arrow Light Temple, east tower

The screams from below mingled with Hoshimi's dreams until they touched the spirit within her and allowed her to 'see' what had happened after she had fainted at the Water Temple. This was enough to disturb her awake where she heard the screams for real.

As quickly as the weak girl was capable of, she made her way to a window to see what the problem was, trusting that the Light mage had done everything he was capable of doing. There she watched in horror as a man was attacked and then gratefully as a few other mages came to his assistance as well as attacking the man who seemed to be the cause of the commotion.

Why were the Temples being attacked. And who was this foolish man who thought to attack the Light Temple on his own. He was either an idiot or a very powerful mage. Fortuantely for the Temple it seemed to be the former.

That was really her last thought as she slumped against the window's ledge and merely watched, simply feeling relieved as the mages shot the arrows to shred the strangers wings. Wishing she could do something to help the injured but her body didn't seem to want to move from it's position at the window, as she wondered then if this was what her home temple had looked like. Tears then fell from her eyes, she needed to become stronger was her last thought before blacking out.

Mick heard the bark through the bath door and looked over at the hitman. The mage brought a finger to his lips and whispered, "If we're going to do this, we're going to do it my way."

Mick looked back at the door and called out, "Yes! Just a moment! I'm afraid you've caught me in an indecent form, and I'm pretty sure you gentlemen don't want to have a naked man answering the door."

Mick finished pulling his pants up, fastening them tight before he flicked his right wrist, the wire cage surrounding the bath room becoming slack and retracting to Mick's hand. "Now," he whispered, "hide and wait for the right moment to ambush them, but don't kill them. I'm sure you're good at rendering people unconcious. If these guys stop breathing, I will not hesitate to kill you. I'm glad you understand."

He just has to hate all these commands, especially from a guy like me.

Mick crossed the room quickly and grabbed a fluffy white bathrobe with "Hefter's Haven" ebroidered in gold on the left breast. He went to the door, checked to see that the hitman was hidden, and then opened the door partway. Good, only two... "Is there something wrong, gentlemen?"

The two acolytes who had accompanied the adept, however, were less inclined to let this barbarian escape after the deeds he had done. The two chased after, but were not quick enough to catch him before he took off into the air.

However, their spells already prepared, the two let loose with the energy they had set aside for this very purpose; the two of them, almost in unison, thrusting their hands forward, palms out, towards the dark figure which was making it's way off through the sky. As if they were a volley of arrows fired, two dozen sharp needles of hardened light shot forwards and into the air, unerringly shooting towards their target, and spreading as they moved into a cone of needles.

The 'man' that had done this may have taken to the air, but he was not far enough yet for their spell not to reach him and shred those wings of his to pieces.

(( And that should be that. ::snickers:: ))

((afraid not))

Sacros' ears twitched, he heard the whistling the needles made. He also sensed the magic aura the needles had. He moved out the way, barrel rolling to avoid them. He then looked at the two mages. So they wanted a magic duel Sacros headed back to the temple and landed upon a roof. He looked at the Magi and grinned, his cloak flapping behind him in the wind. His white face seemed to grow colder and expressionless as he began uttering powerful words.

The sky began to cloud over, a chill wind picked up. Sacros continued murmuring, lost in the trance and concentration required for the spell. The clouds swirled overhead, lightning flashed from within the cloud. Sacros didn't care if the light mages were making a counter, he could deal with it. His spell was powerful. His chanting grew louder, his voice booming. He finished the spell and looked at the cloud. Lightning struck down onto the ground below, roasting civilians, as well as the Acolyte's if they hadn't moved.

((afraid not))

(( Why's that? ))

Silfer
Sacros' ears twitched, he heard the whistling the needles made.

(( That I won't argue with, though I've got to wonder what kind of incredible hearing he must have to be able to hear a faint whistling of parting air caused by these very thin needles shooting through the air towards him while he, himself is soaring through it.

Ever stand on a mountaintop on a really windy day? It's about that loud. You can't hear a person 20 feet away SHOUTING at you.

Silfer
Turning and stopping he raised his palms.

(( Wait, he turned? *Watches any upwards force his wings might be giving him just completely dry up.*

Wait, he stopped? *Watches him DROP.*

Silfer
He also moved out the way, barrel rolling to avoid them.

(( But you just said he STOPPED. ))

Silfer
Sacros headed back to the city and landed upon a tall roof. He looked at the Magi and grinned, his cloak flapping behind him in the wind.

(( That's... a pretty good distance to be looking at them and grinning. Since I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere so far in WoG 2.0, so I'm still running on the placement of the temple in WoG 1.6 or so, you're grinning at them from about half a mile away down a mountain path. ))

Silfer
Lightning struck down onto the ground below, roasting civilians, as well as the Acolyte's if they hadn't moved.

(( Civilians? Where? Near you? That'll get the town guard on your a**...

Acolytes? Near civilians? I think not. ))

((ok, you can stop when flying and turn. You stop, turn around and placed enough force to stay in one spot, and not move upwards.

Yeah, i messed up the order on that, he is meant to barrel roll, THEN stop.

Thirdly, i went back to the city, so yes i am near them, and grinning at them. Fourthly i thought they had chased hom out onto the streets, unless you are implying they are shooting through the roof.))

"Now," One solider whispered to the other, "The informant told us that this way isn't an actual exit, and since Hefter said this room was now empty that means this has to be the guy."

"You mean a homicidal murderer is coming to the door calmly?" The other replied.

"It seems weird, but I guess he thinks we don't know about the false information he was given."

"Well, bribing the relay was a good idea." The other grinned, "Even if this somehow isn't the guy, we have somebody to take the fall. I say we use the surprise maneuver, if he wants to play it cool we'll catch him off guard."

At that moment Mick opened the door and was in view of two Mehrick Mercenary Corps solders in their gold tinted armor. They already had their weapons drawn when he came.

"Sir," One guard started, "You may be aware that A. Lasus Merglock, current chair of the Mehrick Ruling Council, was killed in this bathhouse today. We would normally be here to carry out investigation, but thanks to an informant we already know where that person will be. On behalf of the Mehrick Ruling Council."

"You have been condemned to death." The second solider already had his sword in mid swing with those words. Before the blade + neck = dead Mick, the sword hit the ground with a clang.

The first mercenary looked to his companion, he cringed as he noticed him falling to the ground due to the knife protruding from his head.

"For reference," Rigel calmly said as he dropped his throwing arm to his side, "I think I stopped liking your plan the same time you did."

((Thirdly, i went back to the city, so yes i am near them, and grinning at them. Fourthly i thought they had chased hom out onto the streets, unless you are implying they are shooting through the roof.))

(( You missed the point. The temple is outside of the city, as far as I know... true, it's technically in the city, but since Sey hasn't said anything to the contrary in all this time so far, I'm still going with what was said in the old WoG: that the temple is on the eastern edge of the city, sitting on a plateau that overlooks an expanse of the plains. Now, I'm sure there are parts of the city that extend out to it, but I doubt it's in the heart of the city or any of that.

You also missed that the temple is not an indoor complex. There is no roof unless you're actually INSIDE. If you WERE inside, then it would have happened so very much differently than it did, because the only way out would be through the door, which wouldn't have happened. ))

Mick sighed and shrugged his shoulders. "I suppose it couldn't be helped, this time." With three quick flicks of his left wrist, the wires in that hand sprang to life, quickly ensnaring the remaining mercanary around his torso and knees. Without a moment's hesitation Mick brought his right arm back and punched the mercanary in the face. Hard.

Mick my have been a mage, but he loved to defy the stereotype that mages punched like a wet noodle.

(( :: pokes her temple description ::

It's on the Easternmost reaches of Laburnum. Originally it was seperate from the city but Laburnum expanded so much that it's city walls encompass the temple itself. There's a MASSIVE temple description along with any other important things that need to be described in detail in the first few posts of this thread.

exclaim Can I get a nice description of Hefter's Haven to add there too? exclaim

Yes so um... to quote a crazy person... "thing." xd ))

Sacros flew hard, his wings beating. He heard something, whistling toward him, he looked over his head to see an arrow flying toward him. He spun in the air, closed his eyes and began to concentrate, his spell stopped the arrow in mid air, it dropped to the ground with a thud. Sacros opened his eyes smiling, although there was something else. He could sense something, travelling at a tremendous speed.

He didn't see anything, until the light reflected off the arrows. He yelled as the arrows went through his wings. In pain he screamed, the holy arrows, ripping apart his wings. Burning as the magic scorched his flesh. He yelled as he flew, casting one last spell before he hit the ground. Casting it successfully he hit the ground in the forest, injured, in pain but alive. The fall hadn't broken anything, he had landed upon a bed of leaves. His wings however would need healing. He would have to cast a spell for that later.

Back at the temple a voice echoed through the stone. It seemed to leave a sense of terror in the ground. The voice was pure evil, enough to make even the unholiest fear sin. The voice echoed, but was directed at Yukiko. "Do not fear mistress of light. Your death shall come soon, where all may watch, your death, will be my vengence" with that the voice faded.

"I pray that God has mercy on your soul." Was Yukiko's only response as she lowered her hands and let out a staggering sigh. Her lithe body shook with the effort of the spells and her eyes trailed over the shocked magi of the temple.

"The wounded? Where are the wounded? And where is Sey? Is she alright?!" Her voice progressively grew louder as the words came from her mouth, bordering on hysteria as she asked about her youngest child.

"I want to know how in Gaia that thing got past the Paldins. And where is the kunoichi - I need to speak to her immediately."

Rigel looked at the wires that entangled the solder. Wires obviously intended for him if he missteped. This character looked like a mage but obviously had quite a few more characteristics to him.

Luckily he had played what Rigel assumed to be his trump card before Rigel played his. Advantage, Rigel.

The problem was making sure his impulses didn't blow his own special abilities. He had just barely stopped himself from enhancing that knife with gravity; at this range it would have blown clear through his head.
But now communication was the stumbling block. Rigel remembered a book his mentor had him read, something about small talk and the stupidity of revealing your abilities through it. He was sure it was solid advice.

"These rats travel in packs," Rigel motioned to Mick to pull the solder out of view, "And until we get to safety unseen, we're in this together."

Unseen was a good word, it promoted the strangers plan of not hurting anyone. Though Rigel often thought that if nobody was left alive to report what they saw, that was good too.

"And since they were able to find me, that means I've been sold out." Rigel knew who did it, it had been predicted beforehand anyway.

"So," Rigel Shrugged, "Know any places we can go?"

Espa squealed in Mick's head. She was not one to miss an adventure no matter how dangerous it was. The psychic had been following the conversation in the next room via Mick's mind. She refused to touch Rigel's mind again. During the time they were chatting, Espa had soaked, shampooed, conditioned, and otherwise cleansed herself and felt truly refreshed.

The servant assigned to her room had taken her clothes away an hour ago and reentered through a private door with them nice and clean. Espa dried off andstarted to dress again, restrapping her hunting knife to her left thigh once she got her tan cargo pants on. Her belts were all reslung across her hips and her black shirt was rebuttoned. She put her tan leather duster on and tied her hair back with a leather cord. Lastly, her hat went on.

Espa tipped the lady profusely because she had a feeling that they were going to leave without paying.

"Miss, I'd advise you to stay in this room for 10 minutes after I leave and not to use the main door out of this room."

The woman nodded and complied with Espa's request, going about the job of tidying the room. Espa pulled her black combat boots on and tucked the tops of her pants into them.
