Anyway, Democracy player. I was very excited when I first saw the website since they were talking about access to new voices and such, and I thought it might connect me to activist networks like the one that produced the show that lead me there. I downloaded it, and was quite upset to find no channels under their 'activism' or 'environmental' channel lists, but eventually found that this is more a result of poor organization than a lack of content. Many interesting shows I did find filed under different categories. I subscribed at first to many channels, interested in seeing what was available, including many music and cooking shows (just 'cause I'm like that cool ). But some particular channels (I'm looking at Megite: The Social News Aggregator most specifically) downloaded way too much stuff! It ended up lagging up my computer, and while some of the stuff was really interesting, like short documentaries, reports on civil rights protests around the world, and some crazy awesome interviews, there was also a lot of crap. So I ended up pruning down my channel list, or at least turning off automatic downloading for some of the larger ones. I simply do not have enough time to watch that much content! I'm not a TV person!

Some of my favorite channels so far, other than Threadbanger and Ask A Ninja of course, have been Wine Library TV, which daily updates with a show hosted by Gary Vaynerchuck, wherein he talks about and tastes different wines, Cibi Alterati, a cooking show from two guys in their tiny apartment in Berlin which I have only seen one episode of but is crazy on par with how Japan is crazy, The Cooking Show, which is done buy two Aussi dudes who make good food and get very drunk by the end of the episode, G Living Network, which is dirty hippie granola, Democracy Now!, an independant news production, and most of the music channels that I have. I've seen some really cool bands, an epic DJ battle between like 12 of the best in europe, and been shown some really cool songs including the one that is now set as my media in my profile.

I was very unhappy to see some advertisements downloaded among the other content, but I went through and found where'd they come from and unsubscribed from those channels straight'way. I'm also kind of T'Od that some of the videos just don't play, but that is very very likely to just be my computer, which doesn't really like playing video media most of the time. I do like that if there is something I really want to see that won't play, I can go to the download folder and open the file with another media player, since it's right on my hard drive. I don't like having so much content to have to sort through, but as I said earlier I have been working on filtering it down, and I also like that you can watch only what you want, whenever you want, and you can go back and review anything at any time. One of my many problems with television news (which I've actually stopped watching entirely since the end of my days pirating satellite and recieving many international news stations to compare, but honestly miss for the easy access to current events) is that unlike sources in print, it's very quick and boiled down, so a lot of things can get by you and it's harder to separate fact from opinion. Getting it from the internet though, I can pause, rewind, replay, and come back later to review or recheck anything I watch.

Some shows, because they're independantly and non-professionally produced, have some poor to piss recording quality for both visual and audio, and this does not make me happy. But it's independant, and proper equipment can be expensive, so I am willing to deal so long as they're making an effort.

I'm trying to go through here and find some good springtime picnic recepies. The G Living Network's green cooking show has some interesting stuff, but they're using all sorts of crazy magic vegan ingredients that I don't have access to since I've eaten animals in the past and that pisses off the unicorns, and everything they make is a freaking salad. I'm going to try to limit myself to only one or two salads. Maybe a light pasta, maybe some sandwiches. I want to use nuts in something, hazelnuts, walnuts, I'm craving that oaky nutty flavour. I'm going to try to find a nice, light, white wine, but I really don't know how to shop for that. I'll have to get some information from the interweb, I guess, then hope that I get lucky in the store. Maybe some fish. Salmon.

For Sammiches, I allready have cheddar, and I'm now thinking that I might do something with the chicken that I still have. Cut it thin and grill it up. I'll have to find a good way to grill chicken.

And for the Pasta Salad, I've allready got pasta and a variety of green spices that will work together.
I need to decide what to do with the nuts though. They might work with the pasta. Even if I just end up eating them though, I will not be unhappy.

I kind of crossed this picnic with the sandwich party idea that I've been wanting to do for a long time now. I'm almost starting to think that maybe I should invite more people sad

Nobody has invited me to any end of the year parties or anything though, and I don't know how I could go about contacting anyone now that we're out of classes.

I need to be looking for work now too, and shouldn't stay in town for too much longer. I need to move out of here before the end of the month.

I probably should not have gone shopping while hungry. I guess part of it too is wanting to get this picnic done. I'm definitely looking forward to it, but by the hour I'm growing more anxious about finding a job. I absolutely hate job searching.
