[Entering][OOC: Kiwi was late to the party due to his IRL busy RPer >.>]
Kiwi decided to remain back by the entrance, and help ensure his fellow brethren a chance to escape. But the sudden turn of events caught the horseman entirely by surprise as shards of strange, opalescent crystal burst from the ground all around him. The Famine boil jumped, relying on his agility to dodge the crystals as they burst from the ground. His chained sickle summoned in his hand, Kiwi whirled it out, shattering several beams as they broke the surface. But others beneath him, rose round his feet, tugging him back towards the shattered earth. He could feel himself sinking downwards, being pulled into the crystal itself, his very FEAR being drawn to it, sapping him of strength. He struggled, flapping his tattered wings in an attempt to pull free as his vision went dark.

Then both Demi and West were silent... and Levi was silent too. Crystals broken in angered frustration yielded no reward for her. Instead, more grew beneath her, clenching and holding her to the ground. With a sigh, Levi let it happen. She'd known coming into this that such a fate would be promised to her. With her vision beginning to blur out and fade, Levi fell to her knees between the two statues, wondering if Xiu and Lizzy... Shun and Mitsu... Jericho and Hel... where they going through this too? [ first dice = Ren, second dice = Sparrow ]He knew it was ending, was about to be the end, but Ren still forced himself, feeling pain in every step, his mind only filled with a single thought, of a single person with vibrant red hair and a beautiful, bright, enormous smile that seemed to light his entire world. That, and the scowl of a pale, freckle-faced young puppy with stubborn growls and sulking that made you want to pick him up and cart him around until he laughed.
I can't die. This isn't over yet -
Except it was, and he knew it.
Ren lifted a hand, pushing some of his sweat-dampened hair away from his eyes. The crystals were twisting around his feet, attempting to crawl up his legs, and yet he still tried to move forward, to escape, to move beyond the chaos -
- they were up to his knees now -
He tried walking again, and fell.
- up to his thighs - his waist - his stomach -
"No. Not yet."
- his chest -
It was difficult to breathe now.
- his shoulders -
He lifted an arm, reached out, and then dropped it, along with his head, his eyes still burning with determination.
- his neck -
"LW."

He hoped she would be. He hoped she would be mad enough to find happiness on her own, that she would be able to move forward. Another part of him desperately hoped that this was, in fact, not the end. After all, he had died before. He had come back, his FEAR reinstating himself.
But this was different.
Sparrow held the scythe tightly in his hands, striving forward, but it was no use. The crystals held him in place, creeping over his hands and arms until he couldn't move, freezing him in position.
He closed his eyes, wondering again, hoping, yearning to return back.

Kiwi came to a moment later, to a sudden, sharp pain. Glancing down, the horseman found several off-shoots of crystal to have grazed his arm, blood pouring from the wound. He stared with a horrid fascination as the liquid FEAR crystallized on contact, growing upward to form strange colored shards of it's own.
A power this strong, this overwhelming ... he blinked hazily. This, ... this couldn't spell good things for any of them. He struggled to fight, his weapon already faded from his weakening hands.

A sharp crackling sound caught the boil's attention, and Kiwi glanced up. Far above him, crystals were merging, growing together, and the sheer force of them grinding against one another sent a loud screech into the strangely otherwise quiet air. Pieces were falling as well, and with a gasp Kiwi ducked his head, watching the large, sharp opalescent piece of crystal that rolled with a sheen to crash into the "crystal forest" below.
He took a moment to stare across the forest, nothing but crystal as far as the eye could see ... He could barely muster enough strength to keep his eyes open ... the crystal was rising, engulfing his shoulders, crawling cold, and ... strangely liquid-like around his neck, tugging, pulling him back into it's recesses ... into an icy ocean of hatred and FEAR ...
And then the crystal closed round him, pulling him entirely into it's etheral embrace.

Death Solo
Calder had waited. He had done as he felt was right. To save those he wished to protect, but it wasn't enough. He wanted to protect before there was danger. To prevent capturing. To prevent harm. To prevent kidnaping. To stop before anything started. For now, he had raced to keep anything more from happening, and he wasn't sure if that had worked. Calder had left to secure this portal for his friends. Did he regret? No. To stay in Amityville and know he did nothing would have killed him more. To loose those that might have needed his help and had risked their lives to save those he loved.
That was love. That was being a herd. That was what Amityville was. They risked their necks out for each other more than members of his own clan ever had, and they went down together. As for the horsemen, he wasn't sure, but they came as well, and that amounted for something. Calder hadn't heard about a horsemen being taken, but Medea had kept her word and gave her assistance. Now how did she know the trapdoor was there and to have all her horsemen prepared, he had to wonder.
He wondered abut a lot. There was still too many questions that seemed bigger than who he was, but his aspiration was to know the truth, but that never came easily - if at all.
What he could take pride in was that he was here, fought the good fight, helped his friends, and did all he could. Or at least he hoped so
But there was anger too. Always anger. Anger that he didn't save them. Anger that he wasn't stronger. Anger that things never seemed to work out for them. Anger that despite all the firepower, they seemed to need more. That they were at a great disadvantage despite being the good guys. That, as the crystals, they hadn't done enough. There was still so much left, and so much taken.
The war wasn't over. Something told him that there was still much more left, and much more he wanted to work to resolve.
More that he wanted to do. There was hate there. Hate that he wouldn't have his own scarelings, and that those scarelings would face the same problems that he was facing now. That they too would be in threat of being taken or harmed. He hated that Barth wouldn't know what really happened, and he never got to share half of what he wanted to give to him, to tell him, to experience with him. He hated that the future that Barth said he would let him be with, wanted him to be with, wouldn't happened.
There was hate, mingled with sadness, but the hate that nothing seemed to change, and that nothing would change due to all the sacrifice that had happened. He refused to say it was pointless, but it didn't seem right. The island was taken over by these crystals, but he didn't feel satisfaction, or that this was a victory.
Nothing felt absolutely right. His actions, decisions, were ones he felt were better than others, but the results, the feel of it all, didn't match. So often he felt more mixed up and having more questions, more uncertainties, than ever before.
But what did ti matter now?
As the crystals rose, he wondered what would be said? The memories of the students he saw in the trance had been a case of those who had fought to protect their school, but in the end, no one knew about it until they stumbled across them. It had been covered up or had it been so easy to forget such noble actions? Their school was literally resting atop a cave of secrets and a history of these same battles, and nothing seemed to have changed in that time.
He could only hope. Through his own anger and disappointment, through fear and sadness, and revenge and doubt, that others would live, and there had been change. That Amrita and Christof were safe, and Barth would continue to be safe. That there would be someone to protect him as he wouldn't be there. Why? Because these days, as the world turned dark, he was never certain if it was the end. It changed things. Fighting with the uncertainty, but it made the sacrifices more.
He only hoped they weren't in vain. That these lives, these decisions, these choices, all mattered in the end, and that this path was the one that went someplace good. To peace. That this end was not something worse like the trance he saw on the islands, but someplace better. That his choices made these paths that helped others. Hope was all he could have now, with all his consumed emotions, because there was never a chance to look back.

It was all madness - as was her life, as it seemed at times. Madness in the front, party in the back, and Madness in her party too. She had come because it seemed to be the right thing to do, and at the same time it almost seemed like it had been a pointless thing to do as well. Had she been needed there? It was possible not.
She had not pulled her weight. She had not earned her right to say she had been of any help. She had told Red that she would do better more than once and now this was how she was failing.
It was a feeling that was low in her gut. But that was not the only feeling there. There was another feeling that was attempting to consume, swallow, devour, taste, steal, and hold her hostage as well. A feeling that whispered the profanity of hate into her head and engulfed more than just herself.
The feeling made flesh crawl. Cold, thick, unmovable. Perhaps it wasn't really crawling, but rather it began to slow its crawl. It was like horrible brakes that hadn't been changed, screeching, a mess waiting to happen, and she couldn't do anything about it. It was like the opposite of the fire that had consumed her in that illusion - that nightmare of the future that could have been. It didn't devour her quickly. Even with some weak cracking of her body as she slowly moved her limbs it felt like ice through her veins.
Slowing everything. Slowing her, a creature of speed - of stealth, of endurance. They were meant to always walk, always walk, always walk....And it burned, all she could do was try to will her body. To keep moving, just keep moving...but her limbs had stopped working. Poison - it was poison moving through her veins. She didn't even know why, and perhaps that was what killed her the most.
More than the crystals that had devoured her.

It wasn't easy fighting like this, but Shun was trying his damnest to keep the lycan safe. When she urged him to put her down, he looked to her, staring as he could see the crystals overtaking her. His eye widened for the moment as he was trying to think of some way to get it to stop. He was afraid to try and strike it off of her in the case that he ended up harming her instead. "No," he told her firmly. The Reaper didn't know what to do but he wasn't going to put her down. Hearing a crackling from above, he glanced up only to see some crystals getting ready to come crashing down onto him. s**t. This wasn't good. He technically could have moved away fast enough if he dropped her, but that wasn't something he was willing to do. Instead, he pulled her closer, covering her before feeling sharp pains hit him in his back as the fragments came crashing down. Letting out a shaky breath, he still held onto her, trying to ride out the pain, soon noticing the look in her eyes as she stared at him. "Mitsu..? Wait.. No.. Nonono.." he whispered, actually sounding a little frantic as the crystals kept covering her up. It almost felt like as time came to a halt as he heard her words of love before she was completely consumed. Shaking his head, he stared down at her, not quite feeling the pain in his back any more. Again, he felt as if he might have failed her. But, pretty soon, he realized that his own body was being consumed. The will to fight it had gone and all that there was left was to embrace... and her for that matter. Perhaps if he had been stronger none of this would have happened in the first place. But in the least, he could have her in his arms. "I love you too..." he whispered before closing his eye and holding her close to him, wrapping his arms around her crystallized form. Before too long, he had joined her. He'd watch over her forever this way.

Sometimes there was something quite aggravating about the fact that while they had laid waste to so much, there was damage still to be dealt to their own. In the form of hate, revenge, rage.... all feelings he was familiar with. The feeling of the loss of his mother had been something he'd been greatly effected by and had instilled such feelings inside of him...
and if his feelings could have attempted to rend the world apart, he probably would have rather enjoyed that. But it was more than that, and it tugged at strings and pieces of him that were already some middle world. Something neither him nor not him. It was a strange way to exist -- perhaps those inflicted with Insanity would never actually know that feeling.
That tangible non-existence but also existence at the same time.
Perhaps it was the existence of those who no longer did putting some lingering claim upon him - holding onto him as he lingered through existence. As they all continued to live. To plan, to plot, to hold each other.....to rebuild, ultimately. Work never ending, our work is never done: Tearing down, building up it goes on and on..... Yes, they were like a glorified ant farm for Halloween that was going to force its way out of their bounds and reform themselves as the mighty force they had been previously.
And would always be, even without numbers.
Or rather, they would be once the feeling that was beginning to devour everybody came to pass over. It spread much quicker than the feeling that was slowly trying to spread through his body on a day to day basis did, and it sort of fascinated him, slowly flexing his fingers as they began to crystalize. In fact, he handled the entire transformation rather calmly.
After all: All paths lead to the same end.

What had happened? Things had been peaceful one second, then chaos the next. She remembered reaching out for Nicodemus, barely getting her coat on, then running out the door and hoping that Jerry hadn't just destroyed something important again. Her following thoughts had consisted of hope they wouldn't be going back to the barracks, then hoping that everybody didn't just..die all over.
It had been bad.
How she'd kept afloat seemed like half blur and half some dark spatters on her once pristine coat. She really needed to figure out what it was that Caelius sprayed on himself to keep clean and awesome like he did or something. Was it something H made? Did it come with a side effect of turning into a horrible ogre when the sun went down? Either way, she was highly interested in everything that was going on to some extent.
At least in what she could stay afloat in the understanding of.
She wasn't sure what buildings were down at that point, but when the wave of energy spiked, Nicodemus was quick to let her know. Even when it became overwhelming.
Painful....
No. She hoped this wasn't a case of mass death - even if only she and Marcus survived, then they could...no. No, that was selfish. They all needed to. Because they'd come that far together, after all.
But it seemed like the moment she was afloat enough to start piecing together the situation, everything started to go to hell again. Perhaps not hell, however, but rather, something more like a cold and icy place in a galaxy far far away. Heh. Bix might have liked that thought, at the very least. Still, she hoped all the pain ended soon.
She was ready to wake up from whatever nightmare she was concocting.

Blackness was all Seiji could remember as he woke, blackness and a pain in his chest. Then a face, scarred and nervous, and with that image it all came flooding back. They'd invaded the island, attacked the hunters in their base. All to get their friends back, and considering he had no idea how much time had passed since he'd blacked out after his battle, he hoped they had succeeded. It seemed so long ago, them crossing over, but it had only been a day, no, hours? He didn't know. The only certainty he could hold onto was the battle around him that had continued to rage on.
A flash of pink and black caught his eye, pulling his attention, and the boil's still heart gave a little throb as he finally laid eyes on Junko.
And then all hell broke loose. The ground erupted beneath them and crystals sprang upwards like strange, glass trees. Spreading outward, fast and faster, it licked at peoples heels, climbed their limbs, encasing them..
The horror of the situation sank in, and Seiji jerked his head back around to Junko just in time to see her loose her battle with the glittering advancement of white gems. It made him freeze, hopelessness and bitter anger welling up in his throat as a scream that would never make it past dark lips. He hadn't noticed the crawl of FEAR leeching crystals up his legs, not until they had reached his hips and there was no running, no fighting it off now. His scream died on his tongue, replaced by a strangled and startled cry as he helplessly batted at the hardness that was starting to consume him. It sliced at his palms, and where black blood should have flowed only white gems formed. "What is this!?"
It was death. Resignation moved in to replace panic, then sorrow as he cast a last look where Junko had been. Regret came last as the crystals reached his neck. Regret that he'd never taken that last step with the ghoul, that they'd never live their lives out full, that in the end, if they had freed their friends, it didn't matter. It had all been for not.
His last thoughts were vague. Wondering if this was like all the other times when things had been hopeless and they had all effectively died in the past. If there would be one more second chance. He never took for granted that he would wake up again when he fell, never assumed.
Hope, however, was another story.
He held onto hope up until the world went black and silent. Seiji was gone.

"NOOO!" Hazel shouted out to Rep as she watched the crystals consuming him and everyone around her. She stumbled forward to ran by his side and tried to smash the crystals with Sabin but it was no use. When the crystal fully covered the red-headed man she barely knew, she felt like she failed him. Not only was she wrong about being able to keep the barrier up, but she wasn't able to protect him. She fail him. She failed that life hunter. She failed herself.
"No! No! What's happening?!" she cried as it was also wrapping around her legs. Hazel began to hyperventilate, frantically hitting the crystals as hard as she could, this time trying to free herself."SABIN HELP ME!" She screamed at her weapon as she kept smacking the crystal. Every time she made a blow, it began to feel like her death was inevitable. Tears were gathering up in her eyes, blurring her vision and her face began feeling hot. "I don't want to die... Not yet..." Small droplets fell from her freckled cheeks to Sabin and her arm. She couldn't stop it. Hazel took one last look around her and by this time, almost everyone had been crystallized. "I'm sorry... I'm s-sorry... I'm-- I'm--" choked up, Hazel's lip curled up as she cried to herself. By this time, the crystals had grown from her legs to her neck. It had gotten too hard to breathe. Her vision was fading to a white fuzzy haze.
Pain. Anger. Regret.
She had wished she could have done more to help others, fulfill her job as a hunter, to save her father. She shut her eyes for a moment to see a figure fading in and out. "Daddy..." With a few last breaths, the pain had finally stopped and it was over.

Crystal after crystal erupting around her, Bea found herself too tired to dodge out of the way. Instead she laid there, still as limp as before as the fragments were beginning to consume her. Why fight it? No one was going to miss her. She'll just be forgotten like all those other times. Weak. Insignificant. Forgettable. She closed her eyes, almost accepting her fate. A familiar feeling of drowning and a muffled voice whispering revenge. Bea saw flashes of a girl who resembled much like herself, but with short red hair. The girl had her hands around Bea's neck. Her mind played sounds of watery struggle and that girl screaming at her. Bea's face was passive. No emotion, except a single tear riding down the side of her face before she was completely consumed by the crystals.
