Hinge 1 Algren rolled his shoulders and turned around, his thick tongue wetting his dry lips and he spat on the earth. His eyes were level with his foe and he snorted before a smile crossed his lips. “True, I may be slower than you, but my forte is battling mages, not fighters. I leave that for the likes of the other Dragon Slayers.” The storm clouds were growing overhead and he smiled as distant thunder began to roll in, the smell of cold rain heavy upon the air. He heard the marching feet of the Imperial Legions and lazily twirled his spear, as if he knew victory was assured. “I’d leave now if I were you. I can smell the Emperor’s daughter foul scent on the air.” He paused and his gloved hand tightened on the spear, as a look of immense loathing crossed his face. “And she can gut you with ease.” He then looked past his foe and then flashed his teeth again. “But looks like your already dead.” Asmudius suddenly shouted as he leapt up from the earth, the rolling waves of dirt falling aside as his long hair caught the wind and flew like serpents as the jagged cutlass rose overhead in a high arc and then began to come crashing down like a meteor from heaven. It appeared that the assassin, Algren, had not heard Crusera's approach. This made her position all the better. Her pearly white teeth were suddenly visible. So bright against the stark contrast of her charcol flesh. The static electricity which seemed to hang in the air about them filled Crusera with confidence. She mimicked his own moves, leaping and hanging for a moment, suspended in the air like a honeyeater, hovering for those few second it took to suck the nectar from a flower. Or in the case of Crusera, to send her sleek black whip out, it's tendril like length coiling about the hilt of the assassin's cutlass. "You should be more aware stranger. You are in enemy territory..." Crusera's voice was like velvet, dark and smooth. Her indigo orbs blazing with an inner fire.

He quickly took a step to the side in order to avoid the aeriel attack. He swung his arm out and set his claymore to the man's throat. "Surprise me once, shame on you. Surprise me twice, shame on me." He simply said. He then turned his attention back to the man. "You are then outmatched. So the only practical thing for you is to retreat. Even if you bring in other dragon slayers, I can call upon an old friend of mine to come to me." He said.
"Stupid old man, what the hell did he get himself into this time?" Khonnos said as he fired his last shot. "Daddy! I'm scared!" Said a small little girl. "When are we going to see grandpa?" Another girl asked. "Stay with Donnadch and we'll see him soon. Skhantieniaia, take your sisters deeper into the forest and try to find the forrester's camp. Give them an update as to what is happening." Khonnos said to an older girl of about twenty. "But what about grandpa? Knowing him, he's probably in the thickest part of this." Skhantieniaia said. "Don't worry, He's been using his sword and I have fought with him enough times to recognize it. Just go and find the forresters." At this, he jumped out of the tree he was in and went towards the stag the three girls were riding. "Donnadch, be swift and be sure. Protect my daughters like you protected Jhohniowia." He said, placing his forehead on Donnadch's head. He then turned to a man standing close by. "And you better protect them as well, or else Jhohniowia will have your hide while you're still alive." The man gulped and nodded. Khonnos then put the bow and empty quiver on Donnadch's horns and took out his stiletto. With a nod from Khnonnos, the group dispersed. The three girls and the man towards the forrester's camp and Khonnos heading towards where Khnui is.

The black flames licked around Algren once more.
“This shall be your last chance to retreat foresters. After this, your dead, and I would hate to have to end this hunt so soon.” Algren then began to slowly walk backwards towards a doorway of a nearby house, the silver spear point out before him. He then spoke another word, harsh and cruel, and Asmudius’ body began jerking, and cracking and snapping as limbs moved in ways they should not and then suddenly Asmudius lay still, a low growl emanating from his lips and his eyes began to slowly slide open.((OHHH! What could this mean)) -------------------------------------------- Mistress Blood stood upon the high hill watching the two legions under the command of Lord Grefton and Fortin Bane charge into the town. She shook her head in disgust and spat on a tree, a tree that began to decay and rot as the fluid struck the dissolving bark. What was it about that fool Algren that made idiots want to follow him? The fool had the Emperor’s blessing for crying out loud! Even his own children didn’t have that! She hated that man, she hated him with every fiber of her being, but her father loved him and she knew that she could not directly attack Algren without the Emperor’s wrath being invoked. No, she would make Algren’s life difficult. Make him look a fool in his quest for the foresters, and when Algren lost favor with the Emperor, and she would do anything to make Algren lose favor, she would cut off his head. Personally.
((Hey guys, as you know there are no a bunch of Dragon Slayers and if you guys are interested in role-playing one, PM me and I’ll fill you in on what that character’s power’s are and what they need to do to fulfill what Je sius and I have planned. Kaden shook his head at Chrono’s words.
“What are we going to do with her?” he mumbled quietly, “Chrono, this is Sarah.” He said, raising his voice to normal speaking volume, “She’s a friend of mine from another Forester post. Like Blaise she is a Mage Superior, and a very good one at that.”
“Don’t praise me, Kaden.” Sarah said with a smile, “I’m not half as good as Blaise so it’s futile even mentioning it.”
She turned to Chrono and stuck out her hand to shake, “Pleased to meet, Mister Chrono.”

"Let her sleep it off, I suppose..." Chrono said, shaking Sarah's hand. "Please, just call be Chrono, miss."
Rosette, in the mean time was now fast asleep, the side effects of the alcohol completely knocking her out. However, it didn't stop her from having dreams.
It was a peaceful dream at first, but it was more a fond memory than a dream, Joshua, her little brother, had not been born yet, and their mother was still alive. Her Mother was sitting outside the house, weaving together reeds to make a basket, she was rather plump, due to being pregnant with Joshua. Oddly enough, Chrono was sitting close to her, picking stray flowers and throwing them into the half-made basket. He looked just as he did now, only he hand much shorter hair. Perhaps this was more of a meddled dream than memory. She'd never known Chrono as such a young child.
"Mommy! Mommy watch!" Rosette shouted, she was just a tiny girl, as she stood on a low branch of a tree growing nearby, she was barely a few feet above the ground. Rosette's mother looked up to watch, her yellow eyes looked as dazzling as the morning sun. Rosette's father was close by, holding several chopped logs for their fire that night. His own bright blue eyes shone with excitment as he laughed at Rosette's impression of a bird. Rosette happily flapped her arms like wings. Her own eyes, one blue and one yellow, darted from her mother to father to make sure they were still watching her. Suddenly, her foot slipped and she fell hard on her rear on the ground.
"Ow! Papa I hurt my bum." she said tearfully looking around at him. Suddenly, everything was dark around her, everything was gone. Then she was in a dimly lit room. At the end was a doorway with a large table, and on it was a thin figure, covered by a sheet. Rosette approached it slowly, unsure of what to do.
She never did reach the sheet to see who it was, and she didn't have to. The figure sat up, the sheet still covering it slightly. It hung half-way of her face. It was Rosette's mother.
"Rosette... my little dove... come give your mother a hug, I've missed you so." The real Rosette would have been a little more suspicious, but the child in her, and that of the dreams itself, ran towards the table and hugged her tightly.
"I missed you to Momma..." Rosette said, hugging her even more tightly and breathing in her smell, it was her favorite smell, the smell of Juniper flowers. Her mother always wore them in her hair during the Spring. She looked up, wanting to see her mother's beautiful viberant eyes, and gasped. The sheet had fully fallen off her mother's face. That part that been uncovered was a mass of decayed flesh, rittled with insects and dirt. The part of her lips that was left smiled down at Rosette's horrified face.
"Come now, my little dove... give your mother a little kiss...."
And with that, Rosette woke up screaming.
"Rosette?!" Chrono, said, alarmed by her suddenly hysterics. He hadn't heard her scream like that in a while. He hastily pulled his hand away from Sarah's and tore off to the back room where she'd recently been sleeping.

A terrible scream came from the other room and Chrono immediately ran towards it. Sarah, in an attempt to follow, took a couple steps but was stopped by Kaden.
He shook his head and said, “Let him handle this. He knows her best.”
Sarah nodded and looked to the room where Chrono had disappeared.
~*~*~*~
Blaise smiled at Cadie and looked up to her voice. She held her stave in her hand for balance and protection though she felt safe. Cadie seemed like a good person . . . a pure heart. Her presence was one she had felt once before. It was quiet and humble, but very strong. It reminded her of Tax.
“Where do you—?” but she didn’t get to finish her question. It was interrupted by a frightened scream. Rosette’s frightened scream.
Blaise sprang forward, quickly skirting Cadie. She pushed her hand forward until it connected with her door frame and stepped out. A hand grabbed her arm and she felt another grab for her stave. She moved her stave and pulled her arm out of the person’s grip. With a flick of her fingers a great blast of wind went out and knocked the person down and she held her stave out to where she had heard them fall.
“Blaise!” Kaden grunted.
Blaise cringed and stepped out of her defensive stance. It was just Kaden.
“Jeezum, don’t scare me like that, Kaden.” She sighed heavily, “I could have really hurt you.”
“I was just trying to stop you. You didn’t have to go and hit me.” He replied, pulling himself up off the ground.
“Sorry. I heard Rosette scream. Is everything alright?”
“Yes, she’s fine. Chrono’s taking care of it now.”
Blaise sighed again and nodded.
“Wow, Blaise,” Sarah smiled, “You’re even better than the last time I saw you.”
Blaise smiled, recognizing the voice.
“Sarah.”

Rosette was thrashing under the blankets when she woke up, and only calmed down when Chrono was there, pulling the blankets off and helping her into a sitting position.
"Rosette, calm down, calm down, it' s alrihgt. I'm right here. It was just a bad dream." he said to Rosete, who was now shaking.
"O-Oh God... Rosette...I saw my mum, but... she was dead or something, but she was there! Talking! But she was dead! Oh...it's horrible..."
"Shhh..."Chrono said, rubbing her back. "It was just a nightmare, nothing more, you're alright."
After a few quick, deep breaths, Rosette felt considerably better, but that only lasted a short while. Almost immediately she felt something rise up the back of her throat.
"Urp-!"
"Rosette? Are you alright? You look a little gre-Gaaah!"
Yelling was about the only thing Chrono could do at the moment, especially since Rosette's tolerance was nothing against that strange brew she'd found before. And like with most hangovers, she vomited, but never with sure aim.
"I just got these clothes Rosette!"

Hearing Chrono’s shouts Kaden peeked into the room. Upon seeing the situation he tried not to laugh but a few chuckles managed to slip out.
“Ah, I rather expected something like this to happen.” He said, trying to hide his smile, “Blaise! Could you come here for a moment? Erm, Rosette had a little . . . umm . . . ublurp.”
Blaise followed Kaden’s voice to where he stood. She wished more to speak with Sarah again but she would understand. Blaise had guests to attend to.
“An ublurp?”
“Yes, an ublurp, if you know what I mean.” Kaden answered, trying not to expose the somewhat embarrassing situation to the others within the house.
“Ah . . . that kind.”
“Yes, do you have any spare clothes for Chrono?” Kaden asked.
Blaise nodded, “Yeah. I think all the clothes I keep in this room have been used, but there should be something in the shed on the side of the house.” Kaden nodded, then remembering the gesture could not be seen said, “Alright. I’ll get them.”
He turned and lifted a finger to Sarah as a signal to wait a moment while they got things back in order. She nodded and Kaden stepped outside.
Blaise stuck out a hand to summon all liquids in the room, no matter how . . . volatile. She then bent to touch the floor, sending a current of air across its surface. There was no disruption in the current telling her all the mess was gone from the floor. Aware of the sphere of slop floating near her, she cast it out the window to dispose of it.
“Anything left of the . . . erm . . . mess that I missed?” Blaise asked Chrono.

"How about the mess on me, Blaise?" Chrono asked, sounding completely mortified with what happened. Rosette was dangling half-way off the bed, and didn't seem to give a damn over the fact she'd just ralphed on her friend.
"Remind me to never touch that parshicular brewsky again..." Rosette said, still sounding very drunk.

Cadie was more surprised by the scream than Blaise's ability to respond quickly. She decided against following, figuring that she'd only get in the way. The way Blaise hadn't hesitated to move was a good sign, simply the fact that Blaise was determined not to be dissabled by this so called handicap was encouraging. She went back to the doorway of Blaise's room and waited patiently for the situation to be taken care of. She leaned against the door frame, only then beginning to feel tired after all the events of the day. She wondered what Blaise had been about to ask her, there were very few questions that she'd refuse to answer and she wouldn't refuse an answer without very good reason.

“Oh . . .” Blaise smiled, “That would be the reason for you needing clothes.”
Blaise faced Chrono and summoned the disgusting slop covering him. She disposed of this by throwing it out the window again.
“There, that should be a little better.” She said stepping towards him, then she noticed the smell, “Uhh . . . or not . . .”
She went back to the doorway and stuck her head out.
“Erm, Sarah? Could you please go to the bathroom and, ah, bring up some water for a bath. The water will be cold so you might want to warm it.”
Sarah nodded and went into the bathroom to her left. There was a fresh water well just outside the house and a pipe ran from it to the bathtub and sink. Sarah drew enough water for the bath and set to heating it.
Blaise turned back to Chrono and said, “Just go to the bathroom and wash up. I’ll tell Kaden to leave your clothes just inside the door. You can go ahead and pull the dressing curtain around the bathtub so we won’t have another incident like at Riane’s. I’ll take care of Rosette.”

Chrono blushed avidly and rubbed his forehead. He'd been hoping to forget that episode at Raine's, but apparently he'd yet to live that down.
"Alright, and thank you. But you'd best keep a distance from Rosette for the moment. She might not be done just yet."
Chrono was all too right about Rosette and her habits, for now the blonde had her hand clasped over her mouth, and was making odd choking noises as well.

Galdin had sent the trainees back to their camp once the light had begun to fade. He had had trainees slip up in the darkness, and when dealing with foresters as unexperianced as the trainees, there was really no point in risking it. Once he was sure he was alone, Galdin walked out of the camp and through the trees, rubbing his arms as he did. He felt somewhat dissapointed with himself, but it seemed as if every muscle in his body ached.
"It's ridiculous.... I've roamed these woods longer then most soldiers lifetimes, I've fought in more battles then most men could imagine...... and I've been forced to see more undeserving die then any man should be allowed to live with." With a deep sigh, Galdin laid down on the ground, his head propped up against a tree. "I suppose I could never forgive myself for dieing without making sure I left behind some sort of peace.... ah well, no use in thinking about it now....." With that, Galdin slowly slipped off into sleep with the knowledge that he would wake up with the sounds of battle preperation.

(OOC: Sorry for the absence the festive season is always so busy! Hope everyone had a good christmas, and a happy new years to all!)Crusera narrowed her eyes as the assassin's gaze drifted over her. The edges of her lips began to curl upwards with distaste, her expression twisting into a cold, cruel snarl. " ussta waela mua" She whispered to herself in her native tongue. The alien language at once both brutal and beautiful. "You make so many assumptions. The tell tale mark of an amateur." Crusera yanked her whip back, its sinewy black length unfurling from the hilt of the sabre and coiling about the ebon skinned womans wrist. "Your legions will have no chance catching me in the trees. I will pick them off, one by one, and they will not even know where to look for me." Crusera stood her ground defiantly, she could taste the rain, heavy in the air all around them, before the droplets even began to fall. Her platinum tresses seemed to crackled with a latent energy as they billowed gently about her face and shoulders. The words which Algren spoke to the white haired man had no meaning to Crusera, but she understood well enough, "To make matters worse, you use another as a sacrifice to over your own retreat!" she ignored the convulsions of the old man, instead she began to walk towards, slowly, purposefully, like a panther stalking her prey. She did not cast a glance to the writhing Asmedius as she passed him, instead, she leapt nimbly over him and continued towards Algern. "But I shall not let you escape so easily. x'ianxin" Crusera hissed the words like a snake.

Blaise nodded and stepped away from Rosette.
“I’ll be sure to watch out for that.” she smiled, “The bathroom is just across the way. Go ahead in, Sarah should be done at any moment.”
The smell of Rosette’s ‘ublurp’ still lingered so Blaise brought about a stir in the air to get rid of the sour air.
