Stordahl its finally gotten warm enough to try and do guard biggrin , but no rifle(because of the snow)only flag, and i hit myself in the head onevery other toss xd

I started the flag team at my highschool after going to a summer camp. They were pretty good but we really didn't know anything. Then I went on to college guard and everything got a whole lot more exciting. During the winter breaks and summer breaks I go home and teach all the new stuff I learned to the guard back home and now they really kick butt. There are really only two marching bands in my home area though, including ours so we are a new thing. Sad I know, but still very cool.
Since I haven't had any training in rifle and sabre I have been looking for a camp to go to and learn them. Does anyone have any suggestions as to some really good places to go a learn. It would be better if it was on the west side of the country and not california.... I do realize that makes it hard sorry. But any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My team is gay and only spin flags (and swing poles)
And we have no boys.
Or a winterguard.
But I'm trying out for captain next year, and I guess I have a pretty good shot. I'm pretty quick at picking up stuff (I was the first person next to the captains who was able to do a perfect one handed horizontal. And on crutches, to boot!)
I want to go to a camp or something and learn rifle, but the odds of me being able to teach the rest of the team rifle are pretty low.
For my captain routine, I'm making pretty much all original moves, except for the ones I'm picking up on youtube (like the speed-spin turn-around, around one leg, etc.)

I love guard and can throw a quad with my rifle! I need to work on it and make it perfect, though, then I'll move on to fives!!!! w00t! I'm the only freshman who can throw even a perfect triple *brag*
Flag doubles are fun as well. biggrin I miss guard so muCh!!! NEwho... baCC n my day ((lol)) I Could throw a 2 1/2 on the flag n a quad on the rifle... rifle was my favorite =D

Hi,
I was in guard for 3 years in highschool, I really miss it. My favorite was the rifle, which I still have and still use. I was guard captain my senior year. Making me the first guy captain of the guard at my school in like 40ish years. I was also the first guy in my guard that didn't like guys. It was a ton of fun. I'm thinking about doing it in college.

omg we jus did tryouts for guard captain...wish me luck! i did awesome on my audition routine! i hit my foot once but i didn't let that stop me...i wuz shaking sooooo bad at the end though!!!!! and then they asked who i didnt want to be captain as one of the interview questions and i jus ended up blurting out a name and i feel sooooo guilty about it!!!!!
