The gold opened one eye, looking at the bowing drake.
*Teach you? Teach you what?*
The lighting had hit him, but hadn't left, it was crackling along his wing edge, which was hanging over the tree limb toward the ground. With a quick arc, it left his wing, and hit the earth. The gold never even batted an eye.

Terk normally happy features, grew cold for a second. "I tried, and I failed. The one person in my world was the only one I failed in protecting. Now he is dead!" The smile and flashing eyes came back as instantly as they disappeared. "Now I'm just out to protect whoever seems to need my help!"

While his eyes remained closed, the gold cocked a scaley eyebrow. It seemed old scars could still hurt.

He rolled over, falling from the tree limb to land on his feet at the ground. He opened his eyes and crossed his arms.
