Kana jumped in alarm as well, ears flattening against her head and her eyes widening. She looked around rapidly in all directions, including up and down, as if thinking something was about to attack. She'd been attacked enough that she was a little paranoid now. But when she saw nothing, she fixed the girl with a blank stare, for just a moment, before she grinned broadly again. "Yep!" she cried, and then held out a pale, clawed hand towards the girl. "I'm Kana Oshiru. Nice to meet you!"
To be honest, despite her strangely happy personality, Kana had been feeling a little down lately. Ever since leaving Ria, she hadn't seen any of her friends from before and she'd been feeling a little lonely. However, she was hoping that'd now change, as she positively beamed at this girl in front of her.

Luthien felt slightly embarrased for making Kana, as she had introduced herself as, become alarmed. "I-I'm Luthien. It's nice to meet you too" she said shyly as she slowly extended her hand toward Kana's.
Luthien was a very shy girl, and this was why she always had a hard time making friends. Most people thought she was self-centered, stuck up and that she thought of herself as better than everyone else just because she didn't talk much, but all of that was untrue, she was just simply very shy.
She'd been working toward being more outgoing and talkative, but found it was easier said than actually done. She hoped the chance she had now would allow her to make a better start at overcomeing her old ways.

"Heehee~" Kana grinned, shaking the girl's hand warmly. Then she drew back her hand and looked around again, before letting her gaze focus upon the flowers before her. "...I don't know what they're called," she said suddenly, a blank stare upon her face as if she'd just now realized it as true. Sure, she liked flowers, but she didn't know their names. "...does it start with an "L"?" she guessed, her eyes still blank and staring at the flowers.

Luthien withdrawn her hand at the same time Kana had withdrawn her own, she placed it back beside her on the ground to support her body. She watched as Kana stared blankly at the flowers trying to figure out what they were. Luthien nodded her head "yup it starts with an 'L' " she said, looking over the flowers once more, wondering if with that hint Kana would be able to figure out what kind they were. She wasn't going to name them unless she was asked too. She had made the mistake once before of answering a question by naming what something was when someone had asked her, but then that person had become angry with her for answering without allowing her a chance to figure it out herself.
She'd always wondered, if people wanted to figure things out for themselves, why did they ask someone for an explanation? It made no sense to her; however this experience of hers only added to the many reasons she refrained from speaking, she didn't want people to be mad at her.

Kana frowned slightly, wrinkling her nose in an almost comical way as she tilted onto the toes of her feet. She was crouched, balanced somehow, with her arms holding her knees to her chest. Her tail was flicking behind her, her ears perked and alert. "Li..." she murmured, as if sounding out something she found difficult to read. Her nose wrinkled a little more. "Lil... ly..." She blinked, then looked at Luthien questioningly. "Lily?" It was hard to believe this childish girl was actually eighteen years old.

Luthien's eyes shut as she smiled and nodded. "Yup they're lilies" she said opening her eyes once more, lightly stroking one of the petals of the closest white colored one. " I don't exactly know why, but they're my favorite" she said, staring at the flowers now, trying to figure out why they were her favorite. "do you have a favorite type of flower?" she asked shyly, initiating conversation wasn't something she usualy did.

Kana thought it over to herself, tilting her head back to the sky as she watched the clouds for a moment. She almost seemed to have zoned out, until she suddenly jerked her head forward and into proper place again. "Sunflowers!" she cried. "And roses." Two very different flowers, but that's what she'd come up with during her minute or two of silent thinking. Sunflowers and roses.

Luthien watched Kana as she waited for her answer, Kana seemed to be deep in thought or like she had fallen asleep staring up at the sky, or something like that. Finally she was given an answer she was almost startled by Kana's sudden answer. "I like those ones too, they're very pretty. " Luthien said looking around at the other flowerbeds to see if any of them had Rosebushes, or Sunflowers in them,

Kana just smiled happily, maybe a little uncertainly. She had a feeling this person thought her at least a little odd, but that wasn't anything new, now that she thought about it. She blinked, and looked around when Luthien did, though she wasn't sure what she was supposed to be looking at. However, quite soon, a butterfly caught her eye. Her face lit up, and she lurched forward, clasping it between her hands. Her fingers made a sort of barred cage and she held it until the insect had settled down and landed on her palm. Then her top hand removed itself, and the butterfly was left sitting peacefully on her hand. She smiled, then went back over towards Luthien. "I like butterflies too," she said fondly. It was kind of an odd time to see butterflies around, so she felt a little lucky.

Luthien smiled and laughed lightly to herself as she watched Kana catch the butterfly. She watched the butterfly in Kana's hand, she'd never seen one that close before, or during the current time of the year.
It was true Luthien did find Kana a little odd, but she was okay with that, she wasn't exactly normal herself; Luthien was half human and half elf witht eh ablities to manipulate the wind, conjure thunderstorms and anything that involved the sky or air.

Kana watched the butterfly as if transfixed, then lifted her other hand and extremely likely traced one of the wings with her claw, barely touching. She didn't even tear the wing in the slightest bit, so it was kind of obvious she'd done this many times before. Once she had torn the wing, and she'd actually cried over it. But now she was smiling fondly at it, still watching it even as she spoke to Luthien. "Wouldn't it be wonderful to fly?" she asked, a little randomly. For once, her voice was calm, and quiet. "I can slightly but... it's not the same as having natural wings."

"i've sort of flown once before" Luthien said, recalling one time she'd concentrated so hard on her powers that she ended up manipulating the air and wind around her and she lifted off of the ground and moved around the sky before loosing control and falling down back to the ground. " But I think it was more like levitation, and it didn't last long.. .. but I don't have wings either. " she explained, now wondering if she was stronger and if she tried it again now would she have better control over that ability she really didn't know.

Kana's bright smile returned as she looked at Luthien hopefully. When she heard the girl didn't have wings, her face fell just the slightest bit, but it was hardly even noticable. She nodded enthusiastically, watching the butterfly again. "My friends taught me how to fly," she smiled. "By using my powers. I'm not scared to use them anymore!" She didn't elaborate for now, as she blew very lightly on the butterfly, watching its wings flutter in response. "One time, an angel used magic on me that let me fly when I was near him," she recalled as an afterthought. She was starting to make herself sad though, missing her friends, so she pushed the thoughts away.

Luthien felt bad about making the girl dissapointed from her not having wings. She could tell from the slight changes in facial expression. As Kana talked about her powers and her experiences with flight, Luthien's expressions grew wide with amazement. " That's amazing!" she said " I've never really used my powers before that one time I used, and I really haven't used them since, so I don't know all of the abilities I have, or if I can control them or not.. "She explained her face becoming slightly downcast as she recalled memories of the trouble the powers she had caused her, even if she had only used them one time as well as entirely being accidental. "I've been too afraid of using them again. Alot of bad things happened when I used them.."

Kana listened, her expression surprisingly serious all of the sudden. "Same here," she said, dropping the level of her voice as if she were sharing a secret. "I hurt people sometimes, by accident. But when I went to a place called Ria, I found some people who helped me learn to control it. The training was scary and-" She stopped suddenly, shivered, and then continued as if nothing had happened. "-and hard sometimes, but now I'm not scared to use my power. What is yours? Maybe I could help!" She held up her hand at the last word, thrusting lightly upwards, and the butterfly lifted off and fluttered away.
