Lael rolls her eyes, smiling. "That sounds like Nathan all right. How did she take it?"

"That'd probably be the best idea," Nathan chuckled.
"Needless to say, she was offended," Darian said, "and understandably so. But, at the same time I think she was toying with him."

"All my ideas are the best ideas," Cassie says and laughs.
"Was she? Interesting. I doubt there are many people who would dare to toy with Nathan. It seems as though we have met a very interesting little ghost then. I never thought I'd meet one and not be scared out of my witts, but she doesn't seem dangerious," Lael replies.

"So you're a smart kid, eh?" Nathan said, "Cassie my girl, this could be the start of a beautiful and plot-filled friendship."
"I think toying with him was a little easier for her considering he can't really do anything about it," Darian laughed, "although, if he could then their friendship could be even more bizzare."

"Yes I am," Cassie responds. "I've certainly had long enough to get that way." She grinns and adds, "It should certainally be and interesting friendship, if nothing else."
"I suppose so. But if he could I'm not so sure she would still be here after toying with him. He is nothing if not intimidating when he wishes to be."

"Yes," Natahn said thoughtfully, "I suppose you have. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been dead?"
"Really scary thing is I'm pretty sure he can back up how intimidating he is," Darian says. "He does tend to take construction jobs from what I've heard. Probably shows off a bit, although probably not in an obviously dangerous way."

Cassie's face darkens, but she answers none the less. "I couldn't tell you the exact date, for I have long since forgotten. Now, I cannot even tell you where I died. But it was somewhere on the east side of this continent, over 250 years ago. In the 1730s, I think, but I cannot be sure."
"I agree. Although I don't think he would ever intentionally hurt someone without being provoked," Lael replies. Listening to Cassie's reply to Nathan she adds, "Poor girl. To not even remember when she died, or where. And by the looks of it she was so young, too."

"Well then," Nathan said with a laugh, "I guess you're the closest here in age to ole Darian here, excluding his cousin and fiancee." The half demon motioned to the blue haired elf beside him.
Darian had been about to respond to Lael when Nathan had motioned to him and mentioned his age. "Oi, leave me outta this ye half-daft headcase."

Lael laughs at Darian's responce to Nathan while Cassie says, "You're sitting here, there for you're in the conversation. How old are you?"

"About four-hundred fifty three years, and still going strong," he said with a slight laugh. "I figure I've got at least a couple more centuries."
"Oh come off it!" Nathan said, slightly irritated by what he preceived as Darian bragging about his longevity. "Everyone knows elves live for an insanely long time. It comes back to bite you though, Lael and I'll be long gone by the time you seem to be in your thirties."

"That's a depressing thought," Lael says, rolling her eyes. "You always come up with the most uplifting things to say, Nathan."
"So you're not quite twice as old as me," Cassie muses. "But then again, I suppose it's different. Technically I'm still 11. That was when I died. You can't grow older when you're dead."

"Yeah, I guess that'd be pretty weird if you got older as a ghost," Darian laughed. "But then, I'm starting to think nothing's impossible."
"I'd like to see you have my childhood and not become at least a little cynical." The half demon's eyes show a slight anger, more of a frustration at the fact that him being a product of his environment and upbringing was being treat as a choice than true rage.

"You have no idea," Cassie says, rolling her eyes. "When you can become invisible you find out the strangest things."
Noticing that she'd upset him Lael says, "I was only joking, Nathan. I know it's not your fault. But even though your childhood will always effect you," she adds, her voice still gentle but firm, "you can't just let it run your life. Be as cynical as you want. I wasn't insulting you when I said that. But don't use your childhood as an excuse for everything."
