It helps that the bulk of the establishements in te twin cities are curteous and friendly. Perhaps it's part of locality. In fact, at one place, a guy walks up to me, he works there and he says this new Neil Gaiman book just came out, they've got it discounted at hardcover, it's a really great read. And no, I already have it, but how on earth did he think to suggest that for me. He saw the Vertigo pin on my bag. Now THAT is service. Mostly the mangaphiles will invade when I'm not in a bookstore, I think perhaps I frighten them. But the male of the species just won't go away when I'm waiting for the bus, walking down the street, etc. It's the NERV bag, I know it, but it's a damn good bag and I'm not getting rid of it just because of that. How else would I practice my withering stare and cutting remarks?

I'd load said bag with a brick or two and practice my swing.
I keep getting stuff reccommended to me at the shop and usually i listen, but dammit, I dropped Green lantern when it stopped being about Kyle Rayner. Quit putting it in my bag. evil

People are persistent. When I said to one local comic guy I couldn't stand Infinite Crisis, he started telling me why I wasn't smart enough to get the story. scream

Wally_West You forget, I'm female. Manga fans find armed ladies 'hawt.' Actually, my biggest problem has been wearing the S-shield shirt in public. I had to stop because I was tired of "HEY! SUPERLADY! YEAH! SUPERWOMAN!" yells. So it's not just manga fans... I get that too. Although, the reason I stopped wearing mine so much was the increasing number of "CAN I SHOOT YOU?" yells.

I dislike walking down the street in my Supergirl shirt for the same reason. "Hey, SUPERWOMAN! You REALLY made of steel?" xp

People get indignant and i tell tell i don't buy them because I feel they screwed over the independent market when they went exclusive with Diamond. They just kinda reply, "But, but, but...."

People are weird like that. They think that if you dont like what they like, you must be stupid. There in lies the reason why i really don't like the mangaphiles or the people who espouse one company over another unto death do they part. I don't like the things I don't like for a reason. My complete disgust with things like Naruto, Warsong, Supergirl, Flash, they're not a personal slight against YOU. I may raise an eyebrow when I hear you like something, but it's not a judgement call on your state of being. It means you mentioned something with tentacles in it and that makes me takes a few steps back away from you.

Because in real life Zeek has not attempted to grapht tentacles onto his person. ... That I know of. Maybe he's hiding something. Maybe there's a reason he was conveniently "out of town" when I was last in Michigan...

A couple weeks ago at the liquor store, I was wearing my DC "Ladies Night" shirt that has all the female heroes running on it. I had to stand there with the clerks staring at my chest while they tried to name them all to impress me. rolleyes
