They try to update them so it can relate to todays youth, complete crap. I related to the books just fine.

Just because they have a bigger budget doesn't mean it will be better. The last King Kong should be proof of that.

I thought it was ok, not as good as the original, but ok. A better example, Titanic, Waterworld.
