Youkai_Regina I picked up the clarinet from my step-mom in 5th grade. I've now been playing for 7 years. I also play bass clarinet, and would love to learn to play contra bass clarinet. That would be great. I love my clarinet. It's wood, and has gotten totally destroyed by me. I feel bad. I dropped it off a high shelf in 8th grade and got cracked between the two main peices. It still plays fine, but sometimes air leaks out. sweatdrop I can't decide if i want to persue this into college. It's just too much work.[ I play bass clarinet. I also want to play contra bass clarinet though. My school has one but i doubt my bd would let me cause im really 2 short to play the regular bass. I had to sit on 2 chairs and a phonebook! Now i can reach it on one chair but just barely! LOL oh well my dreams of becoming the best contra bass clarinet player are not crushed! sweatdrop At least not yet. I'm only in 7th grade.

Goddess Nayru I have a question for the bass clarinets, and maybe the clarinets. In one of my pieces, I do from a high D straight to a high B with a tongue in between. My question is, do you have any tips for going that high? I can slur all the way up to high C perfectly, but I have all sorts of issues with tongueing. I've tried bass clarinet before and it is really hard to get up to those high notes!!!! I know this really sounds cliche` but practice..... that's how I can get my high notes to come..... and I have trouble with tounging too..... i can't tounge the idiot 16th notes in this one song that goes frickin' fast so t doesn't sound right 'cuz it's all supposed to be short.... so then my director gets all mad at me... so i should really take my own advice on that subject... sweatdrop

I played clarinet in 6th - 8th grade, I switched to Bass clarinet in the 9th grade, and after three months, and then noble asked me to play saxaphone. I still have a clarinet, and I play it sometimes, but I split me reed and don't have another one, so I havnt played it lately. ^_^
