Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit  She wasn't used to travelling in big groups. Or in groups at all. It had always been Kei and her... they had always moved quickly, the two of them understanding each other with a simple gaze... They knew when to move, when to rest, when to press their pace. This time was different, though... and Kaori couldn't deny the tension and impatience taking over her. They were going too slowly... they were taking the longest route... and even if she knew deep down that Kakyo was the one who knew the streets better than anybody else... that didn't stop her from making up her opinion about this plan.
Despite everything though... this group knew one another quite well. Even with their oddities, they were a close knitted group, and they trusted each other with their lives. That she could at least respect. And for that, and that only, did the girl didn't snap or say anything when they hit a dead end for the second time.
She turned to Kei, wondering how he was doing... what was he thinking. He seemed less tense than the last couple of days, and Kaori was relieved for that. And despite herself... a little smile betrayed her stoic facade.

"I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?""This is the summoning terminal. I suggest setting up a perimeter around it just in case big, white, and ugly comes calling," the Boss advised as he moved up to the side of the terminal, but no sooner had he begun to examine it and decide how to go about this next did the sound of a crash nearby alert him to Hisoka punching a devil he'd knocked on the ground in the head repeatedly...even as Rina kicked away like a little rabid dog at its side, "You guys...Rina! I need you at the Terminal. If we're going to figure out how this thing works aside from waving our phones at it, you're going to have to look at it. This is your time to shine." She looked at him witheringly and then moved over to the terminal, flipping open her laptop. "I'm always shining, Boss. You know that by now." "Yeah, yeah...now do your thing. We're short on time."
He sighed and nodded in gratitude as she finally did just that, waving him away like a child from his father's crafts table. So instead of lingering he looked at the two Human Weapons nearby and knew that they were likely still unsure. They were on the same side now, but that didn't mean they had come to trust him. Nothing he could do about that now...they were the ones who convinced him to join them.
"Keep an eye out for demons, other summoners, and Benetnasch," he warned them, ignoring the dark-haired kid for the moment before addressing him last, "You...just stay there. You disturb me..."
And he...would find somewhere against a wall to lean and relax. They were here. Kei nodded at the Boss as he moved to a wall and rested, leaving the swordsman once again alone with his longest and (usually) only companion. Seeing her small smile creep onto those lips helped to loosen something that had been clenched tight inside of him for longer than he could remember now. This whole situation had nearly gotten the better of him...the demons, the death, the destruction...and yet that one connecting thread keeping him together, holding him into this person that he wanted to be, had always been her. And she was still here, still that glue that kept him, no, made him whole. He moved to her side and set a hand on her shoulder just for a moment, a gesture of solidarity.
"Now we wait. Maybe Saiduq has a plan that he hasn't told us about?" he suggested hopefully, though there was no evidence that was the case. And if that wasn't the case they would have to put their faith, at least for now, in this strange band of Vultures. Not the most comforting thought, but...at least they were colorful. Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit Her fingers brushed over the back of his hand gently, her gaze turning to him for a moment. They were in this together... and more than anything, she was grateful he was still here with her. He had put his trust in her...They had gone through so much together and Kaori wasn't about to let that end. They wouldn't die... they would build this world together. They would find a way. "If he does... he sure should let us know soon..." The girl muttered with a wry smile, leaning in to rest her head on his shoulder lightly. "It almost looks like they have no idea of what they are doing." the girl added, nodding towards the eccentric group working. Still, despite the words, there was an almost amused tone to her voice... she knew the Vultures were skilled and they would find a way, after all. She didn't fully trust them, but... they were starting to win her respect, little by little. And then there was the words the Boss had mentioned earlier. What had he meant...?

If she could figure out how the summoning terminal works, or if she could at least figure something out about Trumpeter that might act as a key to them winning him over, then the next time they summoned him they might actually get lucky and have something to work with! But their skepticism wasn't unfounded. They just had to show what they were worth here. And they were pretty damned good at what they did.

Because my time is short, I'll kill you..."He merely nodded as she gave voice to the uncertainty and the increasing tension that the progressing day heaped upon them. They were running out of time before Benetnasch destroyed the entire city...and yet they had to waste their time trying to win over the some finicky demon. It was unbecoming...but when the world was at stake, you did things that you didn't want to. You simply fought with all that you had...and you took whatever opportunities were presented. Still, if Kakyo couldn't accomplish what he had said he could...what would it mean for them? He wondered...and he could see something was on his companion's mind.

Kaori Sakurazaka, the Wild Cherry Blossom of the Human Weapons Unit She smiled, shaking her head lightly. He really did know her that well, didn't he? "Yeah... I just wonder... if Kakyo could be referring to...him? It's been so long, I was starting to fear I'd never hear of him again. A part of me feared he wouldn't..." She trailed off, not wanting to finish the thought. No, she wasn't being entirely honest. Something had always told her he was alive... but there were always doubts that circled that trail of thought. What was he doing? What was he like? And if The Boss was actually talking about her brother... How did they get to know one another? What was Sai doing mixing with this lot?

You said you were originally from Oshu, didn't you?" the swordsman considered what he had said and found increasingly that it was possible...maybe he really was somewhere out there in this city? Maybe her brother wasn't just alive...maybe he was thriving, just like her? He'd said something that made it sound like he was a fighter. And if he was related to Kaori, he had absolutely no doubt of that. "Perhaps we should ask him while he's still he-EVERYONE, HIDE!"
He could sense the impending danger, motioning towards everyone to take a spot hidden from sight moments before Benetnasch came into view. He had ducked behind of a short wall and watched through the bushes as the Septentrione passed...a mortally-threatening existence in every way. Even as he was now...a weapon trained to peak human ability...he could not dent it. "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"It had been close; the Septentrione had gone within a stone's throw of every single member of their party as if patrolling the streets for them but it hadn't seen them right under its noses. He had doubts as to whether or not they would be quite that fortunate again. Creeping out from the alley he let out a breath and motioned for Rina to emerge from behind the kiosk and get back to work. He figured she had to be at least half done with analyzing what the summoning kiosk really was by now, though if it was supernatural in nature as much as the devils that resided within them were it was possible it might be beyond her ability to interpret. Still, he had some faith in her ability to at least determine how it worked.
"s**t...we're sitting ducks out here," the Boss ran a hand through his hair in exasperation, "Hisoka, I want you to take one of the back routes to the warehouse. Make sure Mo-Po is alright and then come back here. Because my time is short, I'll kill you..."He could hear the sounds of combat as the man who looked like a skilled fighter moved down the alleys away from the clearing of the kiosk, likely encountering some demons en route to the warehouse. This entire area was under siege and they were running out of time to figure this situation out. He knew that the Vultures were doing their best, but they were putting themselves in unnecessary danger if they really didn't have a complete plan to persuade Trumpeter to work for them.
Kei slowly rose from where he had hidden from the Septentrione and rolled his shoulder, his mind already starting to consider the different options they had before them if this didn't work out. Maybe there was another kiosk in another city where the Trumpeter would be more amenable? Or maybe it was better to go back to Al Saiduq and figure out another plan? But did they have time for one? "I have the most loving, beautiful, understanding wife in the world...okay I said it, honey, you can stop poking me now, all right?"They were running out of time...it was a running theme the last twenty minutes or so, but now it was becoming painfully obvious. Demons were breaking into the clearing every so often and forcing the Vultures to put them down. And then there was Benetnasch, continuing to patrol the streets of Oshu like it was the King...it pissed him off, to know that something like that was threatening the streets of his own city of Oshu. But as long as it was attacking them it wasn't attacking further into the city, nearer to the JPs base that was mostly abandoned now...and in that area where his wife was still living, protected. He thought of her and it softened him for a moment, a sigh escaping his lips. All the world was ending and he was out here fighting for the future, but all he really wanted, if he could afford it, was simply to be back there in her arms.
They all had to make sacrifices these days. And this was his...skirting the line between life and death for a vainglorious hope that they would be the ones to slaughter the final Septentrione and save the world. That they could speak to Polaris and make a better world for their loved ones. But the time, it seemed, was growing ever-thinner. Because my time is short, I'll kill you..."Now there were demons attacking, and it was all that Kei could do to take them down with his devils without having to spill blood using his own katana. He still fought, pushing them back out of the area with his combat skills or setting them up for Zaou-Gongen to land the finishing blow...and before the blood flew he was already moved on to the next opponent until the horde had thinned and the first wave was done. A second hadn't been too difficult, but if they kept coming at this rate they weren't going to be able to hold out all night.
"Kaido! Rina! You need to hurry...we can't last out here forever," the ex-Human Weapon warned as he pushed back a devil and turned away as his devils finished it off, moving back towards the center of the clearing to take a breath with the immediate threat warded away, "Either we summon Trumpeter soon or retreat back to the station or the warehouse. If even the people of JPs couldn't come up with a better option to defeat this Septentrione son of a b***h than this, what hope did they have of coming up with a better plan? They just needed to know how to appeal to it, and what better group than this diverse crew of characters? Surely somebody amongst this group would appeal to the likely-unusual tastes of the Trumpeter...the way that dancing had worked on Shiva and...uh...bellybuttons had worked on Kama? Somebody had to be able to convince him!

The swordsman was all but ready to take Kaori and the others and lead them back to the warehouse himself, but the girl had said she was almost done. They had to hang in there, just a little bit more. He had to trust the Vultures no matter how unlikely that might have seemed just a few hours ago. And so he leaned back against the stone walls and took a deep breath, a rare moment of peace amidst all of the insanity.
They were either going to succeed at this...or they were all going to die. It was starting to really look like those were the only two options available.
