deflected her ire however*
My my my.... you've changed Vengeance... You could say that. You actually did it. What a suprise. Ice? Leave us. Hmm? what? Leave. Now. No way! DO it. This is MY show this time. ... fine.
*Bailey held Roan's gaze, defying her to say a word until Ice had gone*
He did not think it possible. He did nto think you would EVER give up iyour heart, or that his passion would accept it.He thinks he has a greater hold on Corbin than I do. Yes. Precisely. He doesnt. Just as I WILL reclaim Dagoth. He will be returned to you in time, but nothing will alter the mistrust you fostered between you, Vengeance. Fine. He will return to his SISTER then. He will NOT be yours forever. I WILL return him. You know this. Doesnt mean I have to like it... Indeed.
*Bailey's warm eyes barely flickered as he talked with her, but their conversationw as interuptted*
Lady DeSeer... what a shock. Of course you are involved in this, once again. Ah, Reinholdt. So good to see you. Still trying to prove Im NOT a warm loving eccentric charity hostess? You're a bloodsucking fiend who needs to die. Been there, done that. Who are you throwing at my childer this time? THat is for me to know, but let us say I believe I have a better edge this time. I will bet you 80,000 my new champion will beat Fear's. Your son. Thats twice our bet for Corbin... sure you can raise that kind of capital? The paper is doing well, but I do not expect to lose. This one does not have the fearmonger reputation of your last. No. Thats because HE doesnt need it. He's as strong as Corbin, just as deadly... maybe worse, because he has no need to show off. You'll be a fool to underestimate ANY of my blood. I told you... I have and advantage. Do you accept? Sure. 80,000.
*The two shook on it, then Roan stepped aside, going to the bar to get a drink. Reinholdt focused on Daegonna, and her pet*
And just who are you and who let that beast in here?

Daegonna stood, silent and as polite as she could manage, as they talked. Inside, she wanted to scream, and cry, and run to her brother and throw her arms around him. The indignance of being made to kneel at Bailey's feet made her seethe. But she hid it well. No clenched jaw, no pounding heart, no twitch of a muscle gave her away. Roan's certainty in Dagoth was the only thing she could take any semblance of cheer from, though cheer was not quite the word.
A voice broke into her thoughts. Daegonna looked up at the man who had spoken, and gave him a dazzling smile. "My name is Daegonna Da'Shae." She said politely, and to those who knew her, a bit too sweetly. Now that she'd slaughtered the entire DaShae House, it didn't feel terribly awkward to use her name. "This," she laid her hand on the slavering hound's massive head, "Is Graymalkis." The purple haze of raw energy that hung around her had been rather less visible, until that point. When Daegonna spoke, her low, sweet voice seemed to make her glow. "Graymalkis accompanies me everywhere. In a place like this, a loyal pet can mean everything. And as to who let him in...Well, nobody saw fit to try and take him from me when I walked in. No need to worry. He's on a tight leash, and I've promised to play nice." Her smile was a little on the impish side now, and her tone was a little glib. A dog the size of Graymalkis could pull a grown man off his feet with no trouble. Daegonna was barely over five feet tall. The casual way she spoke, the cute girlish smile, and the loose way she held the leash made it clear that she was not concerned about Graymalkis being a bad puppy. Daegonna petted Graymalkis, and the terrifying black hound wagged his tail like any dog would. His breath reeked of blood, and his fangs glistened in the dark. His crimson gaze was fixed on the stranger. It was the expression of a predator that could kill, if motivated, but at the moment, he was more interested in Daegonna's attention. The half-Daemon looked back up at the stranger. She looked him up and down, then gave him another smile as sweet as poisoned honey. He wouldn't know how hard it was to fake it. He probably wouldn't even realize she was faking it. For all he knew, she was just a painfully friendly little monster. "And you, Monsieur?" She asked, putting on a very convincing act of pretending she cared who the man was. Either that or she was gaging his reactions, gathering what information she could, and storing it away for future use.

Dagoth just sat there he knew who was around him but he couldn't go to them, he wouldn't move from his spot he simply knelt there waiting his turn. He looked at the pit sizing it's width and depth, guessing what would be his first challenge and who would give it. He smirked at the talk of bets and him winning or loosing, Dagoth enjoyed the fact he was a complete unknown here most people would expect a Corbin like showing or just a complete let down. He couldn't wait to finally fight.

Daegonna? Where have I heard that name before?
*the man mused quietly to himself, but was distracted by the form of Graymalkis, wrinkling his nose in disgust before simply walking away, tossing a card at her over his shoulder*
Reece Reinholdt. I own the Durem Express.
*It was said with all the hautyness of a blue blood, the man vanishing into the crowd.
The rest of the night would be spent with Dagoth's presence being fought over by the Fang members. No fights tonight. That didnt mean however the roster wasnt going ot be drawn up. It was displayed on a massive board over the pit, this a FULL blown tournament. 32 initial contestants, various clans and tribes represented, each round's victor going on to fight the victor of the subsequent fight. Reinholdts new champion was listed as the fourth contender, his name put up simply as 'Reinholdt Entrant'. Dagoth was listed as number 22. There would be two fights per night, meaning tomorrow night, Dagoth woudl see Reinholdts champion in action, while the hype continued to build, and the betting increase. Already, odds were displayed on the second portion of the main board for Dagoth and this unknown man, Roan and Reinhooldt's bods in the screen.*

Daegonna's eyebrow rose a bit when Reindholdt recognized her name. He must be keeping track of a lot of information to know her name. The name that had stuck with him was 'Daegonna,' not 'Da'Shae.' That was a rather curious thing. She was almost always recognized as the b*****d Sorceress of the DaShaes rather than Daegonna. Daegonna was the name generally associated with the pet of the DeSeers, and that wasn't quite such common knowledge. His introduction answered a few questions, but provided more. Daegonna did not catch the card. She didn't bend down to pick it up. At first she meant to leave it there. Then she smiled, and knelt to pick the card up. She held it by the edges, and looked it over. The card was signed Reece Edgar Charlton Reinholdt the 2nd Daegonna's smile was a bit too cheery now. She slipped the card into her blouse, keeping it close to her heart. Then she skipped off to join Roan, not bothering to hide her girlish glee.

Whatever you're up to, try and behave while you're here. A lot of my contemporaries will come when they hear one of mine is in the pit again, and so soon after the first. Remember your station and what you represent. Most will consider you part of my entourage.
*She looked down at Daegonna, and her smile was gentle.*
What do you want to drink? And are you ok?
*She knew seeing Dagoth fail to even look at her woudl have hurt Daegonna, that the harsh reality of what she had warned would now be sinking in for real. There was a real chance Dagoth COULD die here, and that neither Roan nor Daegonna would be able to stop it. Only Dagoth could secure his fate within these walls and in this... Roan was as helpless as Daegonna, with no say in proceedings*

Daegonna pouted like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar. "I don't like him." She said simply. She stuck her lollypop back in her mouth, and was silent for a moment. "I promised I'd behave." She added. Roan's smile somehow made Daegonna's heart sink. It meant that Roan felt her pain. It meant that things were going to continue downhill, and that Daegonna's helplessness was not going to change. Daegonna wasn't reassured. "I don't want a drink." Daegonna said softly. She didn't answer the second question. A silence stretched between them, Daegonna's inner anguish making it seem ages longer than it was. Outside, she looked like a distracted child, watching the people around her come and go. Dagoth would have known her pain, if he looked her way. Roan probably could see it too.

*She knew. On the inside... she knew all to well. The ony way she showed it though was to briefly drop a hand to Dae's shoulder, squeezing slightly, then she walked past her and over to the pit, leaning on the rail as she looked up at the board, seeking and lighting a smoke as she ran her eyes down the lists*

Dagoth only took notice of one thing during the hustle and commotion of the fights being listed, the pompous man's fighter would go before him. He smirked and looked towards Bailey, nodding his head to his new master before speaking softly that only he could hear it. Dagoth was still getting used to biting his tongue and asking to do and for things.
"Master may I speak to Reinholdt's fighter after his fight? Don't worry I won't break any rules or spoil the history of this place."
Dagoth smirked once again his mind grinning with glee and joy at the thoughts racing through him, the mind games he could play, how much he could learn about this fighter and just winding Reinholdt up just a bit more.

That will be in Reinholdt's hands. I have no sway over his champion, who will be kept below I have no doubt. However, that does not mean that any night you're left here alone you might not, accidentally... make contact. I'll not forbid it - the wise warrior starts his battles before any blade is ever drawn. You know well the perview of the mind, and I would be ill suited to deny you every weapon in what is to come. With that in mind... do not turn down the strength others offer your mind. You have permission to recognise the family that come to see you. Assauge at least the Lady DeSeer's fears for your mental state, I would not like to see her OR your delectable sister become unduly... stressed. Lady Roan tends to cause a lot of mess when strained.
*Bailey never looked at Dagoth, his eyes constanly scanning the crowds that moved around him, finally resting on Roan's slender back, a slight 'hmph' echoing down his nostrils as she turned and headed back towards them*
Sort me a seat for every fight. I... What is it? I think if I tell you its against the rules. It most certainly is, Lady Roan. I should have known you'd know. But it would be to my disadvantage if you told. Reinholdt. Your a total a*****e, and I will PERSONALLY gut you ater this is over. Hmm? She has worked out who I have entered. The rules however.... mean she cannot tell you. I see. How unique. Dagoth will beat seven kinds of s**t out of him. Thats all you need know Bailey. Well of course. My pet serves me well. ...
*You could HEAR Roan's teeth grinding, her gaze flickering to Dagoth, fists clenched at her sides*

"You see I knew it would be an interesting champion, only someone of high calibre would get a response like that."
Dagoth had heard what bailey had said and the instant he was allowed to move freely, Dagoth appeared next to his sister his hand placed gently on her shoulder. He gave the girl a squeeze before moving to hug the smaller woman, he smiled towards Roan giving her a playful wink. He expected a very angry and worried Dae, and a equally as conflicted Roan. Dagoth turned to Reinholdt and gave him a slight bow, still wearing that sadistic grin as he spoke.
"Mr Reinholdt the pleasure is all mine I assume, there has been one thing that interested me in your little conversations with Roan and Bailey. What is it about you that stops them from just popping your head off like a pez dispenser?"
